Edit: Okay, I read through the UPMod thread, and it seems like a total overhaul - that I may not want at this stage, since I do not even know the base game well. But is it possible to make a separate damage meter mod? Also, so what were the results? Did a Dragon Thrashed Chanter dominate the damage numbers as we expect?

Hmmm, this seems like a total overhaul. Is it possible for you to make a version that does not change anything but permits DoT and aura damage to be registered in the character sheet? -
Tracking kills and registering "direct" damage (which includes all DoTs and instances that do not go via attack resolution) are separate.Tbh that's was one of the reasons I've made UPMod in the first place, as I wanted to check how good Dragon Trashed and Shinning Beacons are in practice, and compare total damage done at the end of the playthrough. (my party is lvl 8 atm) Yup. I tested, and it doesn't seem to register Dragon Thrashed damage. But your "UPMod" does? Where can I download it? Is it the "unofficial patch mod" in your signature?

I ended up giving it to my Wizard (Gandalf), and it's kind of hilarious how much CC I have now with the Gyrd, Confusion, and a Cipher. I've actually seen 6-7 enemies (everyone except 1) show green circle. The problem with this much crowd control is that I am wasting DPS, and sometimes my formation gets scattered and let the enemy melees get to my ranged (once the CC wears off). Edit: Confusion is a seriously crazy spell. If I knew Wizard CC would be this good starting mid-levels, I might have not gotten a Cipher...

Ah, ok. Phew. I was terrified for a bit! Wow, if it works with Blast, then it seems close to no-brainer. I think basic attacks that have a chance to AoE debuff effects is a must for a lazy player like me! If the Ranger had Rogue-like crit rate, I'd even consider using him with Borresaine, given Twinned Arrow and Driving Flight!

I got my first soulbound item: Gyrd Háewanes Sténes! Yay! Now, whom do I give this to? The Priest or the Wizard? I suppose I can also give it to Cipher as well, but she's already got Borresaine. Also, how do you do "raw damage" with a Priest or a Wizard? Edit: Oops. The weapon says it does raw damage And Ciphers cannot bind it anyways

What did your ultimate line-up turn out to be? And what would you choose if you could build the whole party from scratch and not use in-game companions? My lazy team with pre-made companions is paladin (MC), Eder, Maneha, Kana, Palegina, Zahua which is very low maintenance and requires minimal resting. With only custom companions a party of 6 tank paladins is my ultimate lazy party. Many people would argue that 6 chanters are better because of their AoE dmg, but chanters are too vulnerable to cc and are very squishy (they have caster end/hp). Stacking 6 of anything is no fun though. What if there is a restriction of no more than 2 per class? 2 paladins, 2 monks, 1barb, 1 chanter I thought Monks were micro-intensive?

I am still confused as to what Holy Radiance does exactly. I thought it was a heal? If so, wouldn't you want to cast in the middle of the fight - not at the beginning? I believe if you look at the list of talents right above that statement by Boeroer you will see Inspiring Radiance which gives everyone in your party in range of holy radiance +10 accuracy so that is why you would start with Holy Radiance otherwise you wouldnt. Ah, ok; so the heal aspect is then wasted?

Number of engagements is kinda overrated. It was more useful during the vanilla times, owing to changes to enemy targeting patterns. If the enemy targeting pattern is default, it doesn't matter if the frontline can engage the enemy as the enemy will still be targeting the said character. If the enemy specifically target your backline, the enemy will break and eat engagement attacks to reach your backline. Either case will stil happen with even if your frontline has increased number of engagement slots. What is the default number of engagements of non-fighters without any talents? And is there a way to increase the number without getting +engagements gear? Also, isn't Shatterstar an excellent weapon at that stage of the game anyways? I am thinking of getting rid of my Whispers of Yewood in favor of it.

But chanters have low endurance and also low health. I guess your "dps" chanter has problems because of that. In the beginning, give him Veteran's Recovery, Ancient Memory and Beloved Spirits asap as well as survial up to 8 and choose healing bonus when camping. Add to this Fulvano's Amulet that you can find in the south of Magran's Fork (on a troll). This should give him nice endurance regeneration. For his health issues you will either have to engage later than sooner so that he doesn't draw too many enemies or give him potions of Infuse with Vital Essence or pick Wound Binding. After some more levels that problem will solve itself once his health pool is a bit bigger. Also put him in plate. The thing is that a chanter will never be a great dps-dealer with a melee weapon until he gets "The Champion braved the Horde alone". The "Last Unicorn" variant was more about aesthetics and also because The White Spire estoc has some nice ice-themed spell bindings and just looks so good with the White Crest armor (which also has nice spell bindings). Got it. I will give him Veteran's Recovery at next level up then. I already have Ancient Memory. Is Beloved Spirits an automatic level-up - or something I have to pick? I don't think I've seen it; but then I am only level 4. I put him in Eder's armor, because that has 1 per rest auto-revival. As for not being able to do a lot of DPS with weapons, another thing I noticed was that he swung so few times - half the number of hits as my Paladin. I assume he's not casting when he is using Invocations, but is there a delay involved even when using Chants? There seems to be a lot of weird things going on in my current playthrough that perplexes me. The Chanter has half the number of hits as the Paladin; and yet he's doing more damage, etc. Finally, are you supposed to have another shield tank when you use a Chanter main tank? So far I am doing okay with keeping stuff off of my squish back-line, but I am afraid I will be really tested with aggro once I run into the real AoE fights. I haven't done the Ogre woman yet, precisely because of this reason.

Then I don't get it. Armor is similar; Chanter has 6 more Dexterity, whereas Paladin has 7 more Perception. But again, twice more hits for the Paladin, and similar number of crits. Speaking of so few hits for the Chanter, that is another thing I don't understand. Do Chanters stop attacking when they sing? It doesn't look that way either.
