I actually bought that a long time ago. Played it and promptly forgot everything about it. I don't consider that a recommendation.

I had completely dismissed the game until I found this out about two hours ago.

No need, just right click on game --> properies --> updates. The game will update when you launch it. Or does your experience say otherwise?

I find myself browsing their catalogue a little too much for a guy with his plate full, lately. Ooh, Another World. Ooh, Gabriel Knight. I never did play Icewind Dale. Dragonshard is free! I never paid them any serious attention until recently.

Is it sad that I know of Gnome Chompsky more than Noam Chomski? Because I totally didn't realize the second one was a real person.

I hear that being buried alive can be quite peaceful if you don't start panicking. But this kind of conflicts with other reports that suffocation can be painful. I don't really know anyone who has experienced it. However, since being burned alive is one of the two most painful ways to go, I'd say being buried is still a step up.

So who is going with a GoG.com pre-order? What free game are you getting? I'm aiming at Divine Divinity. Seems to be the best combination of recent/rating and I already have Gothic 2. I think the FAQ indicated that if we do the pre-sale tomorrow, we can claim the free game at that time.

You have to use offline mode, to my knowledge. There's a separate "do not keep this game up to date" option that's on a per game basis, but I believe that updates still kick in with launching the game. It only prevents updating at other times.

GOG Updates Privacy Policy, Will No Longer Use Geo-IP to Determine Your Region Basically, they're going to trust users to tell them their location. They won't do it by ip like everyone else.

That sounds more like realism than imbalance. Balance is overrated. The important part of FPS games is the roleplaying, I always felt. Make sure that you run away and die in character.

I'm being very ADHD with my Witcher run. I keep jumping into TF2 for a while or writing.

I think they just wanted to appeal the "Cerberus sucks, why was I working for them in the first place when I wanted to kill them" crowd. To which I belong.

Did you know that nickel salts are carcinogenic? And that iron can be poisonous?

Saw Thor too. Asgard was amazing. There needs to be another Thor film. It's the best magic as advanced technology anything I've ever seen. I always rolled my eyes at that stuff before, but they sold it. Saw it in 3D and I'll say the 3D added nothing to it. Black Heimdall is my favorite, now.

I'm going to need to see that study. I'm fine with subtle verbal recall errors. But I'm skeptical that they're looking at legitimate PTSD symptoms. I haven't looked it up in a while, but I was under the impression PTSD symptoms all occurred over a long period of time. Immediate symptoms are not PTSD anymore than getting sad is depression.

I knew it. A source with no connection to EA or Microsoft sees a PC shell in the EA offices. It's got to be the next Xbox! Or maybe it's a PC, you moron.

You poor thing. So victimized.

Introduce a challenge. Present that challenge again later with an additional element or elements. Repeat. It seems so simple. Its a chore. You're a chore.

No. It's heavily implied that she's a (former) Warden. Given what he says, the fact that she's a Warden, and the fact that we see another ghoulish character pledge to join him, the implications become somewhat obvious. Even without all those things... it's a ghoul hanging out with a Darkspawn. Seems somewhat normal.

While The Architect does appear in the books, Awakening actually felt better for me having not read them. He appears as a mysterious figure for a while. Then he explains who and what he is, and his motives. If I'd read the books, the suspense would have been lost and the reveal would have been redundant. Compared to WoW: Cataclysm where Thrall and Garrosh's changes are a big "what did I miss" moment.

I should get to playing Witcher. I haven't touched it since release and never got to experience the engine upgrades and new quests.

Naturally it's going to be supported by people looking to buy DLC. But it hurts those who either do not or don't buy the collected edition later on. That's where my concern lies. We'll just have to see how much it hurts them and whether or not it hurts them enough to impact future sales. I suspect it might not be significant negative impact, at least in this instance. I didn't hear much outcry against Revenge of the Sith's opening which was preceded by the season finale of Clone Wars season 2, so maybe it's not as bad as I think. But I'm still bitter about those comic book crossovers. And I have read complaints about Blizzard putting so much of their plot content in the tie-in novels without enough being in-game.
-
Why pretend these are the only two options? You said "outcome" so maybe I'm misunderstanding the question. I don't see either as an outcome as they both already happened.
-
Fair enough. My point was more that DLC having impact on the main story is a good thing, instead of being just a bunch of axed sidemissions finished and released later. Not that even that's necessarily a bad thing, *cough* bring down the sky *cough* And I disagree. I don't see it as a good thing. Sticking with just the major components should feel like a complete experience. Mass Effect 1 should lead to Mass Effect 2, which should lead to Mass Effect 3. Having to make miscellany sidetrips into DLC, comic book tie ins, novels, and the web original live action series just so you can understand why major changes happened to the main character between installments is going to leave people who don't follow the extras feeling frustrated. They're more likely to drop it since it stops making sense for what they follow. I thought the 90s comic book crossover obsession illustrated this rather well. "How did the X-men get to the moon between issues 128 and 129!? What do you mean it was in Cable #13? I hate Cable. F this!"

Fun? If the major plot arc is the only thing of value in an RPG, something has gone very wrong. In several places.
