  2. Care to read my post again? More specifically the (the PC WILL be the focus of DA) part. I wasn't contradicting that. I was just saying that the post you originally answered didn't ask if the GAME would revolve around the PC, but if the universe would and then continued saying that he was tired of being the Chosen One. So you answered the wrong question, because there won't be a chosen one in any way shape or form.
  3. Acyually, you're wrong. Though not really (the PC WILL be the focus of DA), only in the context of answering that specific statement. The gameworld will not revolve around the PC, the designers (and by that I am mostly referring to David Gaider) has repeatedly stated that there will be no prophecies or chosen ones anywhere near Dragon Age.
  4. Odds are there is going to be at least one kooky NPC. After all, Gaider has said one of his favorite characters (that he has written) is Deekin. As for the screenshots that have been shown, I am under the impression that they are merely a tech demo using mostly (or completely) NWN technology to show what Bio have intended. The actual game will use a completely new engine so it could look very different. But if Bio can deliver everything they promise it's going to be a very good game.
  5. Although they did last a few years after Torment was released. Enough to release IWD 1 and 2 for instance. So I don't really think you can blame them being shut down for not adding anything to Torment after the patch. Though there are pleny of other, valid, reasons why they didn't (and why that was the right thing to do).
  6. So the question that needs to be asked. Is Jade Empire worth getting an X-box for?
  7. Considering that there is no inventory, how can they have failed with it? I personally think it sounds like a great choice, not every RPG needs to be about micromanaging equipment.
  8. Now, that was a sobering review. I've read a bunch of them (everyone I could find) and this is the first one that got me to doubt if I actually want to play the game. Not even the Gamespot one had that effect.
  9. It seems to me the Gamespot reviewer was simply expecting another game than what he got. He kept comparing it to KotOR and while it's a reasonable comparison since they are from the same company, it was pretty obvious to anyone who even foolowed JE development just a little that the two wouldn't be that similar. At least not in gameplay.
  10. Not necessarilly, which has been proven by the KotORs and Vampire Bloodlines. All I am saying is the one thing detractors of Torment complain the most about is the overabundance of text in the game. I didn't mind, but a lot of people did (unfortunately).
  11. Unless you mind reading a lot in a computer game, the answer is definitely yes.
  12. Higher resolution doesn't always mean better graphics though. I've never felt that FO needed that. I don't particularly feel that the graphics are that bad either, but I do realize that playing a game in 256 colors can put a lot of people off, especially if the first RPG they played was KotOR. Then again, I guess higher res won't hurt either.
  13. Yeah, it does. And so does The Bard's Tale. That engine's been through a lot of games.
  14. Vampire: http://www.vampirebloodlines.com/ Fallouts is trickier. Interplay no longer maintain the official sites, but I'd recommend www.nma-fallout.com, one of the larger fansites for the game. The fallouts are a bit old though, so they're not exactly up to pair in terms of graphical quality (if that's an issue). But they are good enough that you should take a look for yourself.
  15. There are no goblins or elves in Planescape Torment. It IS a Fantasy-setting but a very, very different one. So different that a lot of people that like traditional tolkienesque fantasy disliked it because it was too "out there". It deserves being played, although there is a lot of text in it to read. Though that is true of all RPGs before KotOR, but Planescape is probably the wordiest of them all. So if you don't like reading you won't like it (or maybe you will anyway because the writing is THAT good). The Fallouts are also great, but if you don't like buggy games do not under any circumstances play FO2 unpatched. For me it was much worse than Vampire Bloodlines in regards to bugs before the patch arrived. After the patch though it was all good. I also liked Vampire a lot and really didn't find it to be that buggy. It does perform poorly on many systems though, but if you have a high-end rigg it should run fine and the patch takes care of the showstopping bugs.
  16. I never said I didn't like Lionheart. In fact, I definitely enjoyed it, even the second part of it (although not as much as the first half). I still feel Lionheart was a game filled with great ideas, but terrible execution. That being said, when going by what was said in the original post it's obvious that it's not the type of game he wants. And that's all I ever said
  17. If you want lots of dialogue, stay away from TES. They may have their high points, but dialogue is not it. I hear this will change in Oblivion though, but that may not even get released this year, so only time will tell. If you enjoyed the original pirates, you'll probably like the new one. It's exactly the same game, only with better graphics. And (I guess) better sounds. Maybe an additional mini-game, but it's basically all the same.
  18. Most likely. From what I've heard the game runs fine if you have a high-end system. I, however, do not have such a system and for me it ran pretty crappy, at least in the hubs. In other areas it ran good enough (unless there were zombies involved, those areas kinda sucked to). Load times were atrocious. Like trying to load a saved game in FO2 unpatched bad. Or even worse (it's been a while). As for being buggy, I only noticed two real bugs (excluding performance issues) and both were fixed in the patch. One was a mere nuisance (not getting money-reward from a quest) and the other was a real game-stopper. Fortunately it could be worked around through the console.
  19. Story driven with heavy dialogue. If it was only story-driven I could definitely see IWD. But yeah, it definitely isn't the type of game the original poster wanted. Nor is Lionheart and probably not Divine Divinity either (haven't played that though). Bloodlines definitely is though, at least for 3/4 of the game. The last part, however, definitely isn't (which is a shame).
  20. Both Fallouts and Planescape Torment would definitely fall into that category. I can also recommend Both Baldur's Gate and their expansions. Combat is more important in those games compared to FO and PST, but it's on pair (more or less) with KotOR, so it should be fine. I'd also recommend Arcanum, but it comes with a few caveats. It takes some getting use to in regards to interface and character creation (there are SO many options to consider) and even then combat is just bad all the way through. But with that said, it is very immersive and has a good story. And a unique and well developed setting. But if you're only going to play one in the above list, Torment would be it. A lot of people have said that KotOR had lots of elements in common with Torment and I am inclined to agree with that. Only Torment is a little less streamlined (imo).
  21. Fairly recent, but The Alchemiss' fall in Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich was kinda cool. I usually hate plotlines that involve characters turning on me, but in that game it didn't feel as out of place.
  22. There was a person in one of the wilderness areas that was from the "faboulus city of Neverwinter". He mentioned that something was going on there, or was about to. I don't remember the details.

  24. For me, darker definitely doesn't equal better. And as such, that isn't why I think Torment had a better story than the Baldur's Gate series. Torment's story is better because it's smarter, more well written, less cliche and connected with me on a whole other level. In some places it made me furious, in some it actually made me cry.
