  1. Plenty. Bioshock, Unreal Tournament 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War (I think) and lots more have been made using variations on UE3. The characteristic that seems to run through all of them is a trend towards plasticine character models.
  2. Yeah, on closer inspection it doesn't appear to be the NWN2 UI. Come oooooooon Moonsea!
  3. I can't really expect a game to accomodate 30 different game paths without them becoming diluted to the point of irrelevancy. From reading a few of the Vampire PnP books, it seemed like it was pretty rare for a character to be in control of his own fate. That was the central conceit of Bloodlines, after all. So I wouldn't expect a Vampire game to go balls-out with true player choice.
  4. This thread has caught retarded. Weak boarding. Bring on the lockhammer, I say.
  5. Well, I never thought I'd see the day when Ain't It Cool News would slavishly hype something. I'm convinced!
  6. Any sort of idea of evolution that involves linearity or degree (devolution, etc.) is a non-concept completely without merit. People are confused enough as it is to what natural selection entails. Anyway, getting back on topic, if Turkey wants to revise the hadith, they're not going to get away with it. The hadith pertains more to history than law, and Turkey's had a long history of smothering cultural identities as it has moved towards modernization, such that they're under constant watch. It comes down to how much trouble they want to make for themselves. The Sharia is subject to local custom, so they've got more leeway with that.
  7. It's the end of the month right now. Geez.
  8. An incentive like what? It'd have to be something that you couldn't pirate, because naturally people are going to want it in their pirated games. But it created bad publicity because people are petty and stupid, not because of the DRM. The people who played illegitimate copies and complained are like people who complain that the handling on the car they just stole is ****ty. They're not in any position to demand smooth gameplay. They're not in any position to demand gameplay period. There's no indication in the rant (maybe there is elsewhere?) that people who actually owned copies had these problems. Think of it this way: How would you react if people went around denigrating MotB as nigh-unplayable because they only played the early builds of NWN2 proper? (which, incidentally, is something I've run into often outside these boards) That's obviously wrongheaded, and so is bitching about any game you haven't played. Unless you're suggesting that a way to reduce piracy is to remove DRM, which is at the same time both terribly novel and totally expected. We don't pirate games because they've got DRM, we pirate games because we want to play them.
  9. NO IT ISNT THOSE GENRES IS BANKRUPT WAH WAHHHHH
  10. You must realize the gigantic BAAAAAAW and sales backlash that would come out of gaming if anybody ever actually tried that.
  11. Might've been a PM offense. They come down harder on that sort of thing. Didn't seem like he liked this forum or its inhabitants much in the first place.

  13. There's really no way of avoiding politics. I think it's summed up pretty neatly in the dilemma of the man who doesn't vote. He recuses himself from the process, but the process goes on despite him, and he's affected by it under whatever policies and administrations are instituted in his absence. Given that passivity doesn't really get us anywhere, the best thing we can do is discuss matters of politics to influence one another.

SS2 Balance mod wheeee! Maybe it when it comes out we can turn down the constant BAAAAAAAW coming out of this forum.
  16. Heaven forbid something be difficult.
  17. Nader got 2.7% in 2000 under the Green Party nomination, but only .3% in 2004 as an independent. People voted for him in 2000 because he based his campaign around the similarities of Bush and Gore. Now, I think everybody knows that the differences are painfully clear. If anything, he's more a threat to McCain's pool of independent voters than Obama's.
  18. It makes sense. The person most likely to head an anti-substance abuse group would be a former substance abuser. If you've ever tried to quit smoking cigarettes you'd know that it can take many years and many tries to nail down a habit, and it's never guaranteed to last. Unless you're one of those mind-over-matter types, in which case, please submit your personal info so as to make the sterilization process smooth.
  19. The dogs in CoD4, like the facehuggers in the AvP games, were pretty sparsely used. You really only had problems with the dogs if you were stupid, and the facehugger parts were the most ****ing tense parts of the incredibly tense AvP(1) marine game.
  20. Well that was over quick. Naysayers say nay.
  21. I don't know if we should be talking about franchises getting revived so much as franchises going cold with something like this, depending on if there' "restructuring" done.
