Is there a way to build micro-free nuking caster?
I am precisely the opposite: Full party, and I play combat as if I am watching a movie

Thanks but any description of the beta?

Devoted fighter. Is it worth it?
By the way, I wish Devoted gave slightly more - maybe an extra +5 Accuracy?

Some players are boring and don't change weapons so they won't suffer this penalty. They'll most likely select a weapon with 2 damage types making that +2 PEN bonus only +1 in practice. This sounds like me

P.S. Where can I find this beta?

Ah, ok; I missed it.

Is there a way to build micro-free nuking caster?
Hi, one character type I am having trouble building in terms of a script-reliant (or micro-management-free) is a nuke caster. I tried it with a pure Wizard, and it failed miserably in terms of efficiency. I think there are two main problems: First, since I am entirely reliant on scripts, I can only use either single target damage spells or foe-only AoE damage spells. But there aren't enough of those spells, so the Wizard basically had nothing but Minoletta's stuff, Ninagauth's Killing Bolt, and the lightning spells, as everything else was friendly-damage capable. So I just didn't have enough spells in a prolonged fight. Second, I don't think you can tell the script to use a different spell when the caster faces enemies with immunities - especially fire immunities. This makes elemental spells very problematic; and thus I would prefer raw damage spells or weapon-type damage spells. So I have to narrow the list of spells I can script even more. So is it even possible to build a script-reliant caster who can do comparable damage to other strong ranged DPS characters such as a Aamina's Legacy machine gun build with Ranger/Devoted or the various dual mortar builds? And if yes, what class combinations and list of spells would I be using?

Huh? Was there a new patch the last few days I missed?

What weapon should I devote myself to?
Are there any enemies that are immune to both slash and pierce? I have been disappointed with the overall damage of a Devoted Warhammer user - though the damage is consistent.

Is there a better Rogue weapon than Duskfall?
Ah, ok; then they are definitely worth it then.

Are the Shades allied with you? Or are they neutral? And if they are allied, then do you have to kill them after all the original enemies are dead? I don't know how on-kill summons work - whether with the Watcher's Blade or the Essence Interruptor bow.

Class tier list?
Cannot edit properly, ugh: nemesis205bw wrote: "Mid game: 2. Fighter once you get unbending Late game: 4. Devoted/streetfighter - unkillable and deals the most melee single target dps in the game. He is able to solo most area fights from dlc" I think you over-estimate the Fighter...

Well, if you are going dual swords, Modwyr has to be one among the pair. It's just a superior weapon all around than either - and it, too, has a speed buff.

****, why didn't I think of this? With Confounding Blind you can lower Deflection in a crazy fashion with all those multiple shots. But Frostseeker's AoE does not carry afflictions to non-primary targets, right?

[MECHANICS] Stats, weapons, and rules of thumb
bottom line is Perception > Might (but it's close). similarly, +1 acc > +3% damage (but it's close). (though this ranking breaks down at very high accuracies, though that is rare for much of potd) for martial classes, Dexterity > Perception or Might. For casters, it might be closer to Perception > Might > Dexterity depending on your build/playstyle (basically when you have a finite number of spells, getting the most out of each of your spells may be more important than simply emptying your spellbook faster) That's quite counter-intuitive? I thought the conventional thought has been that casters need Dexterity most because of the need to prevent being interrupted and thus cast fast.

[MECHANICS] Stats, weapons, and rules of thumb
So what's the bottom line? It seems like that the OP is saying that Perception, Might, and Dexterity are all roughly similar from a DPS perspective?

Anything that replaces Barring Death's Door?
The duration of the potion scales only with your alchemy skill and has 6s base duration - it will last 12s with 20 alchemy I think. The spell has 8s duration and scales both with intellect and PL. That is pretty terrible. So it's closer to Shieldbearer's Lay on Hand than BDD.

Some unconventional dual wield set-up questions
Thanks. Two more questions: 1. In a scenario where I am dual wielding melee/ranged weapons, what determines which weapon is the "primary" attacking weapon? The weapon that is on your right hand? Or is it determined by your distance to the enemy you are targeting (e.g. melee if melee range, and range if ranged range)? 2. From other threads I've read, dual wielding melee/ranged weapon is not so bad as a caster, because you do not have too many weapon-based full attacks. Correct?

Dual-wielding, full attacks, and recovery
I don't know how you tested it but it's not true at all. You have recovery with the scepter in the OH or reload if the pistol is in the OH. Don’t make assumptions, TEST it. He means scepter in mainhand and pistol in offhand. In this way since full attack abilities use offhand recovery time and firearm has no recovery only reload. You actually CAN spam full attacks without recover. Imo it is a bug and should be fixed. Wait, is this still not fixed?

unbalanced unique distribution (by weapon type)?
This thread deserves a bump.

Anything that replaces Barring Death's Door?
only major downside with that potion is without at least a modest alchemy skill (or salvation of time) the base duration barely lets you recover from using the potion much less do anything else :/ (less of a problem if you have party members to heal you while you recover or something) Ironic - so the potion that lets me go without a Priest works best with a Priest! How much Alchemy are we talking about here to make this thing work independent of a Priest?

Anything that replaces Barring Death's Door?
There's Potion of the Last Stand which is actually a better effect than Barring Death's Door (also gives you concentration and +25% damage buff), but has a shorter base duration (though with theoretically much better scaling than BDD). Nemnok's Cloak also triggers BDD at near death. Really? I never noticed the Last Stand potion; let me look it up. (Can't look up in-game since no saved games.) I know about Nemnok's Cloak; but it's only one copy! Damn, I wish we had the Helwax mold again - and other really high-powered crafting materials.

"Must" Cipher spells for a ranged or support/mid-line multi-class?
It's fairer that way. Well, I am still a bit on the fence with the utility of the Charm and Dominate spells for the Cipher. Will a Cipher who won't run them be a drag and not a good character? Can't I just sit back and pew-pew with an arquebus and hurl debuff and nuke spells?
