I remember trying one of them and besides the instant turnoff that was the horrible control scheme, it had this emo kid with all attitude and no redeeming qualities that you wanted to put over your knee? Yes it was FFVIII. The control scheme was just fine, but you should have used gamepad not keyboard and mouse

I finnished FF8 3 times and I still hate Squall I do not hate FF8 as a game, but I realy do not like it, and tbh half of the game seems to me as much linear as FF13 maybe even more... Yep, Japan isn't known for making Action-RPGs, you're totally right. your response is very non-sequitor... i was talking about taking the final fantasy series, and making it even more different from its golden age. i did not say "japan" makes bad action rpg's japan is not a developer. square enix is. square enix has been changing final fantasy for the last few games, and its clear they intend to continue changing it (which pisses off everyone who wants them to return to making games like 6-9). so, I'm not really sure what you were talking about also: From Software is Japanese, and Dark Souls was the second best action rpg of this year, so clearly being japanese has nothing to do with an inability to make action rpg's 10-13 is as much different from 7-9 as is different 7-9 from 1-3 or 4-6 for example... And that is one of the reasons why I like SE.... They are always changing and bringing new mechanics to their titles. That s what I like about their games. XIII was not the best FF game, but it was far from the worst... I enjoyed FFXIII 10x more than I enjoyed FFVIII for example... (Nothing beats FFIX though ) So I hope they will continue in this trend and we will see new FF games with new gameplay elements added with each new instalment... The last thing I want to see is going the EA or Activision way of having the same **** packed each year in different box... FFXIII-2 preordered the day, they announced Crystal Edition for Europe...

Started to play TES: Arena for 7th time, I have never got past Labyrinthian... For some reason, every time, I start the game, I end up there, and then shelve the game for a year or two... and then again I start it from scratch... Always playing Nightblade...

It's not that bad. In Dark souls drop rates are/were worse pre- 1.04 patch Some still are. Pure bladestone is easy compared to those. Besides on PBWT and with a powerful enough weapon to take out that black skelie fast you can get it in 1 hour. After saving Yuria and learning Soulsucker, I got it in 3 runs from Old Hero Archstone to Black Phantom black skeleton, it made the farming very fast So one more weapon trophy in the house

Killed in Demon's Souls my first Black Phantom NPC - Scirvir, and I was able to collect stones for 4 more weapon trophies I just hate Pure Bladestone droprate 111 hours played so far O.o

its so sad that its an attitude thats been ignored by mainstream gaming press in favor of talking about micro-transactions and iphone apps. making good games should be the goal of every company, and should be their only talking point. ea and activision would rather sell you "services" than products, because they are hoping to somehow/someday make farmville or WoW money on single player games. I think the issue's with gamers, not with "the press", or even the publishers. There's too many people who will just buy the new shiny thing when it comes out and turn in the previous thing without having completed it... :/ But that's not against what was said by Feargus... You know, if the game is such big pile of ****, that people do not want to finish it, they just sell it so it does not turn into such a big loss... Same with a 6 hour long game with no replay value... Who wants to keep such games?

They are already trying that, with multiplayer code, which must be redeemed from PSN or Xbox Live... In my country we do not have PS store nor xbox live gold available.... so here it is definately driving customers away. People are skiping these titles completely or they are buying them when they hit 10-20 EUR price tag.

Demon's Souls. After farming few hours for another weapon trophy I decided to fight the final boss below Nexus. Man I was so disappointed at least I enjoyed 75 hours of godly gameplay and maximum challenge available in gaming nowadays. Best money spent on Collector's Edition EVER!!! I will be going for New Game + and Phalanx and hopefully do not lose all the accumulated souls Then I'll quit for a while and enjoy another game, maybe Dark Souls, maybe something little bit easier
