What I find funny is when people claim that a game sounds so much better in a language they don't understand. Of course it sounds better, because you can't tell if the actor is doing a good or bad job. As for remakes, I'm more likely to take the positive stance that Aristes has, that those involved with the remake enjoyed the story so much they want to retell it, rather than negatively assume it's seen as an easy way to make money. Neither is really more or less likely. I also think labeling remakes as pointless to be pretty ridiculous. If an American remake of a Japanese horror movie is pointless, then what's the original? High art? Is it pointless for a parent to tell their kids a bedtime story that was first told to them by their own parents when they were a child?

Yes, but all that's known at this point is that Kojima won't be involved. There is also this, which some think will be an Xbox port of MGS4, others think it'll be a new AC!D.

Is going out of your way to find native speakers really worth it, given that folks tend to criticize based on how they think someone is supposed to sound like, not what people of particular regions actually sound like?

It's an automatic quicksave and quickload system. Apparently if the princess saves you in a fight the enemies health will be restored. I suppose if you see replaying areas because you haven't saved for a while or the checkpoint was far away as some kind of challenge then this might be a problem, but for normal people it won't be.

Last I heard their next project was going to be an original IP, more rpg/less action. That was some time ago though. So things may have changed. Apparently they are working on 3 projects, so that might be console RPG, The Witcher 2 and a new IP.

Much like the Gothic games, playing The Wither on PC it was obvious how well suited to console it would be. As for bugs, CD Projekt has been doin' The Witcher for so long now I'd hope they've ironed things out now. I actually rather intrigued by this. Will it feature all the content of the original and expanded edition, or is it more of a spin-off? By new engine do they mean "we've changed so much it's practically a new engine" or are they porting assets to something built from scratch, or perhaps an engine that has proven itself on consoles?

^ So do you expect to know twice as much as you do now in another 17 years, or at the ripe old age of 37 do you know everything about everything and the beliefs you have now are the correct ones and won't change for the rest of your life? If you see the nonsense a 20 year old posts as proof there is a "strong correlation between youth and inferior understanding of politics and the world in general", does a 20 year old seeing your posts as nonsense prove the opposite is true? All this age stuff is rather silly. One is just as likely to be bitter and twisted as they are to wise and experienced.

While I'm sure genetics has played a huge part in the discrimination people have faced throughout history based on their "race", I'm not sure what you're getting at. "Race" clearly means something in our society. We should just ignore this and make up our own definitions? If English isn't your native language and you've never encountered the term before then I apologize. The example you gave is certainly discrimination, but asking if it's racial discrimination seems a tad ridiculous.

It's also true. Swimming is useless. Though I must confess, it didn't actually inspire awe. But it did make me smile.

The MGS series is one of my favourite ever, and I love MGS4, but I stand by my comment that I can't really see anyone who is not already a fan getting much out of this. You'll be missing out on the story if you skip the cutscenes, but you'll also be missing out on a hell of a lot if you haven't played the other three games. I never had a problem with the cutscenes, but many in MGS4 did have my wanting a fast forward button. Though it makes cutscenes in other games seem pretty crappy in comparison. And the combination of seriousness and craziness is all part of its charm. It's time to change the disc Snake. What? Oh that's right, we're on Blu-Ray now.

Bethesda said some time back that F3 DLC would be more along the lines of the Knight of the Nine pack for Oblivion, so I dunno what Gorgon is rambling on about new armor for.
