Anyone else finding the companion banter quite cheesy?
Tarlonniel replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Go for the jokes, Boo! Go for the jokes!

Recruit Eder Later
Tarlonniel replied to jintegrity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I not only had Edér show up at the start when he wasn't supposed to be there, I had him interject in conversations when he wasn't in the party. I know he's a fan favorite, Obsidian, but that's a little ridiculous.

Recruit Eder Later
Tarlonniel replied to jintegrity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I tried it and he simply disappeared from the beach after the conversation, so I'm guessing the answer is 'no.' But if you head directly to Port Maje and then to the inn, you should be able to remove him from your party before getting down to business.

Not bisexual, but gay characters?
Tarlonniel replied to Beyond The Sea's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)"'Twas a right fierce labor gettin' the lad to finger any flesh that weren't covering covering his spellybooks," is what she says. And he says, "I can see where I may have confused the poor fellow in my academy days." So it sounds like Iselmyr was pushing him on various people, he fought it, and poor Ymir ended up in the middle with no idea what was going on. And he was friends with Benessa because, as he says with some regret, he "realized there could be nothing between us." Y'know, since he was lying and spying on her and all. In any case, there's no reason to think Aloth's sexuality changes depending on the Watcher's gender. He likes guy Watchers and gal Watchers - if you can finally work him around to admitting it

Not bisexual, but gay characters?
Tarlonniel replied to Beyond The Sea's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Aloth mentions an attraction to the (female) animancer he was working with no matter the gender of the Watcher. And it seems he was not interested in the fellow at the Wild Mare; that was Iselmyr trying to stir things up (which is why he "confused the poor fellow").

Edit the endings of the quests (Dozens and Crucible Knights)? (spoilers)
No problem. Enjoy Deadfire!

Edit the endings of the quests (Dozens and Crucible Knights)? (spoilers)
The Deadfire editor does leave out a few choices and I don't know why. Fortunately, the impact those choices have on the game are very, very small; the Maneha and Iovara choices affect about one line each over the course of the game, and the "temper Abydon" choice doesn't have an affect at all, at least not that I could tell. The faction choice has a similar limited response - the game will acknowledge which faction you chose, but none of the variations within that choice. In other words, don't worry about it. You're not missing much. I'm a crazy person who replayed PoE about ten times to get perfect world states for import, and in the end, between the bugs and limited reactivity, it wasn't worth it.

Edit the endings of the quests (Dozens and Crucible Knights)? (spoilers)
I'm sorry, I don't think there's any way to do this. The current game editors for PoE focus on attributes and appearance and the like, not changing game state flags. The only way to get the endings you want would be to replay the game. But if you're looking for a perfect game to import into Deadfire, you don't need to worry about it - you can build your own background there exactly the way you want it.

What race did you pick for your first and second character?
Darn it, it's so hard to remember now. I think my first three characters went godlike - orlan - aumaua, because those were unique races compared to other fantasy settings and I wanted to check them out. Godlike had a super cool appearance and a mysterious background so I went there first. Then, after playing the game and seeing that orlans were heavily tied to the Eastern Reach, that's where I went next.

how to activate missing dialogues in poe1 ?
I don't have the game installed at the moment so I can't check, but I believe that's the dialogue in which Aloth finally chooses to either accept or supress Iselmyr. So yes, it's important. Unfortunately, there's no way I know of to activate it once you're past that point; maybe it'll come up again as you finish the endgame.

Is Aloth Nigh Impossible To Please?
Tarlonniel replied to Stardusk78's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Y'know, instead of going out of your way to get friendly with Aloth, you could just push him into hating you. There's some good content in the -1 and -2 disposition conversations.

How buggy is Deadfire compared to other RPGs you've played?
I don't play many games at launch either, but I've definitely run into some with more bugs than this one, and some with less. As long as I can finish the game with only a few broken sidequests here and there, the initial bugginess doesn't bother me.

Beast of Winter impressions
Tarlonniel replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I gotta admit, Rymrgand is remarkably forgiving. Rymie: Hey, why didn't I feel the dragon's soul enter my domain? Watcher: Dunno. Rymie: Fine. Hand over the relic so I can cleanse it. Watcher: No. Rymie: Pledge yourself in service to me! Watcher: Never. Rymie: I kill you! Watcher: Bring it on! Rymie: Cool. Bye now. Watcher: ... what the Hel... I think I like him. And now my wizard has a sweet phylactery collection going.

Beast of Winter impressions
Tarlonniel replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Except he did take a boat. That's how he ended up in the Deadfire Lying to get people to follow him wasn't so great, but if not for the dragon, his plan might've worked out rather well. In fact, in one scenario it does work out rather well (after the Watcher deals with said dragon). And considering that Ydwin seems, er, reluctant to reveal just how she got the means to leave the White, I don't think she has room to throw shade on the guy.

Light Beams in the DLC
Tarlonniel replied to Porcelyn's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I did the queries first, then the bridge, and I was very confused when the above option popped up. It took me a while to realize the dagger was giving me extra options.

Tarlonniel replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)You can offer Tekehu as a gift to the klng? That's an interesting addition. I'm definitely bringing him.

The Bridge Ablaze and "RPG veteran knowledge"
Tarlonniel replied to omgFIREBALLS's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I didn't notice the portal right away, but when I did, I went through it. What got me stuck was not stopping to loot the mobs who had the tower key. I didn't expect them to be carrying anything important and promptly forgot their existence once they were dead. I think I checked every other container in the area before appealing to the internet for help and finding the answer. Duh.

Beast of Winter impressions
Tarlonniel replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I finally got to play it and I agree that Vatnir is a great addition to the sidekick pool. There was lots of interesting lore about the White and running around the Fade - er, that is, the Beyond - solving the puzzles and talking to the folks there was pretty cool. Well, except Waidwen/Eothas, I mostly hated that bit. Ydwin had a lot to say, but she wasn't as interesting as I hoped she would be. Now I'm trying to decide who I should bring along on my next run. Does Tekehu speak up much during the Ukaizo section?
-
Josh:"The Watcher don't have particular reason to fight Eothas."
Tarlonniel replied to misterjimmy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Which could've been fixed by doing what many folks - including some in this thread - have suggested and making the destruction take place off-screen, perhaps even before the game begins. There could still be a piece of your soul in the statue that must be retrieved, which in turn necessitates the journey to Ukaizo, but there'd be no need for Berath's heavy-handed machinations and no expectation of stopping what's already been accomplished. It's unlikely the writers themselves didn't think of that option; for some reason, they must have rejected it.

Still Haven't Found Out What the Fortune Teller Was Talking About...
Tarlonniel replied to Wodehouse_44's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Obviously this is an obscure reference to the as-yet-unannounced fourth DLC, which will be co-sponsored by the Harlequin romance publishing company and Steven King. The first sentence has already been leaked: "The bard in red fled across the desert and the Watcher followed."

Overwhelmed by Act II!
If it's what your character would do, do it. I've never felt the need myself.

Overwhelmed by Act II!
My modus operandi is to go through the sewers to the temple of Woedica so Aloth's quest and the next stages of the main questline open up. Then I go to Dyrford, do all the quests there, return to Defiance Bay and do all the quests there. Once I've completed things up to the animancy hearings I go do Endless Paths and White March. But keep in mind I'm a Cheaty McCheaterson who doesn't worry about things like money and XP, cuz the console gives 'em to me

Aloth quest isn't starting
It will trigger after you visit Hasongo (or Ashen Maw, if you skip Hasongo).

Question regarding Eder and Pallegina's personalities...(spoilers)
Short answer: no. Long answer: Pallegina is 110% for the Republics no matter what. I didn't notice any changes in Eder either way, but save imports were borked for him for a long time.
