Hello DexGames, beautiful post. If you could, I'd like an update exclusively on spellcasting and combat please!
-
The further they stray from D&D casting rules, the better. The resting formula was always pretty tiresome ajd wasteful. So my vote is that they go with more modern rules from Jrpg's rather than similar to D&D system. Sure Deadfire isn't a Jrpg, but that doesn't mean Crpg's can't have better casting times in the future I could not disagree more with this assessment. First off, plenty of pre-combat buffing options already exist. Food. Potions. And priest trap spells. Regular traps too. Second, the game already has such an effortless stealth system, so that 90 percent of the fights permit you to position your guys perfectly before engagement. Not just positioning but you can literally open engagement with things like a volley of ranged shots. With all this, why does the player need more buffs? Adding such a thing would make the game ridiculously easy and actually narrow combat's strategy. Hmmm... I was hoping for something a wee bit more challenging in this regard.

Humor in Deadfire
SonicMage117 replied to a topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I did remember him saying that but I didn't post it because I wasn't sure exactly where or how he said it. Like I said, Deadfire's locale really allows for them to push humor more. The brighter colors and island-ish scene makes for fun and what have you so it's no surprise. -
I am supposing that the overall organic freedom of the player in Deadfire is equal to or more than the first game but what if the (particularly) story freedom in comparison to the first game? The answer is: Much more. Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out, however... Now since so many features such as character multi-tasking, broadened exploration, talking swords and such have been added, should the story be forced or take a more directive approach in a Fallout 4 manner to compensate. That's what this is all about. Please understand, I'm not saying that the game will have less storyline freedom because of these new features, far from it but should freedom in some speculative form be compromised, I'd like to see why. That's all. Now you tell me, especially because most of you are backers... Are you worried about this? Story freedom sacrificed for new features is nothing new in video games, however, it's in Obsidian's sweet lil paws so there's that. Tell me your thoughts!

Having a full-time job and the duties of not only a parent but also a husband, I barely have time to game. If I tried to calculate total bearings, it would probably be something like 5 minutes a day, if that. The usual is me playing one day and then going 2 weeks to a month without playing at all. It varies but we have pets here as well so that means I put away my pc every time it's not in use... because accident, whether with kids or pets, just for assurance. Indeed they are. As would be suggested by the game, yes.

Humor in Deadfire
SonicMage117 replied to a topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The first Pillars had great A-list humor. It wasn't anything too obvious like say, what we see in a Divinity game... but it was there if one understood it they were able to pick it up. The subtlety fit well within the first game due to it's setting. However, I could see the humor being louder and more notably referred in Deadfire because the tone is overall very different from the first game. I could see a dual-wielding Peter Griffin running around in Deadfire and it fitting well, whereas in the first game would not make much sense. -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES

Nintendo has always had the worst controllers over the years, well... after SNES anyways. They should just stop trying to be so innovative with controllers. The Wavebird Pro on the other hand is like a cheap hybrid knockoff which takes and mixes from a couple controllers. Xbox controllers seem to have been the most comfortable and better performing of any controller. Even Logitech controllers. I always preferred the Duke over the S controller personally so I wouldn't mind picking one up for pc. The fact that is was bigger and yet ergonomically than smaller more "molded" controllers is impressive to say the least. -
I guffawed! lol It's like when you meet that beautiful young lady and ask her out for coffee and a Danish and she responds with a deeper voice than your own. Yes'm it's pretty crazy lol

Edit button doesn't load sometimes on phone Now I switch to full version and it works. Sorry about that. Now I'm trying to think of a way to make this comment useful and not in vain. Okay, I found something you may like... http://store.steampowered.com/app/589780/The_Red_Strings_Club/ The Red Strings Club is on sale for $11.99 from $14.99, it's a pixel graphix indie game in which you bartend and try to bring down a corrupt organization I think fans of Thimbleweed will love it^ Iconoclast is releasing soon, January 23, right around the corner... http://store.steampowered.com/app/393520/Iconoclasts/ No word on price yet as far as I know but I'm guessing anywhere in the range of $14.99-$19.99. For anyone who didn't know, Iconoclast is an amazing looking pixel art platforming game, similar to Megaman in that respect. Additionally, the Deadfire page on Steam is up! You can view it here... http://store.steampowered.com/app/560130/Pillars_of_Eternity_II_Deadfire/ -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES

I thought the Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen renaster was essential. Original7I had the game on PS3 and the 24-29fps frame cap and 720i rez made me sick most of the time and hurt my eyes. I loved the game but never could play or finish it for that reason. ------------------------------------------------------- Will be competing with Kingdom Come on February 13th! -
It was one of my favorite experiences of last year, definitively worth mastering. Please keep in mind that after a while charms and the correct charm combinations become indispensable, if you want to have a relatively easy go at the later bosses. This game rewards exploration as much as skill. It's much easier with a controller My save file got wiped, I found it's much easier when you know the map well enough that you're confortable with. When I first played the game, the bosses such as the Mantis Lords, Hornet and False Knight took me like 10 tries. Coming back for my new playthrough, I took each out with ease.

I wonder if the Obsidian community will just call them Arques ad Blunders in time to make them simpler I understand what you're saying though, it kinda makes you wonder why sword is still called a sword in Eora, or why a knife is called an knife, axe an axe, etc but why gun isn't called a gun. I mean... the world of Pillars is already so complex, we have to relearn things and are introduced to many more so learning a new term for "gun" is just another thing I suppose.

The first pic looks great, the second pic is a bit weird to me. Probably because the blue orlan looks so out of place at that height.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES

To be fair, most remasters are given for free, to those who have owned the previous games... examples include Bioshock 1 and 2, Skyrim, Guacumelee, The Vanishing Of Wthan Carter, Divinity: Original Sin, Darksiders 1 and 2... and others. There's really no justifying why they aren't giving it free to pre-existing owners (Well... Greed is as good as a justification if any). I suppose it's a good way to fund their next game project lol -
I was just reading an article of Baldurs Gate 2 and it mentions that the map was pretty revolutionary for the time... sorta a 2D Skyrim and packed with things to do - of course I don't have to tell you guys that. One of my personal favorite maps was Just Cause 2's map. I thought it was a nice balance of elements while I hated that Just Cause 3 had alot of water (allowing for water vehicles but pointless to me since there is nothing to do underwater). Although Just Cause 3 did have some epic verticality to its strongholds. Just Cause 2 is not close to being my favorite game but the map was and still is one of my favorites to run around in and explore.
