It's certainly not a "pure" FPS, but it's more concentrated on fighting than anything else. In most instances, fighting was the key to moving on in the world. Sands of Time and its ilk would be puzzle action games, as it was less hacking things to bits than strategically jumping and wall-running that allowed for forward movement.

Why would he, though? A big part of what made the Myrkul talk fun was that he was at your mercy (I Eternal Rested him, being a goodie) an actual living God wouldn't suffer mortals gladly, although perhaps if the game was set in the Moonshaes I could see it happening in some form or another.

You'd be missing out on a lot of games for the PC, but really, the $400 it takes to buy a current-gen console wouldn't cover half the expenses it would take to buy an equivalent computer (it might just cover the RAM and video card)

If you don't like narratives, that is. Episode 2 is run-of-the-mill Half Life (get to the lab across a great distance, quick!) with some plot twists thrown in. Combat's about the same, if you substitute Big Daddies with Hunters and splicers with Combine Soldiers, antlions and zombies. Ep 2 has a strider battle, Bioshock has soup-thick atmosphere. Plus, Bioshock's longer and isn't just part of a larger picture.

It's certainly worth a playthrough, at the very least. There seems to be a backlash from the more self-conscious gamers, here and elsewhere. But is it worth buying a console over? I don't think it is. It's good, but it ain't a $400 investment. That having been said, I personally see the 360's past and future lineups as being far superior to the PS3's (plus, it's just cheaper) but mainly because Square and Kojima don't make a console for me.

On the upside, for me at least, it seems to have fixed the game-obliterating bug that came with Shivering Isles.
