Well, there could be damage migation too (recently played Awakening getting my UCE), actually DA:O already had this (defense and armor). Warriors would be pure armor (con; Armor penetration). Rogues/Wizards can't rely on that so they would have to go defense (lower values, but no offense against). They have barely any armor, but then again, that's the point of fighters, no? Of course fighters got both in DA:O which is why the damage had to be so hightened. Oh well, we'll see if the DA2 method works as should.

I was talking about Trials of the Luremaster. My bad...

You could also just give warriors less ridiculous high armor values (48+12 I had for my warrior at the end I believe), and improve armor penetration (the patch even did this). Both lowering this risk of warrior's overpowered armor, and not at all additionally damaging wizards and rogues (20 damage and 40 AP against 30 armor did 20 damage, not 30). I know; too much sense, eh? We'll see if this change actually fixes the issue, since from what I can see DLC and overpowered items (Return to Ostagar, Stone Prisoner and Soldier's Peak were just giving away OP items) were the only reason it was in DA:O in the first place, so I wouldn't be surprised if it sneaked back in...

Wait? Free DLC is ridicilous? What about Heart of Winter? UT Bonus packs? BG2 vendor(s)? Morrowind bonusses? It's PAYED DLC which is utterly ridicilous. Especially if you have to pay $7,- to get the same amount of content that was free before (see Oblivion-Morrowind). So, then what is the difference from the Armor penetration stat from DA:O? I was made to believe this was different (than again there have been so many explenations I kind of lost track). And if it works as you said (xx% neglected) do we get the inevitable situation of lvl 30 foes doing 80% neglectance, with 500% damage compared to their lower leveled foes, making mince-meat out of tanks since the only thing they were good for got neutrilised by this 'system'? Sure sounds like it to me, I surely hope this isn't the case. I guess it can't be as bad as Awakening throwing lvl 10 darkspawn to my lvl 35 party though (worst... endgame... ever). While this certainly sounds good I hope they did fix the levelscaling issues of DA:O and Origins then.

I can hardly complain about enemy AI in DA:O when similar games like all Infinity Engine/Aurora Engine ones had similar or even worse AI. Sure, if they had competent AI anywhere, and it got worse I can. But the last 'revolution in AI' was Oblivions horrifyable try, and I much rather have brain-dead NPC's than ones that actively try to do everything bad.

My mages mostly are deliberator builds (horror, weakening spells), not damaging. Still they attack. So maybe it's just 'attacked'...

They show up if you leave the Refugee Sector ON FOOT (so don't use the swoop).

Bring back the theme!

@ Enoch; Did we play the same DA:O? Cause despite the loading screens claiming it works as you said, enemies in my DA:O pretty much went after the guy that hit them first/was seen first. You know, the way AI worked in BG1 and 2 and IWD1 and 2 and PST etc.? So mostly my archer and mage thus, desperately avoiding my warriors (sure, I could use the powers you told me about. But why should I?) They did fall down pretty much every heavy battle :D. Or run around faster than the enemy, casting a spell once in a while when there was distance. The Revenants were pretty good. Although if you were too high leveled you just waltzed over them. Same with the dragons. I completed pretty much all side-quests I could, I am a completionist.

No, you can enter the EH perfectly fine when the Red Eclipse show up. Without the RE though, nope, you gotta wait till you get him back (you'll be dumped on NS after the Red Eclipse battle, if you HAD T3 it would place you on the Ebon Hawk).

Yup, no dual-wielding (DW gave far more damage than all other weapon combo's in DA:O), and the "leveling up weakens your armor" mechanic discussed in the previous topic because warriors had too much armor and that was giving troubles for BW apparently. Would there be ANY reason to play Warrior in DA2? And even if they were the same, the additional abilities of the rogue would make it the class of choice in DA2 then. Why play a boring warrior without boosts if you can play the warrior with stealing, lockpicking, dual wielding boosts AND powerful additional special abilities? Seriously? From my point-of-view dual wielding pawns two-handed and shield. Two-handed weapons are rare and sucky, 2-handed? Twice the boost. Same as KOTOR2. There are a few really good shields, but they are hardly worth it above some nice good armor, which all warriors can carry. Nightmare can (and pretty much is) be a cakewalk with a dual-wielding PC Warrior. No-one can harm you (even bosses have severe difficulty), yet everyone dies if you so much as stare at them. It's more the abilities with dual wielding than having 2 swords. The ones in DA:O from shield/dual were boring, dual wielding has quite a selecting of multiple attacks, which need you to be far more precise in when to trigger, aside from those boring "1 person attack".
-
So they nerfed the attack and defense of warriors, while adding cool tricks to rogues (who already could steal and open locks, which was pretty important in DA:O). Any reason at all to use warriors then?

Why are there haters?

*Raises hand* ... Because some people read reviews and base their opinions on that, incapable of playing games for themselves and judging then... -
Loaded up DX. Got gun. Holy cow... the guy is actually right. *Hax to Master level* Or not... *Spawn 5 acc. modifiers* Oh wait, with 100% acc it is. *Continues to murder every NSF on the island with single headshots with barely any aiming from far out of their AI range* Hmmm...
-
Actually, the only way the crosshairs don't intersect was if your arms where blown off. Maybe you should take care to heal them? Also, even with 10% acc (not that any unmodded weapon has as low), a laser dot gave the exact spot you aimed at, making even lvl 1 pistol super powerful, without aiming. You can find a laserdot on Liberty Island too. EDIT: @ Niten_Ryu. Played DX on Realistic? Cause even a pistol wielder can 1 shot you to death by making a headshot (snipers love this). I wouldn't call that savely making a firefight...
-
In DX even with the lowest skill you could make headshots, it just took longer for the reticle to close. But it would close as much as it would do on higher levels, just took a bit longer. So saying that you had to level up to hit means your an inpatient **** apparently. Or tried spraying with an assault rifle on lvl 1 from miles away instead of aiming first. In DX every weapon can be modified to be a deadly sniper rifle of death. From the starter pistol to even an assault rifle. And if you think DX combat was bad, you probably didn't get the point that you weren't SUPPOSED to be shooting like a CoD player. You had to use stealth, cover, and carefully aim your shots before the kill. The AI was also made to make this stealth possible. Hey, that sounds like Alpha Protocol? And true, they both use the exact same design (the assault rifle of AP is precisely how DX reticle works). So how can people one is better than the other? Ignorance... And how can people say the combat sucks in either games? Because they are too inept to notice that combat is punished in those games. Unlike CoD. Stealth is more powerful. And if you do want a firefight, you damn well be careful before starting one...
-
I liked DX's combat. And AP combat. And ME combat. Skill-based aiming? Sign me up... Too bad most people seem too stupid to work with it though. It makes i impossible to just kill everybody quickly (like possible in ME2 and such), making one-on-one's more intense, more sneaky. Imagine Splinter Cell when you could just shoot everybody to death ME2 style. Wouldn't that loose pretty much all of the game's purpose? And to whoever said AP should get CoD4 combat? Then it would be like ME2. And I really really really prefer AP over ME2.

I haven't got any other Gothics than 3, but it basically is Oblivion which you actually want to play instead of struggle to death. It still tires off eventually like Morrowind of course (little sooner obviously). So yeah, would advise to give it a run if it's cheap. 80% off at Telltale if you own BttF and got the code from the insider forum. Though with your name and avi, you might have knew that already... stock up!
-
They're doing a bad job of it then, because all I hear is... "Did you like DA1? For reason X? Well, then be glad we completely ripped it out. But be glad that we replaced it with the what you hated most in DA1, or other games."
-
I can see it work in combat dialogue (enemies aren't going to wait an hour for you to say something). Not quite when talking to your staff on the Normandy though.
-
Can't promise for $20 but I got it all for 20 euro's. Not on Steam obviously...
-
Pretty much. Although most of the campaigns were fan-made, 2 were by CD Projekt.
-
I must have missed that. Then again it was generally 0% even at Nightmare for me...
-
I am fine with getting it along with my gold edition. Not gonna shell out the cash to actually buy it seperate from the main game unless price/content ratio's get improved a lot...
