  1. Have someone else play a chanter and summon and focus on Chanter Passives yourself. Just summon at the start of the fight, then poink away. Pick up the buffs and the "Energizer Bunny" Invocation. Win?
  2. 10+ in everything. However, max Int for longer summon duration. 14 or so in Perception. Not super important since it's not you who will be doing the damage. However, you still want some Perception for your ice invocations vs fire immunes. 14 or so in Dex . Dex is arguably more important than Per so you can get your summons faster. 10-12 or so in Might. Whatever in anything else. So the answer is: "no." You don't need to min/max. Just stack armor and defenses and regen, and summon and that's really all there is to it. Once you hit level 10+ the only way you're going to get killed is if you're overconfident [Oh look. 4 Xaurip High Priests and 5 Xaurip Plague Stalkers. Lets run into the middle of the pack and cast our ice invocation. After all, the invocation works better when you're surrounded by enemies, and it's not like they can kill you (they can)] Or: [Oh look, a room of 25 high-level enemies (Nemmok's room). Let's aggro EVERYONE and stand in the middle of the room and chant]. [Also, after level 15, it requires 5 Eatons whaling way to do enough damage to kill you. Four Eatons whaling away, however, is fine. You can tank through that].
  3. You don't have to have that chant. Have some other team member in the back lines carry it. Give Pallegina a pistol and a shield and have her be your bodyguard and summoner.
  4. Time spent summoning is going to be a problem. Your char won't be doing a lot of attacks since half the time you'll be summoning. Ranger poinks away with auto-attacks. Chanters summon. The two don't mix well. Since you're not soloing, a better idea is to have a dedicated summoner (e.g. Pallegina as Chanter/Paladin) and have MC as Ranger/Devoted with Warbows or guns. The other strong (and more fun) option is Ranger/Ascended Cipher. Poink away until you ascend, then disintegrate the enemies.
  5. I've had Trial of Iron runs end like that, too. Which is why when I do Trial of Iron again I'm going to make EVERYONE a tank.
  6. There's actually a philosophical design principle behind it. With this build, as long as you meet the minimum requirements (stack defenses and regen), "anything goes." I find most of the builds "too specific", which makes them fragile. I prefer builds that emphasize "overlapping defensive systems" so if things go wrong or something is nerfed, you're not f-ed. Even if Brand Enemy was nerfed, this build still works. And if you run into a bad situation, where, for example, too many enemies are pulled, you'll still come out alive.
  7. But that's the great thing about the build! None of it matters. 1. Any Unique Heavy Armor. 2. Any Unique Large Shield. 3. Get some Regen items and play Pal/Chanter. Get the Paladin-Unique Talents that improve armor or defenses. Use any DOT and Summon Ogres. 4. Win. No gimmick to it. Once you stack enough deflection and armor and regen pretty much nothing can kill you. It's not like all of the other squishy builds that needs some specific strategy or playstyle to stay alive. There IS no strategy or tactic to this character other than "walk into battle and summon stuff and watch your enemies die." Brand Enemy isn't even strictly necessary (just useful to speed fights up). That's why I kept it "non-specific." Try it and you'll see my point. I chose Patinated Plate and Cadhu because they come early and they're awesome, but any other unique heavy shield and armor would work, too.
  8. Do you have any recommendations, then? I like the idea of a Barbarian/Monk multiclass as well, honestly. Troubador/Wizard Nothing beats that 5 Eatons and 3 Elder Flame Bats. Also, the Nemnok room fight where there's like 20-25 enemies. Try soloing that with your Troubador/Wizard.
  9. HAHAHAHAHA. No your build is just boring and it's been done before. It will take a loooooong time for brand enemy to kill enemies while you are stealthed and hiding somewhere. Dunehunter here suggested before to actually use more damage over time abilities that last for the whole combat. I forgot exactly what abilities he suggested using but if you want to optimize your build, go talk to him. No, no, no. You don't stealth. You stand there and watch the enemies futilely try to kill you. And then flop and die. That's the fun of it. You don't need Brand Enemy. The idea is to make the ultimate tank (Dragon Thrashed, Summons and Soft Winds of Death can kill pretty much everything over time). Brand Enemy just speeds fights up. Turn game speed to max and watch them die. When you've got enough damage reduction and armor that everyone hits you for an average 6 health/hit and you're regening 6 health/sec, there's not much that can kill you, at which point all you need is some DPS to eventually kill them all. Anywho, I'm jealous. Grrrrrrrrr.
  10. Put on as much armor and regen on Pallegina or a hired Paladin/Chanter. Send only her in (keep everyone else in the back with stealth). Have her cast brand enemy on the fampyrs (the paladin skill that does continuous fire damage). Go and eat lunch. Come back in 15 minutes and all of the fampyrs are dead. [This trick works. That's how i soloed it.] The fampyrs are cheesy so they deserve to be cheesed.
  11. The thing with that build is that it's so strong that it really doesn't matter. Just click on every Paladin skill that gives passive armor or deflection, and Lay of Hands, and every chanter skill that gives regen or summons, put on heavy armor and the best heavy shield, and you can breeze through 95% of the content. There isn't anything to it. You brand your enemies, summon things, and watch everything around you slowly die.
  12. VeilPiercer. Amazing bow, but normally by the time you get it the game's already over. Any way to cheese the quest early?
  13. Paladin/Chanter. Put on heavy armor and best shield you can find. Max Defenses. Summon stuff. Do your regen and DOT chant-y stuff. And win. Once you play Paladin/Chanter you'll realize how crappy 99% of the other builds are.
  14. No, no, no. The idea is to stack enough defenses and regen that they can't kill you. Lvling is easy with that. And use brand. Currently running chanter/paladin and the only thing that I'm having trouble with is Deathwarden Lutac. Turns out I can't solo 4 eotons and 3-4 elder bats because they heal themselves. They're the only thing I've found so far that can reliably kill my char.
  15. Wizard/Paladin. Pale Elf (Important for their Burn and Freeze Armor!) Simple idea: stack as many regen items and armor and deflection as possible. Let the enemies swarm you. Cast Chill Cloud and Wall of Fire at your location. Brand your enemies so they take even more damage. Then wait and see who dies first. (Bring a Scroll of Withdrawal if you want to cheat).
  16. My build is better than yours! (But yours are more popular since they start with sexy pictures). (Marketing, marketing, marketing).
  17. To survive in the front lines you really pretty much need heavy armor as helwalker on POTD. Otherwise too squishy.
