  1. I don't really consider that a horror game, more of an adventure game or adventure/horror. By horror games I mean mostly survival horror, or in other words games that mainly try to gross you out. CoC is no worse than the Cradle or the zombie level in Half-Life 2. And really I didn't find it either particularly scary or creepy, it got the whole mystery/horror atmosphere just about perfect though.
  2. I never play "horror" games, but ironically some of my favorite games/levels have horror elements in them, like the Cradle in Thief: DS.
  3. If Mubarak were to fall, the big question is would it open the way for the Muslim Brotherhood to take over.
  4. Genghis Khan, history's greenest conqueror: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/climate-w...enest-conqueror
  5. Ok, but he's still better than "Im-a-hero-and-Im-only-standing-here-to-do-quest" type of main character in Fallout. Only way to actually make an opinion was in speech challanges and in a quests, where you have to decide who you'll be supporting - but not in all. You're just asking about Mojave, fractions and quests. In AP you can be sarcastic, you can joke, you can insult other NPCs and you can choose your personality. :') No harm to Fallout New Vegas, it's a different type of RPG, I'm just saying that I prefer Alpha Protocol. :') You probably just prefer a third person voiced PC. Which is the way to go if you want to give PC an identity separate from the player. Edit: Speaking of characters, the old crazy guy in NV was even better than Hecht in AP, so I think you could come up with equal quality counterparts in both games, although AP character tended to be more over the top, and also there were fewer of them, so some got more attention.
  6. Most publishers push developers around because they can. Obsidian must've been treated better than most since at least they're still around. Edit: Here's what Sawyer had to say about developer/publisher relationship: http://www.gamebanshee.com/news/100982-je-...-continued.html
  7. Separate grenade button should've been in the game and in every shooter with grenades, I wound up not using grenades because I don't like to fumble with weapons in the middle of a fight.
  8. Success in business is almost entirely based on the exploitation of the stupid.
  9. Sort of related : http://www.newsweek.com/2011/01/16/richard...ly-mission.html An interesting article about Richard Holbrooke and US Afghanistan/Pakistan policy
  10. Are you kidding? I'm all over mammoth burgers. I am kidding, it's a Jurassic Park reference.
  11. That screenshot certainly looks impressive, in the art design sense as well. Edit: As far as AI, I think this explains it It'll be nice if NPC's react when I jump on their table and start stepping into the food.
  12. Scientists to resurrect mammoth : http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110117/wl_as...nsciencemammoth Just because we can do it, does it mean we should do it?
  13. Branching dialog wasn't the point in Oblivion, so it doesn't make sense to complain about it. It's like complaining there was no dialog in Halo.
  14. This guy is so awesomely naive, I have to quote him
  15. They claim they announced on their forums that Oblivion Radiant AI was being cut back. Somehow that never made it into the press though.
  16. How does "Protesting killing" (which is basically what they're attempting to do I believe... the military protests and such are protesting the taking of lives and not living by the strictest code of the bible) fall under "satanist"? They're not protesting killing, they believe it's good that our soldiers are dying because US allows homosexuality. They also believe that it's good that a small child was killed for the same reason. They also try to add as much as they can to the anguish of the families of the fallen. So if they believe their deity approves of them, their deity must be Satan.
  17. I judge people by their actions, not by what they claim about themselves.
  18. First up: 34000 year old living organisms discovered: http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/201101...oundburiedalive
  19. http://www.popmatters.com/pm/post/135348-f...e-with-virtual/ I guess I have to give one thing to Bio, they know their audience.
  20. They're a small group of sadistic, publicity seeking lunatics, previously best known for picketing soldiers' funerals. I'm not convinced they're religious at all, though if they are they're probably satanists. I was very surprised and heartened when mental health became a tripartisan mainstream election issue in Australia last year. I like to look on the bright-side a lot of the time. So I'm simply going to say that if an overhaul of mental health treatment in America occurs as a result of this, that will be a very good thing. Americans can't change what has happened, but they can shape what the consequences of this massacre are. I'm not holding my breath for anything beyond something symbolic.
  21. Better than NV? I don't think so, precisely for the reason he stated, lack of a game world. But may be he doesn't consider NV a shooter hybrid. He didn't like NV much in any case (mainly due to bugs, somewhat ironically). AP was more buggy for me, because cover didn't work properly a lot of the time, and that was a major game mechanic. NV would just freeze once in a while, which was annoying but not that bad. I can forgive an RPG bugs so long as it gets other RPGish things right, unless the game is actually unplayable.

  23. Better than NV? I don't think so, precisely for the reason he stated, lack of a game world. But may be he doesn't consider NV a shooter hybrid. Also all the different approaches to missions that he claims? I haven't noticed those, certainly not to the extent of Invisible War.
