  1. Being government employees, they're on the dole either way.
  2. Being a powerful influence doesn't prevent them from being "speech" for legal purposes. The real issue here is that children don't have the same free speech rights as adults, and society has the right to seek to prevent harm to children. Not that that law would be the least bit effective in any case, as it's all really up to the parents. Edit: May be it would be somewhat effective in sending a message to parents that children really shouldn't be playing certain games, as so far that message doesn't seem to have gotten through.
  3. Good thing I just got Enslaved. By the time I'm ready for NV, there should be a patch out, and Amazon will have a nice discount.
  4. Anyone know if there's a way to set a flag to let you do the droid factory? I'm too late in the game to
  5. It's not a question of "government go away", it's a question of what the proper role of government should be. Also under the federal Constitution, the powers left to the states are less restricted than the powers allowed the federal government, and this is a question of the constitutionality of a state, not federal, law.
  6. Hm, I tried to play Perfect Dark when they re-released it, but found it so primitive it's virtually unplayable. Yes Halo did make you run through corridors in both directions towards the middle of the game, the reason being they run out of time to make more content. And yes, the alien spaceship level could get kind of boring, and everyone seems to hate the Library, although I thought it wasn't bad as a change of pace. But there were also many great and seemingly original levels, I'm surprised someone wouldn't like them, but to each his own.
  7. Yes, or most shooters for that matter. That's not the only reason, but it's sure a nice bonus. Actually flood is OK in small doses, but it was way overdone in 2 and 3.
  8. Halo 2 and 3 more or less sucked. If you don't like Halo 1 though, there's no help for you. Anyways, Reach is an improvement in almost every way, except they can't capture the spirit of the original. True, the narrative so far is just a series of assignment, but IMO story isn't that important in a shooter, unless it's really annoying, which this one isn't.
  9. Halo Reach. Really has to be one of the best shooters ever so far.
  10. Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Barak Obama, the recipients of "We really, really hate George W. Bush and glad you're not him change and hope prize."
  11. The only significant bug I encountered repeatedly was that cover didn't work properly maybe half of the time. Which was exactly the same for Mass Effect 1. Yet compare the scores for those two.
  12. http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/pc/2010/10/...alpha-protocol/ So the guy who gave AP 4/10 is now saying he loves it, he's enjoying it an awful lot, and will play it again and again. Just shows how subjective reviews are, while so much is riding on them. Enjoy the game for what it is, not for what you want it to be (through GameBanshee).
  13. It's shocking that a communist dictatorship would behave this way!
  14. Star Wars movies were made for children, just thought I'd point that out.
  15. TSLRCM Is that a must-have? Or just some cosmetics? Make sure you find out how to trigger the droid factory beforehand, or you could miss it entirely.
  16. WW1. And everyone knows Germans attack with Zeppelins, not blimps. If TOR fails, I can almost guaranty a major shake-up at EA.
  17. You can start with this: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/MattChristi...Inheritance.php Click on his name to get the rest of the articles. Microsoft also has good tutorials on their website with the free C# Visual Studio.
  18. I meant Columbia seems to have been able to deal with the situation in the last few years.
  19. Columbia seems to have done OK.
  20. The Bioware defense squad is out in force! Well, OK, mostly one guy. Nothing wrong with paying subscription for a single player game, so long as enough new content is being provided in return. The quality of that content is in doubt though.
  21. So an American is murdered while jet skiing in a lake that straddles US-Mexico border, and then the Mexican police commander investigating the murder is beheaded by former Mexican special forces turned drug smugglers, and it's no news to you? Good thing your main source of info is the Jon Stewart show.
  22. Activision had said it would take $ 1 billion to replicate WoW (admittedly that's a load of crap) and EA has said TOR is the most expensive game by far they've ever made. Add to that their ridiculous overpayment when they bought Bio/Pandemic, the known huge size of TOR team, the number of years in development, and $300 million doesn't sound incredible at all, especially since single player GTA 4 cost more than $100 million, and that's a couple of years ago.
  23. The guy sounds credible. I've had that feeling about TOR for a while, based mostly on intuition though. Here's the direct link btw: http://ealouse.wordpress.com/
