I was in the States once and they tried to put cream in my tea. Cream, if you can countenance it! It's those barbarians that should be getting a drone-bombing.
-
The Taliban is a tea party? Then why the hell are we drone-bombing them? They sound like perfectly decent chaps to me.

Pretty grotty here, the ten minute walk to work was enough to soak me, screw walking for fun.

I'm entering my mid-thirties this year, so I'll probably have to do something about losing some weight. I'm not fat, as such, but my God-given Latino style snakehips are starting to look a little out of place after a good fifteen years of booze and chips.

First serious day back at work today and it's been a bit f***-crazy. Everybody's forgotten everything over the Christmas period and I spent an hour this morning talking one woman through changing her wireless password.
-
Hope this isn't too big, but I went to Bruges for a pre-Christmas holiday.

I have never eaten so much food, I swear. Back to work today whilst the girlfriend is still sleeping. Not cool.

I'm just going to weigh in with my extensive experience firing air rifles (two or three times years ago) and 12 gauge shotguns (once) and say that their muzzle reports were definitely different. Happy to help, kids, no need to thank me.

I am in Belgium, so beer and chocolate.

That's not just any old rusty frigate, either. It's HMS Monmouth. She's got the most honours out of any of our current fleet. Having her escort you would have been a mark of respect.
-
I was under the impression that frigates were quite often smaller than aircraft carriers.

What on Earth are you gibbering on about? I mean that figuratively, because obviously you're mental. Us Brits don't consider anybody as fully human, including ourselves. If you have walked down Tottenham Court Road on the run-up to Christmas you'll understand what I mean. Animals.

UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
Kroney replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Since the conversation has drifted over towards post-colonialist attitudes, I'll briefly weigh in to say that Britain withdrew from certain countries too quickly and thoughtlessly. The utter cluster**** that is Africa is largely our fault, something that could easily have been avoided had we created sovereign nations along tribal borders instead of something similar to our old administrative areas. India, by and large, has a relatively positive attitude toward Britain. Partly because India always had relatively hands-off treatment, with significant areas being autonomous and ruled by local royalty. My general point, I suppose, is that a lot of countries suffered a power vacuum soon or immediately after independence due to political expediency on our part. The Empire was costing and we wanted rid. A slower withdrawal may well have resulted in a far more stable world. So yeah, we share some of the moral burden from being accessories, though it doesn't excuse the actions of men putting rifles in the hands of children and pointing them towards a rival tribe. -
Aye, it is. Is India crap at agriculture or something? Also, why was it England's fault, were they actively burning crops or not allowing people to grow stuff? From that sad barren picture in the link, maybe they held back irrigation technology? Just pointing out that it also includes famines in Indian governed areas. The second thing I shall point out is that neither home nor colonial rule can affect the weather for good or bad. Unless you're talking about Ireland of course, but that was well lol so no harm done.

As in the chap who lures children into his nightmare of a factory so that he can murder them in creatively individual ways?

They were both British. In fact, one of them was ginger. Thinking about it, that's probably why he was so cross. Still, sling out all the immigrants, as it's probably their fault. I'll get right on that, Kilroy. -
Do you dress in black a lot? Just curious.

Personally I think ****ing huge great wind turbines plugged into the Grid are a thoroughly cack-handed way of going about things. Photovoltaic cells and a couple of smaller turbines built into any large building so that they're self-sufficient seems like the best idea to me. Houses can easily be retrofitted with a few panels and a couple of sexy big nuke plants pn the Grid to cover the shortfall. What really needs to happen is for some balls to be grown and a "yeah well, this is going to get built so **** off complaining" attitude.

So I've been browsing around on the Beeb site and noticed this story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-25364699 I don't think there's anybody that seriously doesn't think renewable energy needs to be pursued, even if they don't happen to think climate change is a thing. Dwindling fossil resources surely make it a necessity. However, whenever companies attempt to put up turbines, which I believe are currently the only solution approaching cost-effectiveness, there's a chorus of howling from people that don't want to have to look at them. I realise that the reason that SP dropped the project was down to technological and environmental concerns over people whinging, but even so. How on Earth are people so self-centred that they'd rather have an uninterrupted view than have clean energy? This farm would have powered a million homes, yet there are people out there that don't consider that important enough to have a very slight inconvenience placed upon them. Are there any really viable alternatives to wind turbines? I'd be interested to know how the following would work, because the images that come to mind don't make any sense. "wind farm which is currently under construction in the Irish Sea with DONG Energy."

Oh is that out now? I won't see it in the theater but I suppose my usual "I saw the first one" means I'll see it when it's on PPV. I didn't like the first one much tho. It wasn't bad, exactly - just boring. Sometimes magic can't be done twice. The first Hobbit film suffered from poor pacing due to all of the shoe-horning of Silmarillion material in there to pad it out to a trilogy.

"This is likely to be pure fiction." Work of fiction in "not true" shocker! Those charlatans were getting paid to do that. Mind-boggling.
