  1. I've done choices where I've saved the crate and the crewman, however in one playthrough when I went into the cove to save the one guy who'd still be alive, regardless of my choice, he is instead dead. I recently did a test and ran as quickly as I could to him again, and he was still surrounded by traps, but two of the skeleton guys had moved and started attacking him, and he doesn't defend himself. I ended up saving him in that run. Not too sure if it's a bug or not (he just stands there as they hit him). If it's not a bug, then I guess...this becomes a tip?
  2. You get a penalty/bonus to a stat that boosts *all* of your defenses. So if you play as a 'nice' Bleak Walker you basically will get almost nil of that. Played as a Dracozzi, but like Stoic as much as clever, and there are *alot* more options to be clever than Stoic, but it still looked like it just ended up balancing out. Unsure if it affects anything else.
  3. Same issue here. At first I thought it only crashed to desktop when choosing to launch the ship, but I've had one CTD just randomly as I left the Nekataka palace.
  4. Nah, this isn't BG2. Feel free to swap chars. out. I just wouldn't suggest doing whatever zone they focus on is all. Last I checked romance was hearsay. Someone on reddit claimed just about all the new chars. were romanceable except for the returning chars. But there's been conflicting statements on that, so who knows.
  5. Click empower button, and either select ability/spell, or char. portrait to refund some spells/abilities. One use per encounter, only replenished by resting.
  6. The cloak of Berath has the same line from the scavenger hunt. The gold ring has the basic 'this is what a ring is' description. Except for the pets, who give unique passives, all of the items are vanity items (the first cheapest upgrade to sails is the same as the Sails of Berath for instance).
  7. I agree that healing is better in PoE 2 than it was in 1, at late game healing was a bit of a joke. It was more delaying the inevitable. In PoE 2 heals seem to...Heal. Just depends on your playstyle. Personally I'm glad that system of double health is gone, because even if I made it out of a fight, low remaining endurance pretty much forced me to rest. Now I rest to restore empower/heal wounds/gain buffs. In a game where time matters more due to crew constantly draining food/funds I find it fair. The first island is easy if you know what you're doing. But I also ran into an ambush on another that wrecked me a few times as well.
  8. Yeah. You use it, click on a bad guy, and one hit burst into flames sorta deal. There's an evolved version that gives your party members a buff, but it still needs to be used on an enemy.
  9. I turned it off, I...Think it helped? They aren't as frequent at least I believe. Still around enough to be annoying.
  10. Nope, she's fou She's found on the first beach when you're collecting your crew after the crash. If you import your save from PoE 1 she will not appear. She only shows up if you create a backstory (I'm sure some of the Obsidian made ones have her too, but I'm not going to check all of them).
  11. Eder: Pure fighter. Same as PoE 1 he's my tank. Actually now he HITS things for a decent amount of damage, so he's even better now. Xoti: Multi'd her. Makes her a decent melee fighter/buff bot. You can switch to a pure class for either one if you wish, depending on needs (although her unique Monk class is kinda bad) Aloth: I went pure wizard for rank 9 spells and I wanted someone at range. Serafen: Not sure. I haven't fought too much with his multi class build, but it seems you just need to focus on using the beserk side for buffs and the cipher for moves. Keep him at range and make things explode. Same choice with Xoti if you want to focus on barbarian or cipher; do you want a ranged char, or a melee one in your party. Takehu: I'd prefer pure druid for unique archtype and focusing on druid spells (since druid spellcasters are the best). If you want he can become more of a buff bot with druid/chanter. Forgot what the other class was. Pallegina: I keep her as a pure paladin for the late game skills. Paladin/fighter makes her beefier on the front lines and paladin/chanter makes her more support. Maia: Not sure. I was never a fan of Sagani, a pure ranger, because I can just use a Cipher. Maybe one of her multi builds makes it better. These are personal preferences mind. Depending on what your PC is, feel free to change it around.
  12. I always sorta thought wizards were weak. So far PoE 2 hasn't changed my mind, now that they can't edit their spellbooks. I'mma just gonna stick with a druid like in PoE 1 for 90% of the game.
  13. I really wanted my mindstalker to work on my first go around. But it's *way* too squishy. You have no real defense or responses on those big hits besides warping away and switching to ranged. I switched to a Holy Slayer? Holy Avenger? (Paladin/Rogue) build and was *much* more satisfied with both the damage of my chars output and his survivability.
  14. From one interview JSawyer mentioned you aren't missing too much by not importing. He said he doesn't like folks missing out on content like that. With this and the fact that Eder doesn't have the proper choice either I went ahead and did the same.
  15. Being a 'Champion', as far as I've understood it, just means you are working for/with that particular god for X purpose. At the end of PoE 1, you can technically be a Champion of Galawain, Hylea, Berath, and Rymgrand. If you do the 'Berath' storyline before facing Raedric, and when he proclaims to be such a Champion, you can retort that you are the same. He's startled, and it's almost like he regains a bit of honor before the fight starts. *double checks to see if this is the spoiler thread* So yeah, even though your faith belongs to X, seeing as how Berath stops you from dying to do their/her/his bidding, you can be called the Champion of Berath in this instance. And still draw your power and faith from another god/goddess.
  16. Think this is the wrong section for this, but... Pallegina, so long as she lived, will join your party. It will just either be, depending on her ending, as a Kind Wayfarer or as her unique order from PoE 1.
  17. Learned the hard way. First build was a rogue/cipher, which I was very *squee!* about, but it was just...so....squishy. In beta I tried a rogue/barb, but I just didn't have a whole lot of fun with. I've never really seen my PC's as playing as a paladin, but this rogue/paladin has enough meat on it to keep my PC in the fight longer, which is really nice. I'm just glad I didn't have to resort to making a fighter/rogue (no offense to others). Last time I built something like that was BG2. The VERY first time I played that game.
  18. Well, glad I'm not the only one having this issue. Thanks for others for investigating the issue. It's pretty annoying to go through right now, with the game freezing ever minute or so.
  19. Basically just topic. I've never really thought of a beserker/cipher build, especially a ranged one. My experience with barbs is that they are mostly melee characters. Does anyone here think he'd be a good build with barb/cipher? I sorta wanted Ydwin to be my pure Cipher, so I was afraid to make him the same. Anyone have any pointers or just skills to point out with him?
  20. Just a thought, I was thinking of this while making my own character, but a rogue/goldpact would be pretty useful as well. For when you find yourself 1v1 and proc some extra protection. Not to mention upgraded Gilded Enmity would refund, so your rogue can just cleave through enemies and keep that protection up and running. I ended up going with Dracozzi instead because my dispositions lean more towards that (although I wish stoic wasn't one of the 'no no's' for them). Just thought I'd put my two cents in there.
  21. No idea. Maybe the difference decides whether the dwarf in the cave lives. I thought choosing to save the crewmate would mean I'd start off with more folks, buuut...it didn't. =.=
  22. Some minor items. I'm not sure if they are dependant on what class you are, but mine mostly just had gloves. Another question I'd like answered is if you save the guy in the intro, does the dwarf (think he was your boatswain? Quartermaster?) die instead? I was hoping saving him instead of the loot meant I'd get an extra sailor.
  23. I'm almost positive it's still the same as in PoE 1. They aren't going to make a model for every version of bracers/boots imaginable.
  24. For most things, yes. Obviously, like a regular Cipher, enemies who are immune to your debuffs are an issue. But a lot of the spells have become quick casts. Also, starting a fight by sneaking up to an enemy and using puppetmaster? Pretty good opening move.
  25. Play as an assassin? Believe that bumps it up closer to PoE 1 version of a rogue. JSawyer has said that while yes, single classed rogues feel underpowered, they are one of the bests to multiclass with. For damage output you can do a Mindstalker (Rogue/Cipher). Soul whip will stack with sneak attack. I mained a rogue in PoE 1 and enjoyed it, and am probably going to play one in this game as well. Just multiclassed is all. Plenty of builds with it. I don't think you'll get too much love for rogues on these forums, they seem like the black sheep of classes here for some reason.
