Alien is the best series of all time. OF ALL TIME

Dragon Age 2
I want them to roll back to what they were before they started making BG, and then I want them to rethink their steps. And I'd like Obsidian to make Gamma World: Torment. What's the problem? I permanently shelved DA:O because after reinstalling the game after a HDD wipe I cannot get Shale anymore (nor any other free DLC, unlike with ME). It should be tied to the same account you have setup as your bioware social login. It just downloads with the in-game downloader.

KotOR MMO epic fail?
Thousands of hours of endless grind. The more populous group is in WoW specifically to avoid that.

Dragon Age 2
That sounds more reasonable if true. Need to see if the Signature Edition still exists after January 11.

Dragon Age 2
Is there any precedent for pre-order bonuses that are only for pre-orders over 2 months before release?

Fallout: New Vegas
PC = can't even get all the files to make it work yet Xbox = Guy at Gamestop lifts a fully working copy from the back room when his boss isn't looking.

KotOR MMO epic fail?
Actually it's in closed beta now. http://swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=109426 It's in closed testing. The TOR team is pretty insistent that it's not in beta yet.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
WoW has sold better than Mass Effect. Which sold better than Baldur's Gate. So it must be great.

Fallout: New Vegas
That perk list is making me rethink my Guns, Science, Survival character. Science and Guns aren't given any synergy. At all. So many Repair instead of Science, since I don't want to do Energy Weapons this time. Or maybe I'll go with my Science, Speech, Repair character. Repair is for after he gets tired of running away from everything and finally picks up a gun.

Dragon Age 2
How the heck did I miss that? I was thinking "so what, that's how they did it with Shale and Zaeed." But it's not, those were for new copies, not pre-orders. That is kind of scary.

Right, but that doesn't exactly contest my point at all. Indiana Jones was also not a particularly strong story. It's simply fun. There's an almost compulsive need among nerds to overjustify their enjoyment. To the point that they habitually make stuff up about it to make it seem more intellectual than it is. As art critics to art shows thus nerds to space opera and sci-fi.

Did you watch the same movies I did? The strength was in lasers. Eh, depends on the movies, on the original trilogy, story and characterization was awesome, on the new trilogy, it's all about the graphics ejaculating into your eyballs. What exactly was good about the story? It was your average evil empire one. It was well paced, well acted, and the characters were likeable, but none of that is "story." If it had been filmed today, people would have torn the plotholes a new one. "Wait, so they just let the strongest member of the Rebellion into the Emperor's chamber with the only bodyguard for the guy being that rebel's father? With both Vader and the Emperor making no secret of their intention to betray the other. Too dumb to live!"

I found it very insightful. I'm nominating it for an award in independent literature.

Fallout: New Vegas
So does anyone know if the game includes a blind old woman? How is the eyesight of Nightkins?

KotOR MMO epic fail?
Yes, but if it's a blimp showing up, you're going to presume that it's World War 2 Germany attacking. As opposed to any more modern threats.

Fallout: New Vegas
Be careful of the spokes. Anything in particular you're on the fence about?

Fallout: New Vegas
So, is Lily confirmed as a romance option? Maybe ED-E for girls.

I liked Orc. That's the one of the last four that is excepted from three of the last four. I thought Ghost was less than stellar. Part of it might be that

Dragon Age 2
[boo] Haw haw! [/boo] Seriously though, if the squad members from ME2 are more than short conversations and emails in ME3 I will be so (positively) surprised that I'll need years of therapy to recover. They'd never relegate them to e-mails. E-mail doesn't convey the family drama the series revolves around.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
How does one define properly challenging? Does it provide feedback on the challenges? Does it teach the requisite mechanics or is the player at the mercy of trial and error? The solution should at least attempt to be more apparent to the player than the glitches. If one is able to find the bosses blindspot via geometry exploits the player shouldn't even know about general play sooner than they can find his weakspot, then the game might not be overly informative that a weakspot even existed or was too punishing for the processes of finding it. Basically the difference between running QA tests and actually playing the game for enjoyment. When the former becomes an easier method, I think pause should be given I've known games that I can make this criticism of. Not saying Risen 2 is or will be one, as that's speculation beyond my comfort zone. But then again, I'm not the type to think game master and players are in a state of confrontation, either.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
If game difficulty gets to the point where I feel a need to resort to exploiting the unintended weaknesses in its behavior, then I see that as a failure in the design. Seriously, path of least resistance and all that. If the bugs are easier to find than the solution to battles, it can't be a good thing. And I can't imagine that's a good feeling for the designer, either. "welp, all my work in setting up a complex scenario and the players would rather glitch the boss on a rock than play it."
