Best Single Class Ranger Build?
The problem with the class in a nutshell. And, this is just subjective, but it's painfully boring.

SPOILERS About the end
I think it's mostly the Gods who are up in arms about the Wheel, bc they will no longer be fed. Otherwise like you said...life will go on. Maybe the kith who are concerned are focused on the lack of reincarnation, which is something I guess they've gotten used to. Overall the main story is pretty weak tho, esp the lack of substance in convos with the Gods. If you think too much about it you might go mad

BG2 and POE2 (not what you think)
Verde replied to Grimo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It's not really that short tho. That's one of the reasons it's so hated. I can't recall that NN2 section, but I'm gonna look it up.

BG2 and POE2 (not what you think)
Verde replied to Grimo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Blasphemy! Underdark was one of the best parts! The Underdark is what would happen if the worst parts of the Fade and the Deep Roads from DAO had a baby. The Fade is one of the worst RPG levels of all time. There is no comparison.

Frustrated by the game design
Verde replied to swapoer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)A lot of people really, really did not like the widespread nerfs in 1.1. I bet it showed up in their metrics too. Out of curiosity, I went back to the Announcements page and read the patch threads. Yikes. Pretty harsh.

How's Psion for a Melee Cipher Build?
The 20% Deception range does help...it's quite noticeable. What makes you say otherwise? Plus you get Focus back for using Deception spells. Scion appears half baked at this point.

FEE (like what a bank charges) - on (like being atop something) - ledge (like being where the roof ends) As a note, he will always say his name during the player's first conversation with him, regardless of where he is or what the player chooses, specifically because it's kind of weird. Thank you sir.

Verde replied to swapoer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)How long after the game's release was the mod made? And I'm sure it took quite a lot of polishing. That is correct. But it was done. For free. And yet the games we get nowadays still have ****ter AI than SCS.

BG2 and POE2 (not what you think)
Verde replied to Grimo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)But it is more fun then the tunnel vision we have in PoE. And like others said, its about fun. One thing I've mulled over is just how combat centric Deadfire feels...like everything but the graphics took a backseat.

BG2 and POE2 (not what you think)
Verde replied to Grimo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Don't get me wrong - BG1 and 2 will always be my favourite games. But POE1 and 2 have very much replaced them as my go-to CRPG itch to scratch. The combat in particular in BG2 I just found unbearable in my latest play through fresh off the wonderful Forgotten Sanctum. I can understand that.

Verde replied to swapoer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's not very practical. I can't think of too many games where increase difficulty doesn't mean inflated values.

Would you consider Max INT on a Single Class Rogue ?
Toxic Strike was a secondary reason though. The main reason was the duration of Vanishing Strike invisibility which is a basically a short duration god mode. Assassination + backstab add + 25Per, +4Pen, +100% Damages and +50% critical damages so any way to increase the duration would provide a lot of benefit to the spike DPS which is the reason for a Single Class Rogue build. Maxing Dex is anyway a priority if one wants to max the number of strikes while invisibile. So this is about Per vs Int. Or maybe maxing both while dumping a bit other stats. For a "normal multiclass rogue", I wouldn't prioritarize Int over Per. So the very last ability you get is the main reason? Sorry I'm not buying that. There is too much game in between and too much anxiety waiting to reach that level to say it's the main reason. Now if you were to argue that invisibility/ duration from all related abilities, sure I'll buy that. I like the idea of a high Int Assassin. When you say normal multiclass, high Int is great on a Mindstalker.

What would stats look like with maxing Dex Per and Int?

Verde replied to swapoer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)agreed. two most common complaints of every obsidian game, at least previous to poe: the game is too hard. the game is too easy. every game. all games has 'bove two as most common complaints. both complaints. same games. is folks complaining 'bout how game is less fun than they wish or hope. so how do you make game fun for most players? am thinking is pretty well established some amount o' balance in crpgs is necessary. refer to josh post if are still unclear why balance is essential even in sp games. so, how you gonna balance? balance the game so is fun for folks who is using a small number op builds and weapons? if balanced for op play, then for folks who do not use such op stuff, the game will be difficult and frustrating... less fun. balancing while keeping op op will also functional reduce customization options as actual useful builds is limited. an alternative balance scheme is to make op stuff less op... which is what the past few pages o' thread has addressed. the choice for developers wanting to maximize fun for most players is not gonna involve difficult calculus. HA! Good Fun! Blame the game is too easy on power gamers who turn everything into a chest beating competition. you do realize such folks tend to be same people who gravitate to op builds and sooper weapons, yes? regardless, is not a fault issue. it simple is. obsidian takes customers as they find 'em. obsidian is trying to make game enjoyable for power gamers and casual gamers and noobs. obsidian creates a difficulty slider and folks still complain 'bout same two issues: too ez; too hard. HA! Good Fun! Oh I know...that's what powergaming is Open up that can of worms, and you get a big wormhole! "But but but the game is too easy solo on max difficulty with x5 power mod...this is unacceptable and needs changed!"

Verde replied to swapoer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)"I really don't understand why they balance a single player game!" "Here's a good explanation why." "That's too long! I have no time for that! I'd rather write several more long posts about how I don't get why they balance a single player game!" Lol you could have provided snippets...but I never said anything about not understanding. I understand why, I just don't agree with it :] but thanks for sharing. It will make for a longggggggggg bathroom read at some pt
