  1. I think this is the split where people see themsevles as the main character vs people that don't. I am one of the latter.
  2. Obsidian games are kind of infamous for being poorly optimized. Man, that sucks. I must add though that Obsidian has greatly supported this game till it went out of support, which wasn't that long ago. The games state is what it is and it won't change anymore unless there's a fan patch (which are being made on the Nexus). There don't seem to be performance increasing mods. The GTX680 is old. You can actually buy cards that are much better cards now for a little bit of money. Although I probably wouldn't for just a single game. Wish you the best, and if you ever do play the game you know where to find us
  3. The difficulty doesn't balance the game. It changes stats of enemies. Balancing the game towards a specific difficulty will unbalance it for the others. You can't have both. The game has so many tools and options that people with no knowledge of the game may struggle while more experienced players have an easy time on PotD.
  4. I tested this on my trickster and made several hits with and without the ring. Damage was exactly the same. It made no difference. It IS weird... Seems like bleeding cut isn't good with Oathbreaker's End tho if you don't play Assassin... the hit in recovery is really bad.
  5. That's definitely wrong. The thing is voidwheel doesn't actually deal damage to you. You just lose it. It's not listed as damage in the overview nor is there a damage number over your head. I dealt 80 damage to an enemy and I took 8 damage with and without voidward. It made no difference at all. I think voidward only works on incoming damage, not self damage.
  6. Yea I use Ring of Focussed flame with Paladins all the time. It's very nice. And free.
  7. Not really seeing the benefit of bleeding cut from Axes. It's 10% of all damage dealt spread out over 60 seconds. You take a 50% hit to recovery which is insane to deal 0.5 damage per 3 seconds extra if your attack did 100 damage... Am I reading that wrong? Sounds utterly useless. Or is it 10% every 3 seconds? It states "over" 60 seconds. That sounds to me like it's spread over 60 seconds.
  8. That sucks then. If you want to increase damage by a lot then the lashes are the way to go. Using +2 Mig gloves (+6% damage) is then more lucrative than the +10% from the crit gloves. The way it was set up and how small the crit boni were I always thought it was multiplicative. I never used Voidwheel because of the raw damage to self. How does this interact with Voidward? Does it remove the 10%? Or does it reduce the 10% to 7.5%? How do you feel about Willbreaker? Deals 8 Raw damage per 3 secs for 12 secs. Don't know if it stacks though. I wanted to go with a bleed build at one point, but couldn't really decide on a class/weapon combo. I also wanted to go with Ranger because I simply never play one because I never ever play ranged classes for my PC. Pick ghostheart and then use melee with Wounding Shot. Not sure if Wounding Shot stacks either as I never paid attention to it. Edit, just did a test with Voidwheel and Voidward. Voidward does absolutely nothing and Voidwheel deals about 12% of the damage dealt as raw damage to self. Weird. Unless the damage is based off of the base damage including the lashes, but excluding the raw lash. Then it's about 9-11% something still not 100% right, but it comes close to 10%. Willbreaker bleeds don't stack. Wounding Shot doesn't stack either.
  9. Wait isn't crit all damage times crit %? It isn't based on the base damage of the weapon like normal damage boni as far as I know. That would mean crit damage increase is pointless.
  10. I think it's quite tough to balance this game. My original party was so incredibly weak vs what I create now. Choosing the wrong skills and abilities and the wrong party comp can make some fights really difficult. Also the in-game descriptions are so poor (much like in POE1) that a fresh player will not understand what he is choosing. Gearing and balancing the game towards people that breeze through on PotD makes the game incredibly difficult for new players.
  11. Well see (at the danger I'm pulling it out of context) this part: "but then have to live with the fact that they are asocial douchebags" assumes they would feel that way. Which they don't. People that kill other people aren't necessarily douchebags and karma isn't a thing in real life. If you make the choice to sacrifice a friend, then you may be a psychopath. Which in turn makes it so you are detached from this in the first place. You wouldn't feel bad about it and you certainly wouldn't be a douchebag. Not even asocial as psychopaths mimic social interactions better than anyone and often have high charisma to boot. Having to "live with it" assumes it weighs on your conscience. This would apply only if it mattered to you. That's what I'm saying. From the line above it appears that Obsidian views the choices from only their own perspective because it would matter to them. I'm pretty sure no one at Obsidian would have guessed that in my PT's Durance would have died consistently after uttering "Saw you in the flames".
  12. Ah sorry I got confused by you mentioning soulblade and then referencing Dragon's Dowry right after. Kind of forgot Soul Annihilation doesn't work with ranged weapons. I'm thinking Devoted/Assassin with Karabörü would deal more damage due to the +35% crit damage. That outweigh's Bleakwalker I think in terms of damage output. DD also has -15% crit damage, but it does get a good lash. you'll need a 50% lash to break even with devoted and Karabörü.
  13. Yea I get it, except that those people never feel that way in real life. You can't make the assumption that everyone has a similar conscience or has similar social context.
  14. Man unlucky. With me he always stands on the complete right side out of sight. Maybe time of day matters?
  15. Can you show me a rough calculation of this? I calculate Dragon's Dowry with all passives and such from cipher and Assassin will deal 227 damage on crit with overpenetration. In your example that would mean that soul annihilation deals close to 400 damage? I think the max you can deal with SA is like 200 or something similar as that is the max focus for Soul Blade. SA can't crit right?
  16. Unless you're extremely underleveled I wouldn't know what opponent that would be. I usually clear Magran's area and pick up Magran's Favor and such at level 12. Sure it's on Veteran mode, but these enemies are like 6 levels higher than me. What's the stat difference between Veteran and PotD?
  17. But you'd spend more time casting that spell than doing anything else... I mean sure you can cast buff and debuff spells without getting spotted and with extra accuracy true. But you could also beat the encounter before then with another build. I might try it, but it doesn't sound efficient. How much damage have you done with an alpha assassin strike btw?
  18. Well that goes for my first and maybe my second PT. I obviously didn't sacrifice anyone then. After that it doesn't really matter to me. In real life I wouldn't have killed Durance. Although he might have ended up in the hospital. To me Durance is an expendable character so I can sacrifice him and I have done so almost all the times. It's actually kind of rewarding seeing him suffer and then as he understands he's going to die and there's nothing he can do about it my PC does a little victory lap around the blood pool. Also the DLC characters never stuck to me so if I want Might I sacrifice Maneha. I can always blame Thaos.
  19. I'm not sure how brilliant works with spell regen. Isn't spell regen randomly per level?
  20. Yea I did play with Durance all the way through. And even though his story is good I dislike him as a character. I dislike people like this in real life as well. Moron's who think they are better than anyone else and put that in your face. GTFO. And Eder was definitely dead in POE2. So I played the beginning alone... Right now that wouldn't be an issue, but at that time it was my first playthrough so it was hard. I think I switched it to another PT later. My first game I finished with Eder, Aloth, Xoti and Mirke.
  21. I never sacrificed Aloth because his stats are useless for you . On my first PT with Poe2 I loaded a save where I sacrificed Eder... that made it very difficult lol. Durance's stats are very good if you want to be more tanky. I also dispise Durance. I think I killed him in about 99% of my PT's even if I didn't sacrifice him I just killed him in Magran's Cross and looted his corpse. win-win.
  22. Yea, but that doesn't really work in video games. I always absorb the souls even in a benevolent playthrough because the +1 Mig and +5% HP is too good to pass up. Yes I also always sacrifice a companion. If I play benevolent I always sacrifice Durance. Evil, I can pick anyone else. Stuff like this doesn't weigh on your mind. Even when in POE2 your soul starts talking to you about this I don't give a rats ass. It doesn't weigh on your mind, because it's a game and it's not real. And the effects of being evil are non existent. In real life, being evil makes life completely different including the people you hang out with. In video games you can be the hero of the lands and murder children at the same time. Josh is just wrong.
  23. Interesting, I never had Konstanten in the party, but they do not talk to the other actual companions and they do not comment on the story itself. They may comment on certain sidequests but it's very limited. Yes I know they're in the DLC. This is why I usually play with Fassina and Ydwin, but the fact that they don't comment on Eothas and such makes them lackluster from RP perspective. Yea I mentioned Serafen as faction related, but also that he can be used in any faction. I do use sidekicks, my gripe is that they don't comment or are a part of the main story. This is why I mention only actual companions. The fact that I have to make "hard" choices doesn't bother me if I only play this game once or perhaps twice. But since this game, like DND games has many options for you to discover and many classes to try out there's a lot of replay value. And this means that the companion selection is incredibly poor when it comes to the main story. Like I said before. That is definitely a mistake on Obsidian's part.
  24. You will need to level up stealth and pickpocket yes. Maia is a good choice as she by default has good stealth if you pick her as a scout. After you get some more good items for her such as boots of stealth and Mirrorback (cloak) she can walk around most areas without getting detected. Do note that guards have better detection skills than other inhabitants. You can also rest in "The hole" for another +2 to mechanics and stealth and use a Thiefs Putty for another 2 points. There's a trick you can use when you have the items to steal items more effectively. They're Spark crackers. You can throw this somewhere and it will distract NPCs. They will walk towards it and your stealth character will be able to loot things. This is what I do to Captain Thaenic and steal all the stuff on the ship. Well except for that last chest that requires 24 mechanics.
  25. I don't think you can. Going through the storm is marked as the point of no return. Another way to get more Adra Ban is to use the Berath Blessing Loaded Pockets. I usually pick up additional Adra Ban with this one. There's more Adra Ban found in the DLC though.
