  1. But how would all of that work with a relationship system then? That's the other thing that separates a companion from a sidekick. I meant that he technically wouldn't be a companion, but companion-like for the DLC. He would be tied into the DLC story-wise and have interactions during the conversations, but he wouldn't be involved in the relationship system since that is a base game feature.
  2. At 1:00:13 Infinitron asks: "And he counts as a sidekick, right?" At ~1:00:30 Alex responds: "Yes, Infinitron, he does not have a companion quest, although he is central to the content of the DLC" A "full blown companion minus a companion quest" is a sidekick. Very early on in the stream, they indicate that he will chime in at some points in the base game, again, something that is completely consistent with sidekick. Maybe he is basically a companion during the DLC, but during the rest of the game he is a sidekick with little or no content.
  3. Honestly the difference is kinda artificial. An expansion that is downloaded is a DLC. It's just the bad taste left by early DLCs like horse armour that have left a bad taste with the name DLC, but I doubt anyone within the industry sees a difference beyond a PR one. I agree that an expansion is a DLC, but I classify it as a large DLC. Like $10 - $15 or more. There's a big difference in tiny $2 DLC and large $20 DLC. I know I've heard CD Projekt Red say in the past that they view DLC and expansions as different. I think they mainly said that because they are sick of other companies releasing dumb little $2 DLCs though.
  4. Nope, they've been very clear that this is a DLC. Not to be confused with the White March which was more in line with the tradtional sense of an expansion (of yorn). Actually, they've called them DLC and expansions in the past. You can still find on Obsidian's website where they call them expansions.
  5. Thank god there's no option for sword or sabre. The weapon type with the least uniques needs to win, and I'm a sword guy.
  6. I've never had the AI override my commands. You can setup the Frenzy with a condition to check for might or constitution inspiration. That should stop it from using it if you manually activate it.
  7. I did but for brevity's sake I sawed this post in half I'm also disappointed that you didn't mention replacing repair supplies with flex tape, glue, and seal. All the tools you need to fix anything.
  8. Oh weird! So the chance to hit is subtracted by the armor class? That seems so backward to my brain. Thank you for explanation! That was my reaction when I learned the rules of golf. Why does the winner have the lowest score? Isn't that backwards? LOL
  9. Hopefully there will be plenty more soul bounds in the DLCs. I still haven't found most of the uniques and soul bounds yet, but I'm liking the talking soul bound sword Modwyr. It has good stats/effects and hearing it laugh while slaughtering enemies is awesome.
  10. After playing around with the AI behavior editor for a while, I've been able to get my party to do most of what I want them to do own their own. I've actually needed the help of the mod on Nexus that gives more options though, like checking if a Cipher's focus is maxed. I actually have several suggestions to make the editor better but most of them are kinda petty or have already been mentioned in other threads in the past, so I will only mention what I consider a major suggestion here. There needs to be an option to continuously check the conditions while an ability or spell is being cast. For example, I've made Aloth cast Thrust of Tattered Veils on any enemy spellcaster who is currently casting a spell to interrupt them. It triggers perfectly but there is a major problem. If the enemy spellcaster finishes casting the spell before Aloth finishes his recovery time and casts Thrust of Tattered Veils, then there is no point in Aloth using this spell and it's wasted. However, if there is an option to continuously check the conditions, Aloth can keep evaluating while he is waiting to use it and cancel the action if the enemy finishes casting first. I also have this same problem with telling Eder to use Knock Down (or Mule Kick) on anyone using an ability or spell in melee range to interrupt them, although it's not as big a deal in this case since those are not as limited as spell casts. I have one other situation where this can be very helpful. I have everyone setup to use Second Wind when their health goes below 50%. I also have Xoti using healing spells on allies and my Paladin using Lay on Hands on allies. The problem is sometimes someone will receive healing from one person and then like a second later receive healing from someone else when they didn't need it. Again, if they could keep checking the conditions, they would realize that someone else healed that character. The character would now have more than 50% health and they could cancel the healing spell cast since the conditions are no longer met. There are plenty of other situations where this could be helpful but I've rambled long enough already. I just wanted to get across (helpfully to a developer) how useful this could be. I imagine this option could simply be a small toggle on each action like the Allow Break Engagement toggle.
  11. I experienced my first crash when trying to leave the map where you fight Meryel the Mad. I couldn't reproduce the crash. I've attached the crash folder that was created. 2018-06-21_174632.zip
  12. You would need to use an external source for view FPS. Fraps is very popular, or you can use the Steam or GOG overlay FPS counters.
  13. Funny, I always thought socialism was about giving everyone what he deserves for his hard work and making shure that nobody gets 1000 times more than what he deserves. But probably I'm just a communist traitor, who hates The Vailian Republics democracy freedom people in general. That's the way it's supposed to work but it doesn't. It's like welfare in America. If you keep giving people something for free, a lot of them eventually stop working and just take the free stuff instead. Why keep working when you can get about as much from the government, meanwhile those who do work are punished with supporting themselves and those other people. There's a balance to the world. You can't have light without darkness (and vice versa), and unfortunately you can't have rich without poor. Anyway, I hope nobody is really taking this too seriously. I was basically just making a joke. Except that 70% of people who receive public assistance have jobs. I know you didn't mean to start a serious debate, but WIC gave me a future so these talk radio myths kind of stick in my craw: if you've ever been unfortunate enough to have to accept food stamps or housing assistance (there is no such thing as a welfare check), you'll know that almost no one chooses it as their only means of subsistence in the way that you're describing. "Welfare" doesn't deter work, it saves underpaid working people from falling through the cracks into homelessness and crime (which cost the taxpayer far more than some free groceries does). This is the last I'll say on the subject because it's way off-topic. Also, socialism is only the public ownership of the means of production - it's communism that attempts to eliminate inequality through the redistribution of wealth Public assistance is a lot more than just welfare though. Growing up, I've seen whole families getting welfare without having a job and they didn't even look for a job because of it. I don't have a problem with people who actually need assistance getting it like disability or food stamps for poor people. However, too many people get it that don't need it. I know someone who makes about $50K - $60K per year and still gets food stamps. I just think some (if not all) governments hand out money like crazy and don't care. Also, I see tons of so called poor people walking around using $800 smart phones with $200 a month phone bill lol. Anyway, I agree with you. This is getting off-topic so I'll stop talking about this now.
  14. GOG can be a pain sometimes, but I'll still always choose it over Steam. I hate my games on steam being auto updated, especially if it's a game with mods that might get broken.

  16. Except in this case, something isn't being taken from someone who works and given to someone who doesn't.
  17. Mine just updated successfully. Need more feedback to get an idea if it's widespread or not though. Probably a stupid question, but are you sure you have enough space on your hard drive? And not just barely either, sometimes you need plenty of free space. Also, you mentioned security software. I'm guessing you tried disabling it while updating/installing, but you should if you didn't.
  18. I may be due to performance reasons, but I doubt it. I haven't try with Deadfire, but in PoE1 I've used the console command to remove the fog of war for the whole map and saw little to no performance loss. Also, does anyone know if this is something that can be modded? I'd bet it probably isn't, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
  19. https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire/updates/692 In their latest update on Fig, they mentioned that they are working on some tools for modding. I'm not sure how good its going to be, but it is something.
  20. I finally got the DLC to show up in GOG Galaxy where I was able to install it. I refreshed my account by following this link: https://www.gog.com/account/refresh I waited a while and then checked Galaxy again to find it listed along with the other DLCs.
  21. I can't count how many times this worked when someone came to me with a PC, tablet, or phone problem. Once I even fixed a remote not working for someone by putting batteries in it. With that being said, I'm also not able to download it with GOG Galaxy. It's not listed under DLC like the others. Restarting Galaxy didn't help and I also can't download it on my second PC. It's listed under Downloads on the GOG website but not in GOG Galaxy.
  22. It's probably just a placeholder date until the official release date is announced. I've seen several times before a game's release date being 12/31, only to change when the release date is finally announced.
  23. Go into your Nvidia Control Panel and make sure "Power Management Mode" is set to "Prefer Maximum Performance". I had FPS problems in POE1 until I made this change.
  24. I'm getting 50 - 60 FPS in ship battles with my i5 4690K and GTX 1070 at 1440P resolution on high settings. Got the same FPS both before and after the Nvidia driver update. Try checking your GPU clock rate while playing the game. I remember having an FPS issue on POE1 with my laptop where I was only getting 10 - 15 FPS and even though the GPU was showing 100% usage, the clock rate wasn't running full speed. I opened the Nvidia Control Panel and changed the settings to "Prefer Maximum Performance" and my FPS shot up to 40 - 45 FPS.
