What you did today
I tried an American method of payment, but it would not accept it. Seems like the way they do billing over there is different than in the U.S. - they didn't ask for billing address or anything, but they did ask for social security number, and I put a dummy one in. So...yeah. Additionally, there's no option for PayPal or anything.

All the Literature and Reading Stuff...
I used to really like Modesitt's work, but I guess it was about the 10th novel or so of his that I realized that every single book felt like it read exactly the same way. A main character that is a little stubborn at times, but not too stubborn that you'd call them stupid or unable to adapt, who's always mildly to moderately more intelligent than seemingly most everyone else (but no more than that), who makes all sorts of superficial mistakes and has similarly superficial character flaws, but who never really truly fails at anything or has any sort of real (and never mind fatal) flaws, who always ends up seemingly stronger than most everyone else by the end of the book or series. It plays out the same way, series after series, standalone novel after standalone novel. I like his writing, but I can't stomach reading the same basic narrative over and over like that. In Modesitt's quest for steady, logical, and realistic character and narrative progression, his books start to feel very hollow and unrealistic when it's the same story, again and again. It would be very difficult for me to differentiate between the main characters of his different series, besides very on-the-surface stuff like...whether they're a man or a woman, what kind of things do they like to drink, do they like music, whether they came from humble beginnings or whether they were born into their position, etc. These are not real character differences, Mr. Modesitt: they're just silly superficial details. I want a protagonist that doesn't actually act exactly the same way as every single one of your other protagonists acts like. Gwar. Thanks for the link, though.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Anybody else thinks the new aliens look like they were designed by Akira Toriyama? I mean, that guy's even got a power level scouter. I understand BoiWare has some new, young blood, but they should send out a memo to the art team not to ripoff too blatantly from DBZ. Actually, that's really pretty fitting.

why does this zelda character have a better speaker setup than I do sure, they're non-standard and clearly aren't set up correctly, but you can't ignore size

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
It's probably because my resolution is slightly substandard (1600x900)...combined with the font having scaling problems (even with a sub-HD resolution, it shouldn't really be having this issue). At least, I wouldn't expect the newest version of Firefox (or thereabouts) to have an issue with such.

NFL 2016 Season
Packers must be the only team in the league who are worse at 3rd and +15s than they are at 3rd and 2s. Don't understand it. Again and again and again and again, we let everyone convert these 3rd and longs on us repeatedly. At some point, you have to think there's an issue with coaching and scheme.

NFL 2016 Season
Point in case: one moment, the Packers feel like they're utterly dominating, the next, it feels like they're totally choking the game away with every new down. The injuries continue to pile up...if Burnett does not return, I think Cowboys will win. We just don't have the DBs to handle the Cowboys without him - not even with him, really, but it's so much worse without him.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Yeah...so, uh, that video (or rather the English one) was enough to kill any modicum of interest I had remaining for that game...and combine it with how unbearably bad Skyward Sword was, I think Zelda is just about officially over the precipice for me. Oh well. "[...]If there is one thing that is very often too much for me, it's Japanese games with voice-acting. They just too often come up with the worst ****. Cue forceful tear-jerking scenes, cue Link charging towards the enemy with tears in his eyes brandishing a flaming oversized sword. Please don't **** up, please don't make characters summarize aloud what's going on for me, please don't make characters voice their ****ty inner thoughts like what you're doing at 2m38s." "I don't think voice-acting is even the main issue I have, but rather what seems like the inclusion of further anime design philosophies." Two comments I read on the release trailer. Combine that with having the most painfully generic Japanese-to-English styled voice actors, and I don't think I could bear to sit through this game. Into the trash it goes.

What are you playing right now
I remember trying Borderlands 1 way back when, and hating the gunplay so bad. I just can't stand terrible gunplay when it's a central part of the gameplay.
