Well, OK, I'll take your word for it but I found it uncomfortable to aim with the center post being almost the same as the flanges and them all being so close together. Btw, I would've really loved to have the Garand in the role of the Brush gun with 30-06 instead of 45-70. Anyways, despite the nit-picking, awesome job on the guns and the entire game.

I think there are jaded grumpy cynics. I remember on Black Isle there were a number of posters who seemed to hate or have major issues with *every* game that came out; would over analyze press releases and accuse companies of lying based on vague statements made early in the development cycle of a game. If those aren't jaded or grumpy cynics, I don't know what is. That said not liking a game is certainly no reason to dismiss the opinion of another poster. I get that you didn't like ME1; I liked it - easily as much as I did KotOR. But that's me, I certainly wouldn't expect everyone to feel the same. Heck I liked Jade Empire and I seem to be in the minority on that too. I agree with you, some people just hate everything and are exactly as you describe. But just because someone hates a game doesn't make him one of them, again as you say. And yes, I did like JE also, although to me that's where the problems first started. Yes, I was hyped, but the KOTOR games were my favorite, so why wouldn't I be? But yeah, you're right, I am jaded and grumpy, I forgot there for a moment. That's not the reason I hate ME though, that was my point.
-
So you're not a jaded grumpy cynic, because a game didn't mach your unrealistic expectations? So what are you? Why do you say my expectations were unrealistic? I was expecting something like KOTOR, except with a new IP and real time combat. And before others pipe up, ME is nothing like KOTOR in quality. Surely this can't be true. It is true. To be fair, I usually have pretty good instincts or luck to avoid playing bad games.

Great, my YCS gun is already an instant win button. But they better not have nerfed it. Boone is my favorite character too. But in a manly, brotherly way of course. Reminds me of Canderous, and they're both war criminals. Edit: Btw, on the subject of guns, the Brush gun is awesome, but the iron sight sucks, it blocks way too much peripheral vision. Why can't it have the hunting rifle sight? That's the best, most realistic sight in the game, but it's almost useless because the hunting rifle becomes useless quickly, and you're better off putting a scope on it anyway. Also, all the M16 sights are done wrong, the center should be much shorter than the two sides. I noticed Black Ops got it exactly right.

Accusing people of being jaded grumpy cynics is bull****. I can honestly say ME1 was my most anticipated game ever, I spent an incredible amount of time on the Bio forum before the game came out. ME was incredibly disappointing, the most amateurish, half-baked effort I've ever played.

It was pretty horrible on the xpox as well. Also the console interface wass piss-poor, lousy button management resulted in stuff like not being able to give individual orders to team mates etc. - stuff which I believe was all in the PC port. It was in the PC port because the 360 players beta tested the game for them, and they improved on some of the complaints.

It'll be a travesty if they don't. Then again it's Spike TV.

If EA is getting out of SP, then good riddance. A long inteview with Yu Suzuki : http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3182648 http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3182650 -
I don't think there's even an install option on the 360, it has to load from DVD, which is why it's so painful. Not that I have room on the tiny HD it came with anyway.

Fetch quests mixed with more complex quests are OK, especially if it's a way to direct exploration as is often the case in NV. But fast travelling to all the locations just to hear a sentence was ridiculous, the whole thing was just a long sequence of loading screens, especially painful on a console, drove me nuts. Also if you're going to have me run 10 times between the Kings and the Followers of Apocalypse, why the hell not at least put them right next to each other?

Saying Bioware's graphics are better than AOD is like saying some mediocre modern movie looks better than Snow White because it's more realistic. AOD graphics are superior to Bioware's if only because Bioware's graphics are nauseating, no matter how shiny they try to make them.

China is not about to start a war with the world over a country that it knows is clearly in the wrong. It values its own stability far, far too much. And nuclear weapons would never be involved unless North Korea decided to launch the single nuke it is known to have (but not known to have a launching device for). That makes sense, except China's unwillingness to put an end to this very dangerous situation and their own multiple provocations makes me question how rational they really are. Besides, they may not want this situation to escalate, and we don't either, but things could easily get out of hand. I don't think China will do nothing should we be forced to take out NK's artillery. After all, the Cuban missile crisis was very close to starting an all out nuclear war, even with both parties being fairly rational.
-
We can't take military action against NK because China is protecting them. The main danger here is a real war will break out between the 2 Koreas, which could easily escalate into a nuclear war between US and China, since we'll probably have to use tactical nukes against NK artillery aimed at Seoul in case of an all out war. So we need to avoid escalation as far as possible. Taking sanction off NK was a big mistake though, we need to put those back.

He could always do what most physics majors do, become a programmer. Or he could invent the next Xbox.

The first Indy movie was really good. The rest were just crummy cash-ins, really didn't have the same feel to them at all.

Large Hadron Collider successfully creates mini Big Bangs
Wrath of Dagon replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
No, the lawyer is Johnson, which was my first link. He references a paper by Paglia, who's an astrophysicist. I found a free link to the Unruh paper : http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/gr-qc/pdf/0408/0408009v2.pdf I don't think he means there's some other kind of radiation, I think only the Hawking radiation is possible for a black hole. -

Paglia's paper was reviewed by Giddings and Mongano, who did the safety analysis article for the LHC. They offered 3 objections, which he answered and which you can see in his article. Questioning Hawkins radiation there are two published articles, one by Helfer and one by Unruh. -

By non-negligible I mean small but not so small as to be ignored, considering the possible outcome. As for Krezack's question, this is a quote from the Paglia paper I linked to -
Large Hadron Collider successfully creates mini Big Bangs

I don't think that's called for. WoD is discovering new things about science (as are we all) and he just acknowledged that. Is continued vitriol necessary? It's not like this is a thread about politics - there's no need for an us vs them attitude. Nobody has been harmed - it seems pointless to hold a grudge or seek 'revenge'. Edit: Or did I misread and WoD is still arguing black holes are going to be generated by the LHC and consume earth? I never said they will be generated and will consume earth, I said there's a non-negligible chance of that. -

Plenty of people already think that. I don't expect anything from this bunch, it's obvious I'm disliked here.
