Let me know how it plays out, I am in considering a new bigscreen TV as well but the only one which looked fine cost over 9000 EUR :S some Sharp ****e... Little bit over the top IMO...
-
Yes... Spending another 60 USD just to be able to see his rightfully purchased gooods beause of retarded use of DRM is the right solution and I bet, that when every customer uses this solution, some execs get fat bonuses on their payrolls...

With Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition released soon, has Beth or Obs acknowledged anywhere what kind of DRM will it use? I am trying to find this information, but so far unsuccesfully.

Now that's quite presumptuous of you. Unless you have any idea which part of world I live in and what console piracy looks here I'd avoid any such statements. There are always consequences and they will reach end-user through the people doing the cracking. Having to deal with total online-bans, loss of warranty, console bricking, software updates and media changes simply dose not come free. Actualy every single person who I know, who plays online and is pirating, owns cracked and uncracked console Cracked firmware updates are offered as cheap subscription... Anyway, any person who has cracked console and goes online with it, deserves to get Darwin's Award and as soon as possible... And as I said, if there is profi cracker who offers you RMA possibilities, stuff like bricking the console does not concern you in a slighest... Lot of these guys does understand the console in such a degree, that you do not need to get your console to the Sony or Microsoft service... They just repair them... You only need to pay bigger price for modding the console... It's the same service like some companies offer... The more you pay, the longer your warranty is... EDIT: Just to make it clear... There is no modders who offer warranty on their services in my country, so in that case some of the stuff you are talking about is higly valid.

It has the exact same purpose like fighting piracy with DRM or sueing people or taking down Cloud Services
-
We discussed this before - console piracy is not on the same scale as PC piracy. And that's largely because it's far more complicated and carries greater consequences. Actualy, that's not the case, it just shows, how much you do not know about the rest of the world, which is less "civilised" There are lot of profesional console hackers, who even give you warranty and RMA possibilities on thier works in these countries... So for the end-users, there is no consequences for modding the consoles... OFC hackers like this, do not operate in most of the "civilised" world due to the stronger copyright laws, and even if it is legal in some more tech savy countries, there is much lower demand for the service, because the piracy is at much much lower rate there.

+1 I am on the same boat... Voting with my wallet Anyway, just purchased Disgaea 3 and 4, will see how much fun will I have with it

that's easy to explain. the majority of "pirates" are schoolkids that don't have the means to pay for a game online. they buy games in stores from time to time but the realization that they can get any game for free, for 12-16 year-old kids... anyway, the point about pirating demos is also correct. it's habitual. they tend to check their favorite torrent trackers for all gaming news. so as soon as something pops up, they only need to press the DL button This is a biggie, more importantly the part of them having no means to pay for a game online. I suppose the sellers could start promoting kids to start stealing their parents Credit Cards and using that, but I think that would create more problems then are already in existence. Honestly I'm quite surprised that this is still a problem. I know a lot of local services that can be used without any real age-checks by cell phone transactions. Then again maybe expecting the youth to sacrifice so many SMSes is unreasonable. And that is a part of the problem... The services are local, not worldwide... There are tons of countries where you do not have access to modern stuff like that... Piracy in US or EU is a shame, we have ****loads of possibilities how to buy affordable entertainment, but as sorophx said, there are countries where the average people earn little money and are contributing to piracy by more than 75% and they do not even know, that something like IP even exists...

The old RPG or the Total war'ish strategy game? Are they both good or bad? I did enjoyed the RPG while I have played it, but I have never finnished it... That says, that it was not best of the Black Isle games, but still worth the time I spend playing it. But keep in mind, for this game, is lot of mixed reactions, you should ask around for other oppinion, but IMHO 3 bucks is worth it.

Playing Star Ocean 4 for second time on Galaxy difficulty now. Trying to get some ridiculous Battle Trophies... The game is actually same fun as a first time as I played it last X-mas

Dang right, don't support the DRM folks...cause they feel they have a right to steal your money!!! It's been double sided though...at first they thought they had the RIGHT to install spyware on your machine without your consent...but got slapped around and now most at least alert you that you need to have an internet connection at least and ALERT YOU (which they didn't originally in many cases) that you are about to install something you didn't want or plan to during the installation. I hate theives who steal my personal information on what I game, when I game, and how I game with out regard that where I live we have rules in regards to RIGHT TO PRIVACY. Though I have to say, originally when games first came out with steam it irked me on that I'd buy a disk...but then the game wasn't on the disk. It only had a STEAM link on the disk to download steam and then the game itself...which made me go...WTH...why did I even try to buy a hardcopy if there's no hardcopy here!!!!???? That actually felt a little more like stealing directly through deciet to me than anything a pirate ever did to me. Game Producers, 50% of the big ones are thieves, liars, and evil to the core. So...I still support them (like Ubi) by not buying their games on PC but buying it on console. Probably people like me doing the same thing are the reason PC sales are less then half of what they were 5 years ago (most say even less then that by a far amount), but booming on consoles. Yeah...I hate thieves...but many of the Game producers are more akin to thieves than the pirates in my book these days...but luckily just like you learn to lock your car...I've learned how to prevent them from stealing my information by avoiding their games and not letting them install their spyware on my PC if I don't want them to know that specific type of information. But this isn't scum and thieves overall...but about piracy. If they really want to fight piracy...DRM is about the stupidest thing they've ever created...both singlehandedly killing PC sales whilst raising the number of pirates and piracy overall...double fail for DRM. On the bright side, Indie developers are once again having the biggest heyday since the late eighties and early 90s in both acclaim and sales. Amen to that!!!

Can I join?
-
No it is absolutely not. Different people different opinion. By access to these different opinions a developer or publisher might develop in the future better strategy to offer their products and lower the piracy rate of their products... Everybody, including pirates, ARE potential customers. If you do not hear to both sides of barricade, you will end up like Ubisoft... Being the laugh-stock of the industry...
-
Offer more convenient way how to obtain your product, than pirates Problem solved

Nice one I especially love this quote The report argues that piracy is only a significant concern for "large foreign production companies," and that these large companies need to adapt to new consumer behavior rather than seeking further legislative changes. And, the report says, "fears that these changes have a negative impact on the Swiss cultural creativity are unfounded."

I don't see how buying a second hand game is different from downloading it. only in the first case you actually pay money to the guy. I don't think it's possible to convince me second-hand sales are more "legal" than torrents Ebay has a large amount of stores that sell new games, actually. But second-hand games is a pretty different argument. It's legal, as Gamestop's entire business model is built around it, but I can definitely see the argument that it is bad for the game industry. Comparing it to a torrent, where hundreds if not thousands of people make use of one copy of a game is pretty laughable though. Sorry to burst your bubble, but lot of these new games on internet are just repacked used ones. With high enough quality manuals etc, so the customer does not spot the difference. Not to mention that there are many companies who are specialised in selling pressed copies of the games you have to pick the shop carefully or you end up with counterfeit...
