  1. It is a little ugly to the eye. The hull doesn't curve naturally from stem to stern, as if they took the hull and stretched it out in the middle. Plus there's almost no vertical curve to the hull. One almost expects it to handle like a barge. A clinker-built look would probably be more interesting, as would exposing the inner frame along the deck sides. Some of the artists are visiting the tall sailing ship Star of India next month. While it's a fine example of an oceanic sailing ship, it's a few centuries past the era that Obsidian is going for. I know they are limited in how much time they can spend studying actual period ships, but they should study multiple types. For all we know, they could very well be aware of the criticism, hence the reason for the trip.
  2. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3807509&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=206#post473698665 I do that in Tyranny when the traps are rather close to the enemy. Though I believe enemies can also trigger traps in PoE1, there just isn't a whole lot of opportunity to actually make them do so.
  3. Pretty sure we are getting the chance to upgrade the ships, yeah. One of the Fig updates says that there will be other ships that we can obtain via various ways, from Rautautai carracks to Vailian galleons, among others.
  4. I think you're looking for the PoE2 suggestions thread? Anyways, while it was specific to Pallegina in PoE1, the presence of the Vailian trading company in PoE2 could allow for the possibility of that for a player chooseable order. Though Obsidian is going to have to retcon the fact that women aren't allowed to join that one, otherwise players either won't be able to choose female characters for that order or they'll have to otherwise explain it.
  5. Looks like something you'd wear in the desert, or maybe cold/arid regions. Wouldn't look out of place on Tatoonie, so, I'm gonna go with desert wear. Also, somewhat prominent boobs, I think. As a guy, I'm in no position to say whether that's truly realistic or not. Of course though, you wouldn't be able to tell very well.
  6. Almost zero loading times between scene changes would be awesome. Also, Tyranny's loading times got worse with the new patch and DLC. I know it has nothing to do with PoE2, just venting a bit.
  7. In the vids? I don't think those were live gameplays.
  8. Think Orlan... You didn't say Orlan, and it could have been Aumaua.
  9. Hmn. Does this mean food replaces camping supplies and he's worried people will rest-spam? Rest spam is more of a problem when you're low level and don't have that many spells or spell uses, so, you have to reset them a lot. I don't understand what you mean by random ambushes as a rest mechanic, you mean x chance of getting ambushed when someones listen/observe/whatever check fails? I'd find that rather annoying IMO.
  10. But your tank won't say "I'll hold them off, RUN!", in a hodor mechanic your tank only says "hodor", repeatedly. Hodor. Oh, I completely didn't get it. We did see in the E3 vid that at least one type of enemy definetly will ambush you. Sandworms in that case, I forget the actual ingame name that they're given though.
  11. Maybe fighter/monk for sword saint? Although Samurai/Ronin are mythologically pretty similar to paladins/knights, though in reality, there were plenty of bad actors among them. Same for actual European knights, they were every bit as prone to doing bad things as everybody else despite the chivalry air and the King Arthurs knights mythology.
  12. Maybe a hodor mechanic? But your tanks dies permanently. You mean like "I'll hold them off, RUN!"? Has pretty much zero chance of living, but buys time. Or maybe the Ionni moon (I actually tried to use it to kill Devil of Caroc). About the only places that I'd see it happening are scripted circumstances.
  13. Sword Saint sounds like another name for paladin, IMO, or the name of a paladin order.
  14. A question that someone asked on Josh's tumbler relating to tanking and the taunt mechanic that is certainly relevant to this thread: https://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/162046603176/im-curious-about-the-role-of-a-tank-in-the-party It's not much, but it is insight into how he feels about taunt mechanics.
  15. Someone asked a question about tanking and the taunt mechanic: https://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/162046603176/im-curious-about-the-role-of-a-tank-in-the-party It's nowhere even close to revelatory or anything, but it is insight into how he feels about taunt mechanics.
  16. Nope. All of the known ones are from a video Josh Sawyer did showing how the multiclass stuff works, AFAIK. There might be another mention or two elsewhere, either in his twitter or his tumblr blog.
  17. Josh Sawyer said that the multiclass combo name is going to be the same regardless of the subclass, so, corpse eater/ascendant will have the same name as corpse eater/soul blade. Same if it's berserkoid (a barbarian subclass I made up just now)/ascendant as it's still barbarian/cipher. You have to realize that with three subclasses for each class, that multiplies the number of possible combinations by, well, a lot. Better to just use the base class.
  18. You can "one trust to the right spot" and kill with many things; a knife, a pencil... You wouldn't enter a medieval battle with a dagger in hand if you have options. Daggers are essentially medieval side-arms, but made so they can be main weapons & used in open battles in RPGs, so RL references & how good daggers are in RL meaningless here, talk about daggers for what they are in RPGs. And again, I'm not questioning daggers' place in the game; I like daggers when a rogue dual-wields them the best and I frown upon if a paladin or priest wields it If you can find a valid concept and the game allows it so you can make dagger wielding paladins & priests, good for you. To summarize.. He just feels this way, nothing anyone says will sway his opinion. It really is the fault of the fantasy community for assuming paladin's are always associated with a "knight" type role. As well as assuming that Knights are only allowed to be meat headed sword and board types.. Or as DnD based comics (Order of the Stick makes use of it a couple times, and I linked to the first page as I can't be bothered to find the page that mentions it) joke about it, 'lawful good, not lawful stupid'. Everybody is entitled to play it however they want and Obsidian provides lots of latitude with possibilities with PoE1 and 2. Like my rogueish monk concept.
  19. Plus, with the ability to multiclass, you could add in healing abilities as a side function, perhaps to enhance a tank or something.
  20. I suppose one could try to make a mod that does it like that, but they seem to be only planning for multiclassing to only one class. However, any class can multiclass to anything with no restrictions, other than back to it's own class.
  21. I know PoE1 was crowdfunded, same as PoE2, though I'm not sure if Tyranny was a joint thing with Obsidian and Paradox. The fact that the forum for it is on Paradox lends it to being a joint project.
  22. As a company, yeah, Paradox is a great one to go with, and AFAIK, they were pretty hands off with the development of PoE1 and Tyranny (I heard they came on board pretty late in Tyranny). So, as long as they let Obsidian do their thing, it should be fine. Unlike, you know, EA....
  23. Seems like this is something that the devs could perhaps clarify in a fig update. It doesn't even need to be spoilery, they could do written examples like Bob says X, Alice says Y, but then Dave chimes in with Z response. In a fig update, they also mentioned, specifically for Eder anyway, there would be... not sure if personality traits are the right term to use... but they said that the characters (including your main?) would be tagged with things like pro-Eothas, animal lover, racist (Eder seems to be in the 'doesn't know any better but is willing to change' type of racist, perhaps having an Orlan kid around helps reform him), etc. So, that kind of thing would also come into play, I think. The conversation system is a LOT more complex than in PoE1, that's for sure. At least it feels that way.
  24. Point is that everybody plays their characters in different ways. Also, I hope that new function would also apply to weapons, that way you could keep one weapon in one hand for both sets and change the weapon for the other hand. It's a bit of a niche thing, that's for sure, but can't argue against quality of life improvements, right?
