Bioshock, HL2, FEAR, NOLF...whether you liked these games or not, they were well received high quality shooters.
When was the last time we saw a high-quality TB strategy game from a western developer (apart from Civ4?).
Junk? Compare today's high-quality shooters with those cheap Easter European wannabe-Jagged Alliance clones and then let's talk about qualit again, right?
The only XCOM strategy game I'd accept would have to come from Firaxis, because they know their genre. Other than that, I'm glad this genre is almost exctinct.
What really counts is the developer and it's skills. The 2K (Irrational Games) family has proven several times that they're masters at crafting brilliantly designed FPS.
Xcom? Never played any of those, but from the looks of it it seems to be pretty cool. Aliens trying to turn humans into toast is always fun.
Hello.
Civ is a notable exception, because Sid Meier and crew are well known, plus they have a huge and loyal fanbase, so they can afford to make these kind of games. XCOM can NOT!
This is awesome news (and probably the worst kept secret ever).
Xcom setting = win
FPS = win
2K Marin = win
Seriously guys, did you really think they'd make a TB strategy game in these days?
But I thought 2K Australia would work on Xcom. What are those lazy bastards up to anyway?
Last time I checked, no. But Poland always needs someone to blame. Now that the Nazis are gone, the ball's on the Russky now.
Where there's a Russky, there's always a problem.

Epic games announces a new shooter: Bulltestorm
Developed by it's Polish subsidiary "People Can Fly" (Painkiller), it will be officially reveiled on Monday along with Gears of War 3 from Epic's master chief Cliff Blezinsky.
The Crysis 2 website is now online, complemented with a super corny trailer that shows brave marines dying a heroic dead under an evil Alien attack.
Well, I for one am looking forward to it. It's NYC baby! Plus I like pretty graphics and shooters in general. So there.
