How weird!! Thank you for the detailed report! I'll get this over to QA/Programming. -David -
What a second, there is no difficulty indicator fix?
David Benefield replied to Cylion's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
The difficulty indicators should be working now. If they're only working for enemies and not quests, then we need to look into that. -
Screen freeses during the first dialog line from the statue.
David Benefield replied to Cylion's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Thanks for letting us know Cylion. In your game was Edér there or not? (He may not be there based on Pillars I choices) Thanks, David -

Patch 1.1.0 Updates Thread
David Benefield replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Looks like you have to play through the intro at least once after installing the patch. I played through the intro once, and the button to skip appeared the next time I started a new game. (I'm fine with this, would be a good addition to the patch notes though.) Thanks! I had to hunt down a programmer, but you are correct. You either have to go through the intro once (post patch) or load a save. I'm adding that to the update list now. -

Hello Matt, I am sorry this is happening, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Could you send us your output log? That might help us identify the source of the issue. Output Log When the issue occurs, close the game client, find this file, then attach it to your post Steam Location: \Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity II\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\output_log.txt GOG Location: \GOG\Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\output_log.txt GOG Galaxy: \GalaxyClient\Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\output_log.txt OSX Location: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Ahh thank you Glurak! Xaratas, if you haven't already, I'd recommend reading this post from one of our Programmers: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97998-info-how-to-structure-mods/ I believe if you set up your mod to use the 'override' folder that will lead to less conflicts with patches and updates down the road Thanks for support that sweet mod, David

Hello Glurak and Xaratas, There should be German translations for all the alcohols and Mirke related DLC strings in the build you have. My QA team is also seeing the German translations. Could either of you give me some examples of which words are appearing in English instead of German so we can look into this more? Thanks, David

Post 1.0.2 Patch Beta FAQ
David Benefield replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Hello LadyError, We are aware of the issue and it is being investigated, but we do not yet have a fix for it yet. Once we do have something, we will be getting that onto some form of the beta as quickly as possible. I am sorry this fix is taking so long, -David -
I have the same problem on my Macbook - a black screen and unresponsive game after entering the pillar. I don't think the patch is ready yet, but it's in development and accessible if you bought the game through Steam or GoG (see instructions here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98360-beta-branch-access-steam-gog-galaxy/). It seems to work for some Mac users, but not me yet Does anyone know when it might be out? Hi Jah_Bless, If you purchased the game through the apple store, then you likely don't have the patch yet. We are currently waiting on Apple approval before the patch can bepushed live. We will be pushing it live just as soon as possible. -David

Post 1.0.2 Patch Beta FAQ
David Benefield replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Hey Matt, Sorry, I'm not up to date on the ins-and-outs of the Level Scaling system. I do know that it shouldn't require a new game to take effect, and that there is a limit to how far level scaling goes (Xaurips will not be a challenge after a certain level difference, and Dragons will not scale down to level 1 either). -
Post 1.0.2 Patch Beta FAQ
David Benefield replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
@renoturks, yes. When possible, we try to make fixes retro-active, but some of the bugs may require a new playthrough as the game. -
Hello all, Firstly I wanted to say thank you for all your help with the 1.0.2 Patch! We're very happy to have some of the biggest issues fixed (or at least improved) and out to all our players. I figured there might be a few repeat questions that come up while waiting for the next Patch Beta, I'll try to answer a few of them below: When is the next beta patch coming? It will be at least a week before we put any updates to the beta branch. Our team has been working on the next patch for quite a while. Some fixes/changes that required more testing were instead put into the next patch instead of the launch day patch or even 1.0.2. Since there are so many fixes, we really want our internal QA team to have some time to test the stability of the build before putting it on the Beta Branch. What happens if I stay on the Beta Branch (on Steam or GOG)? For now, the beta branch is exactly the same as the default branch. When we have an update ready for the Beta branch, if you are still opted in, you will automatically get the update. Naturally, if you'd like to opt out for now, and then opt in again later you are welcome to do just that. When are you fixing {Insert bug here}? Is it fixed in the next patch? We have a lot of fixes going into the next patch. Rather than try to answer the state of each one, we'll do our best to provide you all with an updated list of what's fixed in the next Beta Patch when it is available Let me know if you have any other questions, I (or one of the other mods) might update this post if we see the same question coming up frequently. Thanks again! David

Hello all, We're putting build 89 live on the GOG and Steam Betas now. Here are the updates (main post updated as well): These are the update notes for Beta Build 89 Major Fixes Player Dispositions should change less drastically for small decisions. Miscellaneous Custom AI settings should now save changes when adding new conditionals or abilities.

Beta Branch Access - Steam & GOG Galaxy
David Benefield posted a question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Patch Beta Testing Starting with our v1.2 patch, we will be making builds available early on the Beta Branches of Steam and GOG Galaxy. As we did with Pillars I, we were happy to be able to provide early access to our patches, while they were still being worked on and tested by our team. This means we can get critical fixes out to our players a bit faster, and also get your help in finding any edge cases where fixes result in new bugs, or a fix doesn't entirely resolve an issue. What are the Benefits? Players can get early access to some critical bug fixes. Developer's can get help from Players to ensure this patch is ready to go live to everyone. What are the limitations? These patches may be unstable. We are intentionally sending them to the beta branch before they have been fully tested, so big issues may occur. The branch may update frequently, or infrequently. We will make a post to the Patch Beta Bugs and Support sub-forum whenever we post an update, however we might do many updates to this branch leading up to a patch release. This can mean many downloads from the platform that can eat up bandwidth, and delay you from playing if you have to wait for the update. On GOG, we will only be running this beta for Windows and OSX users using GOG Galaxy. We do not have an efficient method of getting these betas out to Linux users through the GOG platform at this time. To everyone who decides to help test our Beta Branches, thank you. We are consistently astounded at the community and support for Pillars, and your input and time are a tremendous reason for the quality of what we've accomplished so far. Bug Reporting For bugs being reported from the beta branch, it is most helpful if you report the bugs within the Patch Beta Bugs and Support forum, so that we can tell them apart from the base game bugs. If the issue happens in both the base game and the beta, then please report it in the regular Technical Support forum. For more information on how to report bugs, please see this post. So, how do I get started? Please find the instructions below for for how to access the Beta branch for your platform: Steam To access the Beta branch on Steam, please follow these steps: 1) In your Steam Library Right click on Pillars of Eternity II, and select "Properties" 2) Select the "Beta" Tab, and click the Drop Down for labeled "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs", and instead select "Beta - Public Beta branch for upcoming patches" 3) Close the Window, and you should have a download ready. Attempting to play the game should automatically trigger the download. How to switch back on Steam: To switch back and opt out of all betas, simply repeat the Steps above, but select "None - Opt out of all Betas" from the drop down list in Step 3. GOG Galaxy To access the Beta Branch on GOG Galaxy, please follow these steps: 1) Proceed to the game card for your game in the GOG Galaxy client. 2) Proceed to the game's settings via the "More" option, and select "Settings" 3) Select "ON" from the drop down menu in the "Beta Channels" option on the right hand side. 4) A "Channel" option should now be visible. And in the Dropdown should be the option for "Beta" 5) After selecting this option, GOG Galaxy should automatically start your download of the beta branch. How to Switch back on GOG Galaxy: To switch back, simply repeat the steps above, but choose "default" in the Channel Drop down options. -
Backer Beta Update 1: Patch Notes
David Benefield replied to Sking's topic in Backer Beta Announcements
I believe it will not appear on the Mac list until you opt in to the beta channel on Galaxy. Please check out the instructions in the original post (https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/94318-welcome-to-the-deadfire-backer-beta/) for getting the channel added, then it should work on Mac. -David
