  1. Sooo... any idea who worked on those portraits? They look pretty sweet to me.
  2. I hope it will be what Baldur's Gate 2 was for Baldur's Gate. Not only a big jump in popularity but a better game in general.
  3. AFAIK Obsidian did work on the issue on PC and they did some work on it for Tyranny as well, but the problem was so deep in Unity4 that they weren't able to fix it completely. I believe they were able to fix the issue on Deadfire though since it uses a newer version of Unity. Don't know if Paradox Arctic did any work on the loading issue on consoles. I know Obsidian didn't since they didn't really have anything to do with the console versions.
  4. It's kinda how it goes in game development though. Without knowing how much of the planning and design was his and not from other people working on the game it could have been quite awkward handing him the story and him alone. Knowing USA, some legal stuff could make it huge hassle. The timeline in his version sounds a bit odd. He says he stayed helping out to close up on some projects. There were no projects to close up around 2012 when Stormlands got cancelled. So either he stayed to finish up few pitches, in which case he might have been able to remain at Obsidian had one of those actually got picked up or his version just isn't exactly how it went down. Either way it's always somewhat sad to see someone's passion project not get made.
  5. Added you to the long list of developers Also added Tony Evans. His involvement was revealed by Josh in one of those recent interviews at Usgamer (if I recall correctly).
  6. Aye, I don't really miss Paradox as publisher either. Though I have to wonder why use a publisher at all unless it's just for shipping backer stuff around the world so people don't have to pay taxes for their products. Most of the marketing will be done with Fig anyways. Is Versus Evil big enough to manufacture boxed copies of the game to certain European markets? Or is there any reason to do so at all. Gog/Steam sales obviously beat the boxed sales copies...
  7. Also added Aaron Dubois as Senior VFX Artist since according to that Eurogamer studio tour all of Obsidian's VFX Artists work on Deadfire (among every other game they make at the studio). Not 100% sure about him though. He has some other games listed on Mobygames after 2015, but his LinkedIn still claims he works at Obsidian. Might have been one of people getting laid off after Armored Warfare since he worked on it.
  8. Dollarhyde* She is a junior narrative designer. Added her to the long list of devs.
  9. *bump* Zachary Spurlock got promoted from Animation Intern into a Junior Animator.
  10. They had one and it didn't really reveal anything.
  11. Started playing The Detail while I'm also finishing up with Project Highrise. Project Highrise is way too easy if you compare it to SimTower. It starts out quite nice, but after 4 hours you've pretty much seen everything. Don't think I want to buy the DLCs for it.
  12. Janky animations aside, the game is great if you are into good stories.
  13. Marketing for Tyranny. Paradox bought ad time on all of those sites for Tyranny and then flew in few journalists to talk about anything they want just as long as they publish those articles during Paradox's ad campaign.
  14. Finished Life Is Strange. I really really should have played this game a lot sooner. Such a uniquelly beautiful story and game with great characters. Hell, even the soundtrack was just beautifully done and this coming from a guy who pretty much listens to punk rock only. I'm getting old, aren't I? The game did leave me thinking for a long while. There's probably around 10 games that have actually managed to made me feel strongly about what happens on my screen.
  15. Aye. Same goes for those horribly huge maps with long streets that turn into a slaughter field against my operatives. Really enjoyed the game until I ran into those.
  16. They are milking Feargus dry of any juicy stories he has to share though! No more Feargus stories for few years at least! :D
  17. I figured it was more or less implicitly confirmed, but I also thought it wasn't the Cainarsky project and wasn't necessarily Obsidian helming it. If Obsidian is doing Vampire, doesn't that mean they have 5 games in the works? Seems like a lot. I guess Tyranny and Pillars' tech teams overlap. Tyranny DLC is probably almost done. Pathfinder is more or less done, and is just getting content support. So maybe they can handle Deadfire, Cainarsky, and Vampire... I'm speculating too much, I'll wait for it to come out in the wash. They have 4½ projects: Deadfire Pathfinder Card Game Project Indiana (Cainarsky game that is a new IP and uses UE4) Tyranny DLCs Something new that they are spinning up. Not known if the project has even been given a state name at this point.
  18. I lied. Didn't start Tyranny. instead playing Space Run Galaxy and Life is Strange. I really need to finish up some of these games before starting a new one... My Steam library is drowning in games I haven't had the time to play/finish.
  19. That's been the one of the really awesome things about the dev streams they've been doing. Stepping back to talk about the people that made the game, rather than just the game itself, really adds a lot of context into how things were made and why. And honestly, I'd rather hear the voice actors banter about goofy thing like proposing a Verse/Ebb road-trip game than watch someone just demo things on twitch. It's a lot of fun to see the developers just be themselves. Exactly this. Demoing a crpg on twitch really doesn't work for isometric games. It just looks dull and since you can't really give out much in fear of spoilers it's pointless as well. It works great for games like Cities:Skylines etc. though. So yeah, more devs just answering stuff and doing random banter.
  20. Aye, a great stream. It's nice to put faces to the voices in games.
  21. Raedric hold jeez I meant the Village under it. Sorry for confusion its some time since i played it. I meant The tree. What is so special about the village that people would get upset over it? It's not like they are hanging muslims, black women or people who made bad limerics. There's nothing to be upset about, or well at least not in SJW way.
  22. So at least this time you got the person resigning right. I don't think Obsidian will be scratching everything he wrote for the game and at this point of development, is there even much they will add to the game? it's nearing alpha/beta stage, so I don't think they will be doing massive amounts of writing for the game. Couldn't care less about SJW's or the equally retarded people who are strictly opposed to them and see them as the end of the world. The very idiotic fight about a limerick was enough and got blown out of proportion by both parties. It's not the 1950's when you could just talk **** about everyone and only your neighbour would know what an ***hat you are. When you post stuff online in a public forum for everyone to see and read, you will risk your livelyhood if you want to work in certain careers. Is it completely fair? Probably not, but then again most companies care about their public image enough to react if they find you posting rasistic, homophobic or otherwise hateful material online.
  23. It really varies a lot. I don't mind the protagonist being female, I can live with that. Though usually if there is romance involved in the game I'll pick male character (Dragon Age, Mass Effect for example). I'd rather look at a cute butt of a female if the game is 3rd person game and doesn't involve romances. My Tauren Druid was/is a male though, then again a cow is a cow. There's no way you can make that character cute at all Just don't shove playersexual npcs down my throat and I'm fine.
