Sounds fun, where can I buy Waiting for Keyrock to play Shadwen? Is it a spiritual successor to Waiting for Godot?

Oh I'm not against romances globally, I'm only against romances between main PC and companions because those are either a massive waste of resources, woefully underdeveloped or forced. If companions are going to romance each other that's perfectly fine, but don't put huge amounts of work into something that only minor % of playerbase is ever going to see (or something that'll become mandatory for said companion because that's where most of his/her content is) Edit: As far as I'm concerned, that's the main difference between a mediocre and fantastic game writers: Mediocre ones might be able to do fantastic writing in and of itself, but fantastic game writer will write well and also learn to work with limits of the medium. Videogames are not books, even those which try to emulate them - and even the best writing ceases to be interesting the moment it stops being consistent. Like two characters who are deeply in love with each other interacting coldly and even cynically with each other 99% of the time, not because it fits the character, but because most dialogue has to be written for the "neutral" relationship.

It would make a world of difference for Linux users. It's ridiculous that the first major title sporting Vulcan API doesn't even run via Wine because Denuvo.

Eora World Map
Fenixp replied to Mraicor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There's not a lot you can really do with a map of an earth-like planet. There's going to be bits that are not water and then there are going to be bits which are water. Some bits will be of different color than other bits. ... That is all. Based on what we've seen in-game, Eora most likely is a spherical world as opposed to a cosmic turtle ridden by elephants or something along those lines, so there's jut not much space for creativity there (unless you want continents to look like little animals) -
Thanks for that. He's terrible at sticking to topic. So what I got from that is that he thinks 6 member parties are just a leftover from ye olden days driven by nostalgia and difficult to manage? *double sigh* I'd say he knows his own game and therefore realizes that 4 member parties are not only supported in Pillars, they're totally viable. And then us, Uber Humans with brains augmented by CPUs from supercomputers, geniuses of our time, quite simply, people who can control entirety of 6 characters without feeling confused, we can have fun too then!

I'd like to point out that party size has already been dropped down to 4 in Tyranny, basically with a rationalization that "6 member parties were confusing so we're using 4 member parties now." Source. I'm not happy about this decision. Not one bit. I do hope they'll keep 6 member parties for PoE 2 and 4 member parties remain specific to Tyranny.

Final battle and experience points
Fenixp replied to crutchy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It is correct, however, White March is designed to be played at about lvl 8 and if you decide to play it during end-game, you can get it scaled to about lvl 12 difficulty. In other words, don't worry about it, you'll max out at the end of White March anyway. -
The important distinction to make is whether all opponents using items magically get fine/exceptional items when you reach certain level or whether in more difficult areas, there are opponents only armed with fine/exceptional items. The former is level scaling, the latter is not. (not that I'm strictly opposed to level scaling, sometimes it's necessary as Obsidian promptly found out after introducing White March.)

To be fair, I don't think scripting a difficult AI would be that difficult - player's party is always massively outnumbered and just scripting the AI to always ignore everybody and target characters in order of their squishiness would be easy and brutally effective. Then again, game AI is not scripted to be as effective and dangerous as humanly possible, it's mainly programmed to be fun to fight against, and having varied algorithms to decide how they'll pick their targets does make fights somewhat more varied.

GTA 5's first person mode is pretty amazing, even tho fish eye effect is quite noticeable at times. I still can't help but be amazed at the amount of detail Rockstar put into this world. I mean, they even went and did this... The city and its countryside just looks amazing And there's all kinds of stuff you can find just as a part of imaginary virtual tourism Or... You know, you can just goof around, land a plane in the middle of Los Santos, play a golf for a while and then return slightly banged up plane back to your airport. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a GTA game this much. -
Well to be fair, red-ish henna hair dyes were used all the way back in Egypt, so I suppose it's not that of a long shot. My question would be what kind of product she uses to get her hair to be so spiky, that has to be magic, right? :-P

Ooh, I see. Yeah I totally agree with that. There's actually a decent amount of pretty amazing items in PoE, it's just none of them is a "I win now" button. There's a lot of nuance to PoE's underlying mechanics which'll kind of make you appreciate quirks of a lot of unique gear throughout the game. Yes, but I fell in love with PoE on my first playtrough, without the expansions even. It surpassed all my expectations and pretty much instantly surpassed all Infinity Engine games for me. As for the expansions, they're like distillation of the best content PoE has to offer, which... Probably isn't much for you, considering.

You sound extremely enthusiastic about the game.

Games you want that'll likely never exist

Of course they have done that. Oh wait a second... Hmm, I think I got confused. -
"People couldn't keep track of 6 characters, so we reduced party size to 4." *sigh*

Actually, those classes are relatively well balanced when used as they were intended to, and additionally, they give player a lot of agency over their game's difficulty which is something I always enjoyed. When you hit a difficulty spike you can't get past or want to take down challenge which is just a notch above your level, per rest classes ensure that all you need is to go trough minor inconvenience in order to achieve that. On the contrary, if you want the game to be more challenging, all you really need to do is to rest less. Naturally, classes without heavy reliance on per rest spells and abilities will give you a lot more balanced experience, but that's kind of the point - it's an RPG, don't expect it to serve you the game experience you want of it, compose your party and play in a way that'll suit you instead. It would be pretty difficult to implement and balance reasonably tho. I still think the best bet would be dropping per rest abilities entirely and only leave per rest spells bound to classes associated with them + add a priest-like support class without per-rest reliance (changing chanter around a bit perhaps?). Suddenly, you have a balanced experience both for people who do and do not enjoy per rest mechanics.

Seen Batman: The Killing Joke. The second short was pretty cool, shame about the first one. ... Wait, the two were related?

Awww, I was hoping Bad Rats got a new patch -
Actually, local newspapers reported he was in a video game addiction therapy, I kid you not. Anyway, let's not continue dragging politics into this - I'm just really, really enjoying GTA 5. I didn't really like a single GTA game since Vice City, but with 5, Rockstar massively outdid themselves and made me want to look forward to another GTA again.

I just shot like 50 people in GTA 5 and feel a lot more relaxed. I feel like there are people in the world who would benefit from having access to the game.

Oh cool, when a client contacts us about a bug in software, I'll totally tell him something along these lines. "We made the whole software for you that you paid for and you're obsessing over a minority like print button not working? Man, just write the information on a piece of paper, it'S all there on your screen! In fact, you can take a picture of your screen with your camera and print that! Uuu, and there's print screen button!"
