  1. I just finished MGS4 for the first time. I had fun, it got more of a kicking than it deserved.
  2. Total Warhammer has been confirmed for years guys. It is a real thing, it is happening and hopefully they've had enough time that it will be good to boot.

  4. Thats interesting, I was always under the impression that death was inevitable in Project Zomboid. But it seems like you have found a way of long term survival ? It's called "being a badass with an axe" and it's pretty effective in various sub-genres of horror games, movies and television.
  5. I'm going to pull back the curtain and slightly spoil the game, but not the story, for you. Despite the way the game does everything to create this sense of scarce, dwindling resources, the designers never let you completely screw yourself. There is always a cashe of ammo and filters somewhere near each checkpoint within breathing distance. You just have to find it, though please note they will not always be easy to get to but it's possible even with a knife. So in the sections where the path isn't obvious be a bit more methodical, you actually can afford to be.
  6. Out of interest, what is it that makes ME1 so replayable wheras DA:I is not? They seem like similar games on a lot of levels to me.

  10. I tried the original recently and found the interface too tedious to put up with. Jagged Alliance 2 is a very strong contender for best turn-based strategy game of all time though and has aged very well.
  11. You know if they'd just cut to credits on the original ending at the point where Shepard and Anderson are looking out at earth, people would have still said the ending sucked and their choices didn't matter ect. but I bet there wouldn't have been nearly as much ruckus.

  13. There have actualy been quite a few brilliant warhammer and 40k games. Chaos Gate was one of them, the Space Hulk videogames from the 90's, Space Crusade, both Dawn of Wars and their expansions, Ultramarine, even the latest Space Hulk from Full Control.
  14. So what did you guys make of the Hawke questline? I imagine if Alastair stayed a warden then that quest becomes a lot more interesting even if the content doesn't really change. It was definately one of my favourite bits in the game though, I just wish it had been longer.
  15. In the early days of this board when the devs posted Fergus did say something about approaching GW about doing a Warhammer or 40k game. It was probably shot down, which is a shame because I agree both are interesting settings for a story-heavy rpg.
  16. There is a vendor in skyhold on the way to the stable that lets you buy experience for the inquisition, in case you wanted to get some more of the useful perks and their prerequisites.

That comes from the books or comics I think, Colonial Marine weapons were supposed to be more powerful than modern weapons were in the 80's, and the alien exoskeleton was according to some books/comics extreamly tough, though in others some guy clobbers an alien to death with a lead pipe so there wasn't even a consensus within that perticular medium.
  18. Some builds work better against certain enemies. I find 3+ terrors more difficult than most anything else because of the potential constant knockdowns, it's totally doable but requires different tactics to everything else in my case. That said, have you tried controlling party members you don't normally for this battle? A sword and shield tank won't use shieldwall very well on his own but you can make sure to constantly taunt and block a tough enemy like a rage demon while the others kill it or take out the other weaker demons first, and if you haven't played as a warrior you might be surprised how much more useful the knockdown attacks actually are when you're using them personally. As a mage you're going to be much more effective with barriers, crowd control and group attacks that don't wipe out your own party and as mentioned, if you dispel the second wave rift enemies before they've teleported in then you never have to fight them. Sorry if that's obvious but I didn't really deviate from direct control of my mage much until late in the game and I was surprised at how much of a difference it made over the tactical cam. If it's something you haven't tried yet it opens up a wide range of stratergies to you. Did you know shieldwall will deflect a dragon's fireball? That would have been so useful for me to know before the second to last dragon.
  19. Human Revolution was a soft reboot, it makes significant changes to the canon of the original game while also referencing it in such a way that it's an extra story layer for those who played the original because they can infer what might happen next by comparing the two.
  20. Lower the difficulty to casual and run past any mob you don't have to fight. Also, if you're only interested in the story then skip the open world stuff entirely, none of it has any baring on the important plots at all, even in the epilogue slides. Each area is almost entirely self-contained. I think the idea may have been that you could do multiple playthroughs and have a freash and unique experience each time. I wish I had known that beforehand, but don't get me wrong I really enjoyed the game from start to finish, but I think I missed out by being largely overlevelled and equipped the whole way through. That's probably why most people go through the game on autopilot, I noticed starting a new playthrough that the game felt a lot more tactical knowing how everything worked but having to make do with scraps.

This is just a hunch but I believe in hindsight it would have worked out better to let players drop into the single player campaign but not give them permission to initiate or participate in conversations, or some safeguard to stop them screwing with the host's story. The combat would have been a lot more fun since the single player encounters were just more entertaining than the multiplayer mobs, more varied composition, scenarios and terrain; and the open world areas would have been pretty well suited since that stuff is largely separate from the important story content. Most appealingly, who wouldn't like three minions gathering crafting resources for them? Or maybe just have a multiplayer mode with open world environments, even recycled ones and a few story quests like SWTOR's operations and flashpoints thrown in. I know that's all too much work to be practical but it's nice to imagine.
  22. Thats interesting, I'll keep that in mind You said you were waiting for a patch didn't you? There have been a couple already and it seems reasonably stable now, there are a couple of things like a few collectables not showing up or conversations very occasionally not working properly without revisiting an area but for the most part the game is ready to be played.

  24. I've been playing Dragon Age Inquisition for over 100 hours now and there are still at least 3 entire areas I haven't been to yet and I think about half the main quest path still to do. This game is taking over my life.
