Lunging several equipment sets in your inventory so that you can change it based on weather to maximize stealth is not fun in any way. Just as it's not particularly fun to have to rest-spam in the wilderness in order to get the night-time stealth bonus. Both of these things would be busy work, not engaging gameplay. Obsidian already confirmed waiting option, becose ToD system. You can simply wait anytime, like in TES series. About equipment - in PoE we already have some of this with bonus to stealth and more of that - we have some items with stealth debuff (armor -1 stealth and some other stuff). So i can see no harm if this things will be developed further.

This has been already confirmed to be not the case anymore. Being in scouting mode does not confer a bonus to detecting hidden stuff. Strongly disagree, it would make things a lot MORE fun, especially for rogues. Time of day, for instance does play a role in Deadfire. Every NPC has a schedule they'll follow and you can use that to your advantage. If I remember correctly they even confirmed pickpocketing. Indeed. If we get just simple stealth bonus during the night, it makes more sense to use this new ToD advantage to make some dirty business.

Aaand it will be nice, if enemies also use stealth. Imagine: your party walking in dark alley or dungeon, then some bandits attackin you from stealth, without any warning, just becose your perseption not enoug high. Some things like that adds diversity and more "atmosphere" in gameplay. Also, enemies (especially roguish types) will be real threat and not looks like an invalids, becose...they don't know how to hide

Hello to everyone! Is there any information about stealth in Deadfire? I've read all Q&A and interviews, but seems no one mentioned that... It will be nice, if stealth became more realistic - with various, individual and group, buffs and debuffs depending on time of day, new dinamic lightning system, armor and weapon type etc. PoE very often looks strange, when your party (or rogue) sneaking and shining like a cristmas tree, with all those fancy weapon enchants (yeah, i hate them). Will be some emprovements in new game?

"But why the "bla bla"? I just answered the question to the best of my belief (and experience). I guess... I had some sparkling wine when I wrote it..." - it's just a joke (i had some wine too, when i wrote this))) I've read a lot of your posts and i respect your knowledges and experience. I wish all the best for you and your family! Happy New Year

About Hit-to-crit conversion: Dirty Fighting + SA = 20% Durgan Steel = 15% Preist's Dire blessing = 20% (or Potion of Mersiless Gaze = 15%) So we have 50-55% Hit-to-Crit rate (or 65-70% with one one-handed weapon). Considering very high Rogue accuracy (with Reckless Assault), which produce more crits by default, i think it's good enough for Rogue.

"I don't want to sound c0cky, but your rogue disagrees about what?" - about weakest class cliche) "Both will laugh at the total damage done." - you forgot about game progress, i beat just half of the game, or maybe less. So, it will be close to your examples if i'll beat Act 2 + Act 3 + WM2 + other sidequests. To be clear, i'm not telling that Rogue is "best DPS class in the game" - they have some "pro" & "contra", like any other class in the game. That's it. Class effectiveness depends more of playstyle, neither of class abilities itself - barbarians and monks are not my best friends, for example, i don't know how to play with this guys

My rogue disagree with you) Level 13, White Elf Name: Velia Stats (with armor & items): 18-7-20-20-6-19 Weapons: Purgatory + Bittercut/Ravenwing+exeptional mace Knockdown: 16 times Total damage taken: 11 758 Total damage done: 113 401 Hits: 2003 Critical Hits: 1564 Max damage: 199 Total mobs defeated: 695 Game progress: Act 1+2 (unfinished), MW 1, Od Nua, now in Cragholdt bluffs Best DD ever - deals nearly every fight in 10-15 seconds. Difficulty: PotD, of course

Indeed. It's small issue and they can't (or don't want) fix it for more than half a year. This is just one example - several, not gamebreaking but annoying, issues (backstab attacks from invis, wrong damage type of swords for certain creatures, bug with Escape from Cape of Cheat when you can't attack enemies after the jump, wrong indicator for Cipher's Mindwave and many more) still appears in game, but they don't repair it, prefer stupid tweaking instead. Looks like people had a huge amount of free time and thinking: "Well, we have no work to do, sooo... let's tweak some items!" - then randomly picks victim, - "Sorry Unlabored Blade, you got the short end of the stick today..."

Broken Encding in the Stringtables? And that now? We have corrected it in the first versions of the German Fix, and the Russian Locale had it too. I do not see this issue with steam. Which file and folder? It appears in many books. At least in Russian, yes. And yes, i know about fanmod fixing this, but it's not right when modders do their job - this issue was never fixed officially in patch.

Would you argue?

"I'm more interested in why are you worrying about power of fireballs vs rapiers" - wait, it's was just figure of speach. And it's not my figure. My mind was: "I don't know why Obsidian have engage in this nonsense - tweaking items and so on. Looks like there no any other problems in game, exept poor sabres and Unlabored blade - no trash abilities, no bugs... Every time, when community ask them to pay attention on сertain issues in game balance or bugs, they listen just what they want listen and skipping past huge amount of useful information, and tweaking things when nobody asked for. Seems they live in somewhat parallel universe. I don't know how to explain their behavior line."
-
"You know what, you're right, I discussed this with David Copperfield and he ensured me that magical fireballs are, in fact, more powerful than rapiers. Can't argue with realism now can we?" - you smoked?
-
"just because you can not make fireball stronger then rapier." - Hit the bull's eye.
-
Lack of balance leads to Dragon Age.Dragon Age makes me sad. Some time ago, when sabres was nerfed, i've seen one comment on some site: "Leave game alone ffc, you f*** autists, spare your time and money for making new games" - i like it. Briefly and crearly.
-
What about this, freakin' balance tweakers? Maybe, you should spent your time fixing bugs?

Framerate issues
Phenomenum replied to jgreeen's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
God bless you, man! And thank you - i've suffer from similar framerate issues about a year and now, finally, game runs silky smooth, even in crowded areas like Copperlane. It's nearly doubled my FPS. Thank you, again!
