  1. It kinda reminds me of one talk Josh Sawyer gave at ca. 2015? about game design and approaching the dialogue choices so that the player can always have consistent options to choose from and all of them should work and allow for achieving the goal. Instead of making one correct path and having the player sacrifice rp for "winning"/hacking the system. (For example, when creating a character you could spend points on skills that never come up in a dialogue; that would be a poor design). In PoE1 there was a number of instances where resolve was the only solution. It also relied rather heavy on having a cipher. In Deadfire I think there's overall more freedom in picking and choosing your options although come to think of it, having high Insight seemed to come up rather often. Still don't know what I'm exactly missing by not playing as a priest but other than that... picking a class seems to have more repercussions in combat than dialogues.
  2. Thanks for bringing up the content related to Crookspur and Poko Kahara, I never brought Pallegina there with me so I had no idea how she reacts to that. I think I'll do this in my current playthrough. I'll admit... I was kinda heartbroken for Pallegina because my dumb self believed that the hinted Kind Wayfarer ending would mean more personal growth for Pallegina. Filling the space left by Republics with her own personhood? Sorry if I make little sense. But ultimately it wasn't that kind of story.
  3. Ciphers seem to have options that come up in the scripted events - they can sense if others are nearby or scan creatures' brains. Priests seem to get more rp options in dialogue, but I've yet to play a priest long enough to report just how significant it is. If you're a ranger you can ask your animal companion to check the fish in the crew event at sea. That's all I know.
  4. I tried going there with my lvl 9 party and the first enemy basically wiped the floor with me :d. I think you should really try at 14 lvl as they recommend.
  5. Well, iirc the third dlc will be centered on the circle of archmages, so maybe then we'll get the new robes?
  6. Ok, if we're bringing up our expectations we had for the main quest, then maybe I could share mine. I pursued Eothas to learn more of his plan. From the first conversation with him and the later at Hasongo I got a feeling of impending doom. I thought he is either bringing end of the world or he knows something's up and tries to stop it. I chased him because I wanted to learn. I expected that the game will then tell me that actually, despite the destruction he leaves in his wake, Eothas is doing the right thing. And this will be the point where Berath's chime comes in to play and Watcher is forced to either obey Berath or join Eothas at a risk of getting killed. Well, it's not quite what happened and I was left confused about the implications of breaking the Wheel and there's was no chime drama. My biggest gripe is not enough lore and making Ukaizo so short. But I didn't really think my job was to stop him. I don't know, I was still kinda disappointed in this plotline but for different reasons it seems.
  7. You can meet two old elves, Undyne and Oswald. They both fought in Defiance War (Dyrwood independence war) on opposing sides. (To talk with Undyne abour the war I had to do it before meeting her with Serafen in the party). It's kinda cool because it helps to make sense of the timeline etc and realize how relatively short Dyrwood's history is and how far elves' memory can go (relative to humans and other kith with similar lifespan). I don't necessarily think it should give elves a specific personality, cause that kinda sounds like a cliche and relying on boring stereotypes? Instead of treating each elf as an individual. I think we'd see more of the division between elves and humans perception if we explored places like Aedyr where elves make up a large chunk of the society and dominant cultures.
  8. They didn't reconcile in my first pt either, I just think it might be based on time that passed since their conversations.
  9. I expected a longer conversation. Maybe some verbal sparring, like with Ondra in White March. Also I would prefer if the Wheel-smashing business was explained a little better so I know why should I stop Eothas in the first place, like what exactly is going to happen, because for a while I had a hard time understanding difference between breaking the Wheel and destroying it altogether and which one of those Eothas wants to do. Other than that, I didn't expect an epic tale of the Watcher becoming a superhero so I don't really have a problem with that. I would prefer it though if the story felt a little more personal, with more weird stuff that only a Watcher can experience. There were elements here and there but I'd prefer more.
  10. I agree with Amentep. Also I never tried attacking Eothas but according to wikia there's an ending where Watcher attacks Eothas and dies immediately, absorbed by him.
  11. Tekehu has pro-Huana and anti-Rauatai listed in his relationship circle thingy, this is basically the only place he draws the line. With VTC he's like "i see if huana couldn't convince you to join them then i can't either" and just asks if VTC would still open the Ukaizo for Huana or if they would leave once they're done learning whatever they can from it. He's hopeful, but unconvinced. With Rauatai it's basically colonization and he can't accept that. He is very polite and gentle and rarely shows anger but it hurts him to his core. I don't know how he feels about Principi, because I haven't finished that playthrough yet.
  12. It would be fairly easy with companions but who shows up at Ukaizo doesn't seem to be that straightforward, judging by what people reported.
  13. There's no mixed reputation afaik. Unlike rep with factions. So if Eder gets mad at you and you have -1 with him but then you tell five jokes and pet some dogs you'll get back to 0. Depending on your reputations with them companions will have different barks/say different things when you click on them or when you start a conversation. I know that Aloth brings up your dispositions in some dialogues; if you're rational/diplomatic/stoic he'll say "we have so much in common", if you're aggressive he'll compare you to Iselmyr. If you get negative rep with him he will criticize you and if you're still a diplomatic person he will say sth like "you've always chose your words carefully so I don't know why you're behaving like this now". I think that if you repair your rep with him afterwards he will have another conversation with you where he remarks on your change. At least I think I heard that one in DanaDuchy's videos at yt, others I experienced in my own pts. I don't know about other companions though, they may have less reactivity.
  14. Before the game launch someone asked Josh Sawyer at tumblr about the different sort of relationships companions may have and he replied that companions' relationships will always be the same. The point of relationship system was to make sense of ways they respond to each other, e.g. unless Pallegina starts talking about how she hates gods Xoti won't start yelling at her and calling her a blasphemous heretic. When I first read about the relationship system, the vague way it was worded, I too was thinking that it may mean different approaches each playthrough. But I guess it just meant that the player may have different sort of relationships with companions.
  15. With one-sentence description you can fill in the blanks with whatever interpretation you think would work best; with fleshed-out companions you might be left with disappointment at how they were handled and how unexplored some of their aspects were. Looking at sidekicks we have I wouldn't call most of them more interesting than the companions, though I believe all of them could be fleshed out in interesting ways. But if reading this forum has taught me anything is that it's all very subjective.
  16. He is confirmed to have banter but also he is explicitly called a sidekick literally in the first page of this thread. I take it as a confirmation of his status. Also Rekke is a sidekick but after an in-game month or so he learns Aedyran and you can talk to him. Has some content, still a sidekick. What sidekicks don't have is the relationship system.
  17. Not every ship has a slot for a boatswain. Sloop doesn't. Putting a sailor with some ranks in boatswain at the helm doesn't make him an acting boatswain but a helmsman. Boatswain coordinates the deckhands.
  18. Ok with an example like this I guess I now understand the difference between breaking the Wheel and destroying it completely.
  19. It's my understanding that The Engwithans build over the Wheel or reworked it in order to sustain their newly created gods by soul plankton that sheds from souls each time they re-enter the cycle. Maybe the gods were created so that the cycle of reincarnation could be manipulated in favorable way to Engwithans? Though this claim isn't that well supported; we have Thaos who was Woedica's favorite and we have those poor Pale Elves who were trapped into reincarnating in the same place over and over and after Awakening decided to commit final suicide via Frost-Hewn Breach. So it looks like to some extent the re-incarnation process can be manipulated by gods. That's how I understand it. I don't think it's a retcon. (Though I still don't understand how breaking the Wheel differs from destroying the Wheel, i.e. how Eothas manages to break it just a little? so it still works... but doesn't. Basically I'm still not sure what the ending means).
  20. There are no full color versions of watercolor portraits; full color portraits take several hours to make, watercolor portraits were a way to save up time. "Reverse engineering" a watercolor portrait into a full portrait would require changing the size, tracing the lines and basically painting it over.
  21. Well in other thread on Atsura, Incendax noted that there are two ciphers in Atsura's office and proposed that they might be feeding him intel telepathically. So yeah, RDC definitely employs ciphers and I can totally see a cipher working as a spy for Rauatai. Also Rauatai is against mining luminous adra, but who's to say what their overall stance on animancy as a whole is. Cautious, for sure, but stuff like mind-reading? Can't say for sure. Also in my experience Ciphers had less unique dialogue in PoE2. A good chunk of those unique dialogue options were in scripted events, e.g. when you encounter a large sea creature a cipher can scan its mind to see if they're sentient. That sort of thing. In PoE1 being a cipher felt almost... crucial in some quests. Chanters are among Rauatai's elite force called Ruquapa, which consists also of barbarians and wizards. They're the vanguard. Lore College has a big cultural significance too. Not sure if that's what you were pointing to in your post? Anyway on a surface level chanters from Rauatai don't seem to be trained for subtle tasks like diversion? Ofc with roleplay you can play against the type etc. and it shouldn't restrict your choices. Personally I'm biased towards playing as a cipher, simply because it felt so rewarding in PoE1. One of my newer Watchers in Deadfire is a multiclass chanter but I'm not that far into game and haven't formed an opinion yet.
  22. From what I recall Resolve was used in conversations with Serafen to supress the visions of his past/memories and the Spindle Man to block his mind probing yours for secrets. Otherwise there were some Resolve checks were you use strength of your character to command others to stop in situations like with that guy who was overstaying his welcome at Kraken's Eye in Port Maje and iirc the dueling Vailians in Queen's Berth. So to sum up, your low resolve character might be at a risk of getting their mind invaded by ciphers. You would be able to coax up info from people with high insight, sometimes diplomacy and lie well with high bluff.
  23. I think that PL should be: Czy masz norweską błękitną? I checked the polish translation of the original sketch done by Beksiński.
