When a scenario is built, it takes from the cards available in the Vault. Cards available from the vault include everything from all deck tiers minus cards that the characters in the party owns. If you have two Lightning Bolt spell cards and there are only two in the vault, there is no chance of finding one in the scenario. If you have one party continuously playing through the game and don't mix in match characters with another party, you generally won't exceed this limit. There are two ways to exceed this limit. Combine characters from different parties into one. This the only way you would see multiple characters with an Impaler of Thorns loot card for example. We mostly allow this without limit. You will see in Deck 4 a card that works a little differently called the Emerald Codex. You will only be able to have one full strength version per party. When we award loot cards to a party, we delegate which character gets each loot card. We also grant specific other cards to the characters who didn't get loot. We don't look at the vault limitations when granting these cards. So it's possible that Seoni could end up with three Lightning Bolts because of that.

As a quick note, I rearranged the vault tiers for certain cards in Quest Mode. There are a number of cards that were built for flavor (like Yap the Pixie), that are not quite as powerful as the deck they come from and vice versa. There are other reasons why powerful cards original start in lower decks in story mode, but Quest mode is built to be more universally balanced. Treasure Chest Cards and the Character Add-On Deck both circumvent this.

Funny story, I almost campaigned to change Valeros' armor power feat, until my programmer, George, pointed out a number of armor cards that take advantage of discard. We do want to support a way to reset powers eventually, but it may be a little bit. I'll probably package it with another feature set that I can't talk about yet. ...secrets...

I won't address any comment specifically in this thread. However, you should know that we keep an eye on the threads and take feedback seriously. I will throw in some context. In general, we've come at the business model with the commitment to both get as many people exposed to the game as possible and give PACG fans a way to buy the physical game digitally. The answer to the former was to make it free. The answer to the latter was to create a bundle that gives players access to everything you'd find in PACG: Rise of the Runelords. Between those two answers a system has to exist to allow players to earn content by playing, while also allowing bundle-owners a way to participate in that economy. Thus, we created treasure chests. We are continuing to develop our feature set and store mechanics. What are you seeing now is the beginning. We will be adding more content with each big update. Some of it will be aesthetic, like new dice skins. While others will have gameplay implications like [REDACTED]. I won't rule out offering a deal to purchase a subset of specific cards or offering a way to earn specific cards through gameplay in the future. These are elements that we constantly evaluate with each update.

Promo deck
Nathan Davis replied to Kkhel's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Our ordering will be a bit different than this, but the idea is the same. Promos are available in all decks and tiers. And we don't have specific plans for releasing promos apart from the bundle, but haven't ruled anything out. -
A lot of good points in this thread. I figure I should give you the official word. We discussed a number of ways we could do this, and when I asked the opinion of the original designers, they suggested culling all Basics at once (but not Blessings). I thought that would be a bit extreme and I always liked the gradual shedding of Basics/Elites from the box. I briefly considered tracking which cards were culled on a per Character basis, but that was a fair amount of data to save. We decided to do a couple of things with it. First, we separated the concepts of the Vault used in a Scenario to create Location decks and so forth from the Vault used to fill in missing cards in Card Selection. So if you are missing a spell slot in your Card List, Cure will always be there. Second, we simulate the effect of culling cards by removing a percentage of Basics, starting in Deck 3, that grows with each Scenario you do. We never cull 100% of them, so you will still run into the occasional Basic or Elite in deck 6.

1.5 Thistletop Delve is painful for Sajan solo. But possible! Nualia will start off dealing 1d4 Force damage, then follow it up with two combat checks. Both penalize you for using Blessings. The trick is to find a ranged weapon and some armor while in the scenario. You can banish the armor to deal with the Force attack and use the weapon to reduce your reliance on blessings. Also the Staff of Minor Healing is a must have for solo Sajan.

Zombie Minions have Veteran status. Ameiko's Ally card packs a bit more of a punch. A number of Henchmen had their difficulties ticked up. We thought about making the BYA checks that increase difficulty if you fail have some more impact (like adding 2 or 3 to the difficulty vs 1), but haven't done it.

Promo Cards
Nathan Davis replied to Whyme0887's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
There may be other ways to earn promo cards in the future. However, buying the bundle is the only way to guarantee that you get them.- 1 reply

The vault composition of Quest mode is a bit different than Story Mode. It's built to make treasure chest cards more likely to appear and make the each deck or tier more universally balanced (rather than based on theme or specific scenarios). Adventure deck purchases are not required to see cards from story mode decks, but progress to higher decks or tiers should be generally slower than it is in Story Mode. That all being said, we would love feedback about this. Particularly after the next update is released. Which will be very soon.

Two questions
Nathan Davis replied to Kamikazi's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Yes, we will have an update soon that fixes salvage! And unlocked cards go into the vault for you to find in your adventures. While this means you don't get the card right away, any and all parties you play with now have a chance to get it. -
The rewards should be based on the progress each individual character makes. Loot rewards are kind of an exception in that if someone in your party has a particular loot card, you should not receive Loot again (though the ancillary card rewards should still be granted). If you find a case where this isn't happening, let us know!

Hannibal is correct. The vault is all cards available for the current party in play, which includes all cards the party has in play (discard, hand, deck, bury, display). The Gallery includes all cards you own. Making the Vault dynamic (based on character decks) would be possible, but you may run into a similar problem where players look at their vault and think cards are missing because they are in a character deck. We've chosen to make it more of a reference for all the cards available to play, rather than a place to see how many specific cards may be in a location deck.
