Yes it is, but it is enough to show my PoV on game difficulty... I know it's very hard to make RPG with more difficulties, but for FPS or Action Adventure game it is almost 75% of what needs to be adjusted... The other things are test the bosses on harder modes so they dont end impossible to kill and add items on lower difficulties and remove items on harder difficulties... seriously whats the reason to pay 50EUR for the game with the best story and best gameplay in the world if it is so simple that i will finnish it in 6 hours and no options for replayability (higher difficulty settings are the easiest way to add more repalyability to the game)?

I take Deus Ex 1 over Doom 3 on nightmare anyday aswell, but that still does not change my view on a difficulty of a games in general... Free health regen is a BAD BAD thing for me It can realy take all the excitement from the game, as much as putting Health Pack every 5 yards... How hard it is do develop the game in a medium difficulty and then make 2 lower diffculties for newcomers and casual players and another 2 harder for players who love the challenge... All they need to do: if difficulty 1 { monster health == monster health*0.5; monster damage == monster damage*0.5; } elseif difficulty 2 { monster health == monster health*0.75; monster damage == monster damage*0.75; } elseif difficulty 4 { monster health == monster health*2; monster damage == monster damage*2; } elseif difficulty 5 { monster health == monster health*4; monster damage == monster damage*4; monster respawn == 30; }

And looks like you are asuming that CrashGirl is the only person in the world who likes to do that things... So when you finished Deus Ex, the thing that stood out for you was the enticing gameplay aspect of managing your health in the game? Listen, I'm not saying that it can't contribute to how much FUN you get out of it. If you like the challenge of knowing you have 1 HP left and you haven't saved your game for an hour, then that's great. But don't go making it into something more than it is. It makes the game more challenging and difficult. There is no way it's the "key aspect" of Deus Ex gameplay. You don't look on the back of the box at read "Fantastic Health Management System" under the features list. I think we do not understand each other... I love challenging games and games with good health management are challenging games, i do not think that it's key aspect but it is one very good way how to make game challenging if you do make some effort to design the health packs in a way that they are not evrywhere, or even worse to make game with auto regen... i played few games with auto regen... there was absolutely no challenge involved... everytime i got low on health and no medpack was around i went to make a call to my gf or friends or make me a food or go to the toilet... if you like that sort of gameplay, its good for you, but i will be bitching about every single game with auto health regeneration... EDIT: and one another thing... i mentioned it somewhere before but i post it here awell, i did not play any FPS game for 5 years then i installed few old and new games, and if i had to play almost every single new game from start on hardest difficulty to find it at least little bit challenging, i tell you there is something realy wrong with current gamedesign...

Depends how much is Blizz spoiled by Kotick

SC2 will be released first imo... and i atm kinda doubt it that it will be ready before spring 2010
-
LOL at health regeneration... The game will look like this... kill few enemies and if under 50% Alt+Tab to facebook chat a while with friends, repeat... oh joy... i rather hit my left knee with a hammer...

Darkfall betatesting but atm servers down

Into the marketing department instead of development

Glad to hear that, maybe i give it a shot

Yes when you play a lot of FPS, it is skill based aswell, but i did not play any FPS for 5 years, installed AvP 2, Unreal 2, Quake 4 and Doom 3 all put on hardest difficulty. AvP 2 - i got almost instantly raped... all others - I breezed through all of them in few days... I did not bother with HL2, Gears of War, Crysis and Far Cry after that experience...
-
Same with me, i just hope there will be still some indies who can make a game which is at least at half difficulty that some of the games of my youth were... nowadays i get bored by almost every game i play because they made it so unchallenging
-
Lacking big japanese names aswell
-
Is a character who is focused only on magic able to finnish the game, or do i have to make a hybrid? (never finnished it so far )

because selling for 100% price to 250000 people and then selling for 50% to 1million people is at the end more money... there will always be people willing to pay anything to get the game on day 1... it's just business as usual...

and another one... i wonder what game they truly tested, it was for sure not PC version http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/grandtheftauto4

In BC updates they lately added Mount Hyjal, Black Temple, Zul Aman, Sunwell Plateau and some nice content for solo or small group players (Ogrila, Netherwing Magisters Terrace)
-
More accessible raid are totaly fine, what is wrong is the total lack of them... When BC was out there was Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, The Tempest Keep ... Now you have Obsidian Sanctum, Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity Lack of dungeons is the problem, not their accessibility
-
No. Karazhan was 10x harder than Naxxramas... We were able to clear Karazhan for the 1st time after 3 or 4 resets, we cleared Naxx 10 in 1 day, and Naxx 25 in 2 days after we set a foot in there for the 1st time... And everything with almost same people. And yes as you said you have to be not asleep in there... And seriously if biggest challenge in a dungeon is to not fall asleep, its something wrong... And about craftable items... i just quote what a 30 years old guy who played wow for 4 years said...

So what you're saying is that if three games come out that all deserve tens, the third game shouldn't be getting it because that would be "handing 10's out like candy"? Flawless logic there. I'm pretty sure they (try to) score each game what they think it deserves, relatively independent of whether they've already given a ten that month/week/day. nah the games which do get 10/10 nowaday would get max 6/10 few years ago... same with movies... it's sad...

It's really simple, everyone needs to have above 1600 dps (I think it might be lower than that) on 25 man and all dps has to do is not move when it's raining rock spikes on them specifically (DBM/Bigwigs will tell you when that's happeneing) and stay out of the "fart clouds". Tanking is a little more complicated in that the main tank will get picked up and the OT has to taunt fast. That's really it. As he said simplest raid boss in game
