  1. Playing through D3 again, this is my opinion. Apples to oranges you might say, but I say hogwash. D3's focus is combat, which I would argue is also PoE2's, under different umbrellas. However PoE2's story dissolves but D3 actually gets stronger. It's gripping and focused whereas PoEs main story is loose and unfocused. Sure you don't play D3 for the story, but it may help you stay, which I say is vice versa for PoE2 (come for the story, stay for the combat). Also the voice acting in D3 is top notch - brevity is the soul of wit - which Obsidian is slowly learning. Hate me, come at me, but I may have a pt.
  2. I think the worst change was due to criticism about the long-winded writing in the first. So now the game has more brevity but the writing can be downright cringey or confusing. I'll give you an example - In one of the better faction quests you have the opportunity to oust the current Director for one of his underlings. Some political drama. The problem is...we barely know anything about his underlying so the dialogue is really disjointed, like we are convinced even though she is barely above a random NPC. It feels like something is missing. I actually remember a review using this same example and it sticks out to me.
  3. What's the issue exactly? She's channeling her inner Ned Flanders and saying "hidely ho neighbor!"
  4. Agreed. Maybe the most overhyped game I've played.
  5. 'ccording to early game feedback telemetry, literal nobody were playing shaman. can't say such anymore as Gromnir did play a wael priest+berserker for our second run... I'm confused...aren't you Gromnir o_O?
  6. Pillars is turning more and more into Diablo
  7. Octopath Traveler will prob win but I'm glad to see it get nominated. Let's hope PoE3 is the best of both 1 & 2.
  8. Which thread would this actually be? Only thing I've heard is that the Director of Marketing was fired due to sales, this was a clause in his contract even. I mean, given how relatively little buzz there has been about Deadfire, firing the director of marketing seems completely correct. Agreed.
  9. PoE1 and 2 are both great games. However I don't think they reach the pinnacle of storytelling like BG2.
  10. Yes, and that's why the writing suffered. Budget for voice actors and less dialogue. No, the full voice acing was a stretch goal. Yep house2fly proved that above.
  11. You need a certain potion to recruit them.
  12. This is good news. I fought them on my first pt and I imagine I will fight them again on my second, when I side with the VTC. I am wondering if blowing up the powderhouse weakens them in someway. I didn't this playthrough.
  13. I play her as a priest on classic difficulty. I'm playing her ranged, since she's rather squishy, even when equipped with high tier gear and a lot of athletics. My problem with her pure Priest is her high level spells suuckkkk. I like her as a multi.
  14. You can also mod the level cap up! This is cool because it lets multiclass characters get max power level Mods can actually solve a lot of issues (difficulty too), but instead of using them, people prefer to demand changes from Obsidian. Apparently the thought of modifying the game to suit their needs, without affecting other people, disgusts them somehow. And Obs simply caves in if you scream loud enough. To be fair fixing inherent problems in a game shouldn't be our responsibility. I can understand differing viewpoints on what balanced. Still if the majority of feedback about your game is that it's too easy, then it really doesn't matter if there's mods to make it harder. That's like saying Skyrim should be rated Ao because there's mods to allow for full penetrative sex. The existence of mods shouldn't have any bearing on how you rate the base product. Mods shouldn't be required to enjoy a game fully either. It might be a problem for you and Steve, but it's not a problem for me and John. By tipping the scale in either side, one group will always be left unhappy. Instead, many games have mods that allow you to customize the experience to your liking. If you expect the developers to change something instead of using them, you're just being selfish. https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/9v2nq7/we_now_have_a_sense_of_just_how_badly_deadfire/ And this is the result of trying to please everyone and constantly changing the game. A flop (even though it only counts after-release sales, not backers). Even Blizzard figured out where the money is, shat at their core fans and is making a mobile Diablo game, because they know that will bring in the dough. The irony is the backlash from Diablo Immortal caused their stock to crash.
  15. Are Legendary crew and expert shipman necessary? I feel like the best ones are def the extra money, Eldar Pet, and Adra stone. I play solo, so eder pet is useless for me. Adra Stone? You can get infinite when you kill belranga over and over +several adra ban and adra dust every fight. Haven't fought her yet. So she keeps respawning?
