What are you playing now? Part 3'ish
Finished KOTOR 2 with TSLRCM. What next? Choices are: 1) Darksiders 1 replay to prepare for Darksiders 2. 2) Transformers: War for Cybertron replay to prepare for Fall of Cybertron 3) The Book of Unwritten Tales because I just want a good adventure. 4) Some random RPG from my backlog 5) Neverwinter Nights because I hate fun.

I definitely think he's taking the wrong message from his own ideas. You could probably make a game around the concept of losing as an important part of learning. Not just using standard mechanics that allow you to lose but making it a focal element of the design to teach it. Games can be used to teach. And if you see something you genuinely believe to be a problem, take the opportunity to try and fix it.

Today's patch
Glad to see that's finally fixed. I recall seeing posts here about it.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS!
I'm always kind of curious when we only see a single sequence across multiple pieces of media. Is that the only segment they have working? I guess this might be the consequence of working on tradeshow builds. The demo area gets polished up enough to show off while everything else takes a backburner for the time.

Vista/7 but DirectX 9. I wonder if this is one of those "it'll run, but we don't officially support" kind of deals, then.

Sadly not. You're confusing two different things.

What you did today
I might be getting a raise at work soon. (by soon, I mean it might have started today, but that's not confirmed) It would have to start after I rack up a weekend of overtime.

I do like how the PC is a character with a rich and important history. And how the details are filled in by answering questions or narration. It brings you out of the moment, sure, but it's uncommon. PCs with important histories tend to go the amnesia route or making it a secret of their birth. Here, they just don't bloody tell you until it's important. But he definitely knows. Like I said, it brings you out of the moment to have such a significant separation of player and PC knowledge, but it's cool for the novelty.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS!
It was rushed. As I recall, it's the first time that team's ever had to deal with a deadline of only 11 months. It's hard to really point at anything else with that standing in the way. Hubris? Maybe, with more time, the plot problems would have been identified. Maybe the choices could have played into the endings better, instead of rushing you down 1 path. Maybe they could have finished more dungeon assets. Or maybe they would have wasted any extra time without a deadline looming so closely. I think the stuff they did well, we could have lived with if they hadn't buggered the rest. If the 11th hour wasn't a railroad of NPCs going insane and evil to force the plot in one direction. They could have reused dungeons, but been smarter about it instead of obviously pasted on covers on doorways that stick out. If the encounters had had a little more variety or interest beyond the spawn-in. Other niggles could have survived and been ignored. Like the plot actually being three mostly unrelated plots that the player is, for the most part, only witnessing instead of engaging with and shaping. Or the characters not being quite as interesting, though Varric was solid.

What are you playing now? Part 3'ish
Any dedicated Jedi will tear through them, just because of crowd control and ranged defense. I was using Kreia in my party with Insanity and it was a joke. But the second I was stuck with Atton (who wasn't Jedi long enough to really use CC), Mira, and T3, it was renewable droid shield spam while trying to get targets hung on corners. And then I made the mistake of using a Bao-Dur and HK-47 combo for Goto's ship, and saving over anything newer than 2 hours ago. "Okay guys, put on energy shields and beeline for where the PC is. We just have to live long enough to free him and we're golden."

I liked that Runaway 3 basically skips right past following up Runaway 2. Runaway 1 was a fun little adventure with the mob. Runaway 2 turns into some supernatural alien conspiracy. 3 will tell you what happened, but luckily, it goes back to focusing on ripping off mobsters again. Still on KOTOR 2 TSLRCM. Nar Shadda is criminally bad design. I don't want to hurt the feelings of whoever was responsible for it, but WTF man? Playing as Mira, Atton, or whoever you pick for the ship. If you don't have a jedi, it's a painful slog. The only way to survive is to play as cheap as humanly possible, hoping you stocked up on mines.

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Editions Announced
As far as I know, their license only covers BG1 and 2. So IF they can make a third one, it would be up to the license negotiations to cover the engine as well. I suspect that they'd want to use their updated version of Infinity engine as much as possible. Related, I have no hope that they'd be able to swing for AD&D. They'd probably have to use 4e or 5e.
