FS Collection area
Verde replied to Crucis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
So I completed FS for a second time and there is something very important to note - you can easily fail Berkana’s quest if you follow Llengrath's instructions. So if you want to complete her quest, do it asap (which corroborates what the poster above says). -
The wave cutscene is the indication that the DLC has started. Nothing adds added to the journal until you go to the Black Isle (which now should have tentacles) and enter the Hall of the Unseen and decent the newly opened dungeon in the centre of the puzzle map. Just wanted to say that Forgotten Sanctum has jus triggered for me, I am at level 13, didn’t do Ashen Maw and just got the wave cutscene (I did complete Hall of the Unseen). The isle has tentacles and the dungeon below can be accessed. I have not completed Berkana’s sidequest. Did you also get the Llengrath cutscene? I was mistaken. I did not get any cutscene until I finished the powderhouse quest. It seems a number of things get stuck when that quest is "in progress".

time to turn on one of Eothas, Rymrgand, or Woedica challenges then edit: yeah, separating out trap detection to perception is one of the weirder decisions that they made that I don't fully get. It's the only stat that has an "environmental" effect... Mod idea - make sleight of hand also the trap detection skill somehow and rename it something like "thuggery" or something. would actually make it really useful. Sure...I'll turn on those challenges so traps are more significant *eye roll* lol I've been playing on Ryms challenge. It's one of the better ones. I may do Eothos, but prob not bc I like exploring. For Woedica, I will never ever go back to per rest! Never!!!

Dude you legit get way too triggered off this criticism. It's clear you don't agree with it, but it's in no way "stupid" or trigger worthy. Relax. Many people both agree and disagree with it. It seems like a step back because it feels clunky and arbitrary. One of the main issues is that most Grimoires aren't unique AND you still pick spells at start up. Why not one or the other? It lacks in-game reasoning.
-
You make a good pt. However you can just rest right after so they aren't that significant. I guess I'd prefer Mechanics to dictate trap detection not Per (as it's already the King stat) and I'm fine with the current system. It's not really that big of deal tbh I do agree that traps are important to the dungeon experience.

How are the druid dialogues?
Verde replied to nouser's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I haven't noticed much, but there is def decent reactivity for a Godlike which you should you should think about rolling as a Druid. I'm on a playthrough with a Moon Godlike Universalist (Priest of Wael/Lifegiver) and it's my fav playthrough yet. It fits the Watcher image well. What type of MC you thinkin about rollin? -

I haven't played SSS but BoW is slightly harder than main game, FS is MUCH harder. -

Boarding is much more fun imho -
You should generally avoid boarding fights because they make no sense - unless you like fights with no special outcome (items or achievements for example) - just for the sake of fighting. Of course on PotD solo combat is not impossible and one don't have to avoid any fight. Plenty of people here did and do solo megabosses. If one can solo megabosses one can solo anything in the game. Doesn't necessarily mean that you can do it of course. Could be possible if you way out level the boarding fight you're doing or figure out some cheese tactic of breaking the game. If you can show us a video or screenshots of you soloing the Vailian trading company expert captain on POTD at level 6 or lower I would love to see it though. :D What do you have against boarding fights? It's a quick and easy way to upgrade to exceptional gear and make a crapload of money. Even tho it can be easy to wanna jump all over our resident expert (hehe jk Boeroer *heart*) his logic is pretty sound. In a solo run, it makes no sense to go 1v20 in a boarding fight when you can do a tremendously easier ship v ship combat. As for party campaigns I also go with boarding bc I find it more fun and efficient but I'm usually fighting captains near or below my level on Vet so they start insta gibbing by late game haha.

I'm fine with that as well Aeons. I would miss Eder tho haha. Whatever they do I want more companion reactivity, one of my biggest gripes about Deadfire. I'm sure it's crazy time consuming to code all the variables for each convo so the solutions is simple - create reactivity for important convos or decisions, not every single one.

The Grimoires sure don't feel unique. And not being able to scribe them makes zero sense. Aloth and Fas both have personal grimoires...at some point they created them...so why can't they modify them? A wizard making it a habit out of using randomly found grimoires is silly and goes against the theme of students of arcane knowledge. Like you can't scribe your own grimoire but you can come across a lich's grimoire and instantly slot it? But we know the real reason is gameplay focused, and from that perspective, the lack of customization fails.

Eder absolutely must be in PoE3. Must! Besides him I think Ydwin makes sense and forever-needy Aloth, but PoE 3 could really wipe the slate clean since so many of the companions have their reasons to leave. I don't think I can deal with blindly loyal Pallegina anymore : X (unless there is a story arch to convince her otherwise). What I'd love to see is Obs pushing the envelope with cameos. The formula usually is - based on the decisions in the previous game, you get a brief cameo, usually having little to no influence besides nostalgia. However in PoE3 I'd like to see see your PoE2 companion decisions actually influence the story or help out in some way. If you nudged Xoti to the light side she will show up and help during an Eothos or Eder quest. Otherwise you only hear rumors of her bloodlust but may be able to track her last known whereabouts and find a powerful item. Tekehu - if he stays an artist you can encounter him on your travels and he may have a quest, but the Huana haven't progressed as much as you'd think. On the other hand, if he did unite the tribes, he is in a position of power and allows easier persuasion checks with the Watcher but does not join you for any quests. Mass Effect did stuff like this to a degree and I would love to see it.
