  1. Ah, I had thought it was Kaelyn and OoM that had been mutually exclusive.
  2. OBA - Okku Bleeds Always. Gann says it's a sign of vanity, but, you know, that's coming from Gann. So to get One of Many, you can't have gotten Kaelyn? Or does Kaelyn leave / attack when you get One of Many, or what? Because I imagine it'd be a bit harder to fight Okku with just three people.
  3. Not unique enough for me to take notice over the gameplay. God of War bored me to tears. At least with Psychonauts, I had something clever I've never seen before to help me get over the rote platformer gameplay. This game is going to feature Jack Black prominently, so given the trailer I already expect The Pick of Destiny: The Game, and that movie sucked. There's absolutely no reason for me to expect otherwise. Adult Swim is a niche market in the same way that the indie rock is a niche market: It's not quite a mass market, but it ain't ****in' Warhammer. Violent action game + goofball 70's metal mythology = instant sleeper hit. I'd be surprised if they didn't run a heavy ad campaign during Metalocalypse. And like I said, that's fine if he can continue to make unique games because of it. But this game is like KOTOR - lowballed vision for a wider audience. Which makes Schafer's "superdesigner who cannot do wrong" title seem a bit excessive in this case.
  4. I thought the romance was tastefully done, which is what I was expecting they'd go for after the, uh, ****fests of earlier D&D games. Since I guessed Safiya's twist fairly early on, it actually worked a lot better, because I sort of incorrectly assumed that the romance was a repeat of history with the PC in the place of Akachi. It was another one of those elements that reminded me of PS:T, in that it was pretty subtle and didn't make a big show of trying to please the player.
  5. Clearly you've never seen Metalocalpyse. Or Tenacious D. I didn't think Tim Schafer would be the type to hop on bandwagons. Early word is that it's going to be a God of War clone with "squad combat" elements. And one would guess, leftover Metalocalypse plots and humor. Hopefully the kind of mouth-breather that would go for that sort of thing will buy enough copies for Schafer to make something worth playing. The second Fantastic Four movie had a good trailer too.
  6. In the shadow Mulsantir temple, there were 2 doors down a corridor to the west of the main chamber (when you enter the corridor the party is ambushed by vampire monks) that seemed to require a key to unlock. Where do you get the key? It may have been the case that I needed the Myrkul high priest's key (that I dropped shortly after opening the lower vaults, I believe) but I wanted to double check.
  7. Who's Gromnar?
  8. so far as I can tell, there's no real roll for Use Magic Device. Certain items and scrolls have certain DCs, and if your skill exceeds that DC you can use it with 100% efficiency. UMD really shines with things other than scrolls, though.
  9. So I have a laptop, and I'm trying to get Deus Ex to work on it. Problem. When I try and play it, the game is accelerated. As in, it runs fine, except that everything is moving much faster than normal. From the opening "swoop in" credits to character movement. It makes the game very difficult to play, especially when the radio transmissions (which sound as if they're going at normal speed) cut off halfway through. I'm at a loss, and I suspect it has something to do with the processor. Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz processor ATI Radeon 7500 chipset 512 mb RAM Any suggestions on how to fix this?
  10. It's a concept album about the year 1957, comes out in 2 weeks. Features a remix by k-os at the end.
  11. Nah, that feature's been in since NWN2 OC day. WHERE YA BEEN
  12. But unless you go solo (or just tag along the Thayan and Okku) you'll have a Heal machine in the party anyway.
  13. Man, they're going to have to try really hard to be derivative of an anime, an inbred genre if there ever was one. Bioware probably won't lay on the leaden, weepy melodrama that thick. I'm expecting something more along the lines of Total Recall than any anime.
  14. Yeah, a few more. Some of their fates are mysteries, but the big 'uns you find out in the endgame and elsewhere. At least, when I played it.
  15. Nonsense. What you need is the AK-74 that you picked up from the army dudes at the rail bridge. Slightly more accurate, much more deadly. When you come into the Agroprom Institute (after the little battle cutscene plays) run along the right side behind the boxcars. You'll come out behind a big concrete walkway/barrier. From here, you've got great cover and a good view of the army's heads. Shoot them off. If you're close enough the shottie might also work.
  16. I'm interested in running through as a spellcaster and seeing how the difficulty changes. My first playthrough was as a munchkin-d out fighter, and I was never truly challenged.
  17. yeah, I noticed. It would make sense to include fatigue in a Chult expansion, since wearing any kind of metal armor is problematic there. It's fun to play in PnP because everything's made of wood and leather and has serious penalties to attack and damage (though I wouldn't expect Obsidz to implement any of that). I'd think an expansion there would be interesting. That having been said, after the IWD series I'm burnt out on Yuan-Ti, which would be the logical antagonists in such a setting. I wouldn't expect the Shardbearer to be the protagonist, though.
  18. I'm sure you have heard of the legend of the frog and the scorpion? Sometimes a company (or a person, or a scorpion) does things just because its what they do. Even if it is against their interests, it's just their nature. Now, I haven't taken many classes in the way of economics, but I'm pretty confident that a thomistic/teleological account of market dynamics isn't terribly popular or well-supported. Nobody mistakes a company's past behavior with an obligation to some account of "nature".
  19. So is Obsidian going to allow Warpriest / Sacred Fist for the new cleric classes soon, or is that not doable?
  20. Just finished it with a human Bard 1 / Fighter 8 / Red Dragon Disciple 10 / Divine Champion 10. My character was pretty munchkin-y (nat 28 strength, nat 26 cha) and I had a good time, even if I wasn't terribly challenged. Next up is either Monk or Warlock, with a new race. Word up. SPOILERZ FOR THE END TIMES: And man, I really wish they would've included epilogues for the CNPC that wasn't in your party at the end of the game. I split my playtime evenly between Gann and Kaelyn, made good progress with both, and went with Kaelyn to the endgame (mass heal was too good to pass up) so I'm a tad annoyed by Gann's absence at the end. Oh well. OH HEY LOOK I'M LEVEL 5 WHAT NOW
  21. I figured out a way around it (see spoiler thread). Basically, it's a staircase you can only reveal by coming from it, instead of to it.
  22. Durr
  23. Activision might eventually be able to buy EA, if they continue expanding faster than EA.
