Thank you for proving my point. As you see, we are not the indestructible super-troopers of the world. We aren't the international Superman that does no wrong.

That makes no sense at all. Unless of course you ignore the actual definition of words. And reality. May as well say Obsidian has only ever worked on original IPs because KOTOR2 was nothing like the original and also didn't take place in the Star Wars Universe. And HL2 was a lot like HL, except it had tacked on vehicle sections, an out of place survival horror ripoff level (to be honest, I really liked Ravenholme) and NPCs to busy maintaining eye contact that they walk around backwards. Other than Xen, Half Life took place entirely inside a Lab. There was no mention of a Combine in Half Life. That's a horrible analogy in the fact that both KOTOR's are clearly much closer to each other plot wise and release date wise than the HL's. HL2 also had a conherent plot that didn't seem like a cheesy sci-fi ripoff.... (Wait, 1984.... dammit) There is no hope. : (. I suppose it is like that episode of South Park where butters is constantly told "Simpsons did it" over and over again.

Five to seven sounds a stretch. Maybe 5. I wish I hadn't bought an 8800. (((((((((((((((((( Oh well. Such is life.

Crytek CEO: Crysis could 'theoretically' be on 360 and PS3
St_Jimmy replied to Darth Tratious's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
By the looks of the demos, it looks like Hal 9000 is going to have problems. I just remembered that the 360 and PS3 both have only 512MB of ram. And the 360's is shared with video. Thanks for reminding me. -
How horrible we are to end one tragedy to simple start many more... In historical terms it was not that long ago. U.S. did many things such as that in WWII
-
You could always beat them.
-
This reminds me of how lame reality acutally is.

Hah true. I'll still probably buy it, though I'll probably just be grouchy about it : ) True. But there is hope Mass Effect and Dragon Age......... and Heavy Rain.......... Indigo Prophecy anyone? Half Life 2 counts as an original IP to me because it's really nothing at all like Half Life.

#1 Yes but don't waste your money. Buy a 1gb card when we actually need 1gb cards, and those 1gb chipsets will probably be of a much higher quality by that time. The 2900 ATI/AMD series has been beaten by the 8800 Nvidia series in DX 9 but in DX 10, ATI/AMD owns : ( So if you already have 64 bit vista and plan to play alot of DX 10 games, but a 2900XT if your wallet runs deep. #2 this isn't a dual core, this is a quad core ; ) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115026 I might sell my sister for that processor... If I had one. But I wouldn't personally drop $1200 down on a processor. Especially when next year this time, that processor will be half the price it is now. This is what I have, it looks much more feasible my friend.... And It's awesome once OC'ed. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115028 #3 duh. I went Vista 64 bit a week after release. That day I cried man tears and started editing DLL's, and in the process tried to ram my head into a meat-grinder (not really) It's better now, but I didn't reinstall Vista (ran XP after a format) until about a month ago. It's fairly nice, though no company really seems to care to make 64 bit drivers. I suppose everyone will switch over time, but alas, I really don't see aunt marge installing any drivers..... Windows gots a problem on its handz

*watches as new Splinter Cell comes out, full of witty dialogue from our friend Sam Fisher and some mediocre stealth levels. Legions of clancy fanbots gobble up the game, without thinking about wanted new material at all. All they want is their old friend Sam back* *The watches as the same happens to the PoP series* Maybe I wasn't being clear. I wasn't comparing the gameplay of Fable to Assassin's Creed, I was comparing the unecessary hype which seems to stem from the fact that people are all too eager to play something that looks "cool", without any basis for an original story or anything that isn't already dreamt up by little 14 year old boys sitting in Geometry class. But hey, maybe I'm full of it. I ACTUALLY BOUGHT Psychonauts.

Theories on the masked sith guy!
St_Jimmy replied to Stargate: 2000's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Did you play the game at all? Die thread die. -
*coughs politely* I was actually attempting a takeoff of my great hero - Columbo. *image edited out due to overtraffic or something. Due to goblins, that sounds better.* My restricting my points was simply to ease the pressure you are under, tackling multiple questions. Speaking of which, what do you think of my point that simply because an act involves terror does not make it terrorism. To use a purely military analogy, just because the French army had tanks in 1940 does not mean that they were conducting blitzkrieg. They also weren't invading Poland. Terrorism is a vague term that can only befined from a certain point of view.

Discrimination and bigotry exist only if you let them Yuusha. However, I do see many of your points. As in regards to the Cartoon debate, I feel in some ways you could understand why one might feel offended enough to bomb said embassy. Knowing quite a few Muslims (Seriously, there are more Masques in my city in Arizona than there are Churches, and it's right next to the Phoenix metro area too), I think can I make some form of generalization. Because of secularization of society and the economic boom of the west; many Christians and other western religions are nowhere near as devout and (dare I say?) fanatical about their religions as they used to be. However many people of the Islamic faith practice regularly, and despite a few fools, they tend to follow the tenets of their religion quite well. Most Muslims are generally people with a good moral background. I cannot say that of most of the Christians I know. However, maybe what I am seeing is a result of Muslims having to "identify" themselves as one part of society. It's an incredibly basic psychological principal. Most humans want to identify with some sort of organization or ideal. Maybe that causes the good faith I see in most Muslims and the Secularized society I see in my fellow Christians (I am a confirmed Catholic, and I am just as, if not more secularized than most people in general.... however, try to follow my point all the same ) However I do not think so, as even Muslims in the Middle East tend to be quite religious. Some see that as a good thing (myself being one), but some see it as a bad thing, considering some forms of devoutness might cause you to blow up a few (Small number of course. Religious extremism didn't bring down the largest buildings in the world did it?..... Wait....yes it did..........) buildings. Very good point about the Middle East not going through the Dark Ages Yuusha Saladin did kick our asses. Yet, that was mostly because all of the crusades were either A) diverted for no particular reason other than to make someone happy enough to take them to the Middle East, or B) completely disjointed and filled with Catholic leaders that had no idea how to command an Army. However, the thing about the Middle East is the fact that they have not gone though the Dark Ages, but didn't really have a renaissance or industrial revolution either. They more or less stayed where they were, being at one time much greater than most of Europe technology wise, they fell behind the Europeans over time for the simple fact that they did not move ahead of move backward for awhile. Many people will tell you that without the Dark Ages, Europe and the west would not be as powerful as they are today (read Bubonic plague), that is another debate for another time though. @Walshingham. Then what is Terrorism? Does it anything expressly say that a terrorist is a brown-skinned individual with a bomb strapped to his chest, screaming religious taunts at passerby

Assasins Creed sounfs like yet another Fable, except this time from Ubisoft (which has made some pretty awesome games, but other than Prince of Persia, they really suck at making original IP's) UT3..... Sigh, I shall probably play it, but I'm no where near as excited for it as I am Crysis. I am liking Kayne & Lynch. I really think this has some promise with its Co-op approach and possibly extremely engaging story line.... but it's still not Crysis Jericho seems more like a random assortment of ideas from other games have been thrown into a shooter... =/ I really did not see what was so astounding about Gears of War. The story was idiotic and annoying and the duck and shoot mechanic had been played to death already. Halo 3 is looking less and less promising as the days go by. Mass Effect in my opinion is going to be the game of the year. However, I still think Crysis will sell more copies for the simple fact that it has been hyped much more (in a community basis, Mass Effect obviously has more media with Bioware) and for the fact that its engine looks extremely nice. Mass Effect's dialogue makes my mouth water though. Still, with the omission of Mass Effect, I would much rather play Crysis than any game on that list.

I love how people of the Islamic faith in the States find it their duty to criticize not only the Jihadists of the Middle East, but the American culture that supposedly "discriminates" against them. As a Muslim you don't have to "Set the record straight" at all, and you should not have the obligation to do so because "Setting the record straight" is a form of justification not only for you, but for the Christian Crusaders and the Islamic Jihadists of the present. Everyone seems to want to set the record straight about whom or what they really are, whilst hating every other possible religion and/or culture. Maybe the solution would not for us to think of each other as Muslims, Christians, Jews etc; or as Americans, Israelis, Palestinians etc; but rather as humans, humans who have a duty to one another in our great world. This is coming from a Liberal Quasi-Socialist who is a member of an interfaith organization.

Below post is very true in my experiencee burning thousands of DVD's and CD's. Anyway, I find DVD+RW and anything rewritable to be pretty much crap when played in anything but a PC. If I'm giving an old movie to a friend, I always give DVD-R's; and nothing but that... I love Nero. I bought a blue ray burner..... and..... Oh god It is amazing but a total waste of money right now. Look slike blue ray is going to take control of the market though.

I think evil should be closer to home than we think. I think in videogames, the plot job of the "bad guy" or the "evil guy" should be muddled with many different things; so as to show that life is not that black and white. Nothing is pure evil and nothing is pure good in our world. In fact, most everything in corrupted in some way. Most of the time, we get by choosing the least virulent poison. Never was this illustrated as beautifully as in the original Deus Ex. : )

Honestly, I wasn't incredibly impressed by the first Half-Life for other than the fact that is spawned CS, probably the best multiplayer game of all time. Half-Life 2 was bloody brilliant though.

What game would you rather see Obsidian work on
St_Jimmy replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
I would love to see them do an FPS and expand their boundries as a developer. (i.e make their own content) -
I'm buying a new CPU and GFX from newegg this week. I'm excited for Crysis but not as much as I am for Bioshock.... Halo 3 is looking less and less appealing. Mass effect is the next KOTOR

I found pretty much everything about the new trilogy odd.

What would you think about...
St_Jimmy replied to Darth Hades's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I like the idea, just not fanfic; I never bother to read those. I always wondered if the Force was such a great weapon, why the Jedi ever bothered to use lightsabers when they could just use powers like Kreia did. I always thought Nihilus was scarier when he did not have a lightsaber. I'd probably love it, but I think a videogame is already being made about that. (The Force Unleashed)
