  1. Vader was a good classic style villan. Thrawn was a unique work of genius.
  2. That's one reason Thrawn was seen as more reasonable, better, and in his own way scarier than Vader. He was always compotent and incontrol.
  3. Firstly, how would we probably work a teacher into the game in our campaign? Holocron? Someone probably can't play as a teacher as they would be way more powerful than us. Unless the GM has a teacher or teachers having this adventure with us which would be weird. Secondly, Ganner was the show offish Jedi in the NJO who always tried to be the dashing, flashy, gallavant hero and had an inflated opinion of himself. He was obsessed with his own good looks and wore a flashy cape with expensive boots and tried to cover his own fears through acting as the perfect hero. After Anakin dies he tries to loose that attitude and be a real, non-flashy hero. He finally succeeds and proves himself a true hero and Jedi as he dies guarenteeing Jacen Solo's escape in Destiny's Way.
  4. What does throwing a lightsaber have to do with bending the saber beam? You yank the saber back to you when you throw it. What does that have to do with whips?
  5. I guess that would work. but it would seem a little cheezy I think. Maybe you can't go past a certain distance from the hawk while your main character is healing. Btw I assume droids would be fixed up in a droid shop while the other charac ter use medical technology?
  6. It's okay. I'm going to specialize in the danger sense and lightsaber parts of sense and primarily telekinesis. Ohhh idea. I can by the Ganner Rhysode of the group.
  7. When Chewie dies it makes sense Han goes into a depression. But he gets up and moves on, eventually growing closer to his family in the end. The characters are fine...at least in the early NJO (I've already talked about non SW writers being brought in and weakening the SW feeling). No, I don't think the characters are off. i think that the books have gone on way too long. The vong would be way cooler if they had seperate series about them, rather than one massive story. The way things are going now we are getting bored with the story, the vong, we are getting frusturated, and we are being taken away from the classic SW era books for longer, causing almost a sense of longing and homesickness.
  8. Killing mission isn't just dark side, it's stupid. Mission was an ally who was not in a position to be a threat or challange Revan. If he were a smart manipultive sith, revan would have convinced Mission he (or she) was doing what is best for the galaxy and thus not have wasted a valuable ally. Killing mission shows the stupid thug view of the dark side present in KOTOR 1.
  9. I think from what I've read the NJO is about the passing down of the line of heroes to a new generation. It's also about the first serious, non empire threat to the New Republic that has had a series. How well the series succeeded in showing these were their intentions... I actually think that the empire is more of a big bad than the vong. The vong are different from what the galaxy has seen before and thus catch the galaxy by suprise. As shown by alpha red and new starfighter techniques, once the galaxy adapts to them they are not nearly as hard.
  10. I'm probably going to start out focusing on sense related to saber combat/danger awareness along with telekinesis. I'll probably eventually branch out to become compotent in all areas. Btw, how is damage figured? Is strength a modifier like in most RPGs? Also, how much health do you have and how does one reduce damage? How does one block/dodge/parry/ect...?
  11. I guess it's final we are KOTOR era playing?
  12. So of the NJO books are good and should be recognized. I like star by star personally. Destiny's Way is also interesting. Many of the others are...good books that don't hold true to the star wars enviroment. As the NJO grew more popular, many new writers jumped on the star wars series. These writers may be good, but they aren't star wars writers. Thus the books loose some of the star wars feel.
  13. Saber axes do seem a little...yah... Well anyway, a saber was originally created using frozen blaster technology and therefore I see it as dififcult ot bend. Only distortion from gravity can bend that energy unless I'm really wrong. Therefore it is unlikely that a lightsaber that bends is plausible. Then again, there is precedent which is the ultimate source.
  14. Same here. I'm pretty much unavalible mon and wed 5:30-8:30 for the next six weeks. I also am busy thurs 7 o'clock, and have a summer vacation trip to Cape Cod at the end of July or early august.
  15. Alot of people like me have stated that lightsaber whips are not plausible, but laser whips (really really similar) do exist in the star wars universe. If you really want to go into saber whips though, in the NJO Rebel Dream (I think that's the title), the enemy with implanted lightsabers can make the blades bend. E.g., one is implanted into his palm and when he bends his wrist, the saber blade actually bends. If this bending is possible in the star wars universe, then lightsaber whips can theoretically exist. I say theoretically because there is no direct refrence I can remember about lightsaber whips. Whips go against the jedi principal I think. Lightsabers are hard to control as it is even with the force. Therefore, lightsaber whips are infinitely more difficult to control and can be unpredictable. As the jedi order is all about control...saber whips are against their philosophy.
  16. I got telekinesis if we do that. I don't know what type that goes under or what it's called in these rules, but I got telekinesis....wait no sense...wait not telekinesis. I guess we should each start out specializing in one type and diversify. I want to have that lightsaber combat one. We should each specialize in different aspects of jedi-ness (e.g. in KOTOR they have consulars and their opposites guardians). I just read up on the telekinesis, and shouldn't getting a dark side point vary on the situation when you attack someone with objects. If killing someone with a saber isn't a dsp but knocking them unconcious with a piece of metal that you telekinesis is always a dark side point there's a problem.
  17. Not saber whips. Laser whips are possible in the satr wars universe. They appeared at least once (most memorable time is Jedi Apprentice Series with that bounty hunter).
  18. If I had 5 votes it would be 3 for thrawn era and 2 for kotor era. I would prefer thrawn (simply because I haven't seen it done and it's a cool time of change in the books), but only by a tiny bit. If the other people want to do KOTOR era, I'd be happy to.
  19. Anyway, do the battles manage to preserve the cinematic feel of the movies and books? Does this system reproduce the classic star wars feeling?
  20. Yah and if there was no racing lag making it impossible despite how fast your computer is. Just an annoying and random glitch I was unlucky enough to have. But I also agree about the upgrades. People said buy some upgrades for your bike and "we have the best swoop bike upgrades" in stores, but you couldn't do anything about it.
  21. Finally other people start saying what I've been saying: how does it hurt to have pazaak. It can be kind of fun (ok, not that much and not for long periods of time or even medium periods), but it's a change of pace to stop KOTOR itself from getting boring.
  22. Erm...doesn't that mean that attributes cost the same as skills...at least they follow the same pattern. 1 pip per points equal to current. That's not ten times. Or is it? Summer vacation=math challenged.
  23. I hear these character points are applicable for just about every form of improvement. How hard are they to gain?
  24. And how does the process of purchasing force powers work? At character creation I mean.
  25. I got to go for now, but before my tiredness overcomes me and I loose intelligibility, what are duel wielding rules and what sorta campaign are you running (emphasis on combat, diplomacy. ect....)? Also, what time period are you thinking and do you have any race/idea bans/reccomendations? Also how strict are you with Dark Side Points?
