  1. Game's been dated for Oct 28, 31 in Europe.
  2. It's the neck, on the left (her right) of her face. It seems to just sort of meld into her face.
  3. Save the pics, 'cause it looks like Sega have gotten wise and password protected their FTP. That will be a problem in the future, unless funcroc actually has access and isn't just a very talented investigator. The character models are fantastic, but the environments could definitely use some AA. Check out the beams in the stomach punch pic, or the wall lamp in the neck chop pic.
  4. Hopefully the trailer for AP won't have to obscure how shoddy the game looks.
  5. Dunno. Haven't you seen the latest Bourne film? You can choke a guy with a towel, if you're good.
  6. I know I've played a few games scored by Brandon, a couple of Epic games and the like, but his most celebrated work is probably Deus Ex. He created some good ambient pieces but the combat music was generally very "clubby", with driving, persistent beats. The only concern I have is that his past work, as well as his recent solo material, has a very "compressed" sound, heavy on synths and synth instrumentation, strings and all that. Just listening to Deus Ex (and, uh, looking at it, I guess) you'd guess it'd be older than it is in actuality. But the MotB theme had none of that and it was pretty good. I'm more interested in what he'll come up with for AP and (especially, since sci-fi seems to suit his style) Aliens. As a general rule I don't much care for fantasy game music unless it's unusually melodious or rhythmic. IWD and a few tracks off of the BG2 soundtrack, etc.
  7. STALKER: Clear Sky is gold and out Sep 5. I'm sure I'll enjoy the scenery, atmosphere and beast AI before running into a huge, frustrating hole in the design or a weird bug and stop playing.
  8. Looks pretty alright, all things considered.
  9. Happened upon in the "related videos" section...
  10. Exactly. Killing someone with a teddy bear will be just as easy as killing someone with a BB gun.
  11. Depends on the platform. Consoles will hit $60, but the PC version could go as low as $40.
  12. I love that people think that demo was actual gameplay.
  13. It came to me in a dream This game must have Myron. Maybe not Myron Myron. But a reasonable approximation of Myron. A Myron-alike, if you will. A snotty punk-ass kid genius who makes destructive drugs and has a smart mouth. Think about it. We all loved to be annoyed by Myron in the old days. What with this new game, we'll have the option to shoot his face off, or break his knuckles, or maybe even belittle him until he's cowed and obedient, just like in the old days. He'll be a low-level conspirator or a clueless stooge who gets too big for his britches. You can talk him into helping you... OR BREAK HIS KNUCKLES. It's the only sensible choice, really.

I got it off of Joystiq, who implied no foolery. The only "cheating" I can surmise they did with the first image is adding a grain that covers flaws and makes it look like the foreground image is actually existing within the background. But the fact that there's a debate makes it even more impressive if it's real. If not, well, blah.
  15. This is a CG image. It's part of AMD's new "Cinema 2.0" deal, announced with the 2.4 teraflop ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 (to put it in perspective, the PS3's Nvidia chip exerts 1.8 teraflops of power. The ATI 360 chip puts out about 1 teraflop) I did not suspect that it was a CG image until I was told, but now that I know I think the features of the neck and the shadows are a little off. But the things that you normally notice as being "a little off", notably the features around the eyes and the hair, are not very apparent. Of course, the eyes look a little blank, I suppose. But there wasn't a confluence of flaws that shouted "fake" to me initially. I don't know, maybe it's just me. If you had told me this was a picture taken with a low-quality digital camera and superimposed over a Photoshop background I would've definitely believed it. Here's a CG map of the woman's face: The software for this sort of graphix isn't out yet, and it won't come out with the card. So for now you can only utiize this card to, I don't know, run two games of Crysis at highest settings at the same time. The card will be available for about the price of a low-end custom rig ($599 or thereabouts) and a somewhat less powerful card will be out later for about $399. It's nice and all, but I'm not looking forward to games adding years onto their development times and millions of dollars onto their budgets just for this level of detail. For now this is all flash-and-dazzle eye candy, and it's pretty damn effective. Here are some other rendered shots: Looks like maybe an approximation of Dog from HL2 A spherical room Of course, the true test is animation. This is without a doubt the single most convincing CG still I've ever seen rendered on a consumer-grade GPU, but they say with these things it takes less than three seconds to catch the falsity of CG animation. And yes I know this should probably go in the tech forum but waaaaaaah, I don't frequent that forum and thus naturally assume no one else does either.
  16. Playing through Fallout 2 with a strictly melee build, I dispute that. This is far and away the most powerful character I've ever made, even before getting the Slayer perk and increased HtH attacks and going totally ****ing bat**** on the world and tearing through every encounter my Energy Weapons builds ran screaming from (hello, enclave patrols. hello, fire geckos. hello, large pack of aliens). All you need is EN >5 and the best power armor you can net yourself. The latter is the most important part. But everybody who plays the Fallouts gets the power armor (moreso 2 than 1)
  17. I wonder if there's going to be more than one style of martial art, ala Van Buren or, uh, Jade Empire. That'd be cool. And as far as animation / mocap goes, that's my second concern. My first concern is hit detection. How's it going to work? Will there be area-specific damage to limbs and the like? How will it interact with the physics and environment? That sort of thing is what makes unarmed combat interesting in the first place. Nobody wants Bloodlines combat + a disarm move.
  18. The Witcher Dungeon Siege II GTA 4 DX: Invisible War Thief: Deadly Shadows

    Good old Obsidz board irony.
  20. I think the VA for Kreia was... the girl from the Exorcist I think? The voice of the doctor in ME was a Star Trek TNG actor.

It's been revealed that Warren Ellis (the Transmetropolitan guy) did up most if not all of Dead Space's story and writing. So... that ought to interest some of yous.
  22. Alexander Brandon, also some lady who Josh mentioned once. Can't remember the name...
