Super Pets?
Fenixp replied to Koth's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Which I got rather irritated by, considering that's instantly the only pet worth having equipped. But I decided that you can take my love, you can take my land, you can take me where I cannot stand. I do not mind, however, for you can not take the Tiny White Wurm from me. -
Well Bethesda bought the brand, it'd be a shame to let it spoil, wouldn't it? In most software, there are bits that are just nonsensical remains of the previous development, like a function that drives behavior of all characters in the game, including player, being called "FriendlyNPC" because nobody arsed to rename it. That's exactly what name is for Prey - Arkane were told to delete everything about the Prey they were given, so they opted to make a System Shock, but forgot to change the name.

To be fair, saying that two Dishonored games added together are a little bit better than a game considered to be among the very best ever created in the genre is saying they're pretty damn good games, especially considering Dishonored 1+2 are mostly identical :-P Anyway, Thief games never really grew on me all that much. Disliked the focus on sound and light, both massively overstated to show the engine off. Level design was fantastic tho. So... Yeah, for me, System Shock is where Arkane's mettle really gets tested. But if anyone, it's them who can make it work - after all, a whole bunch of former Looking Glass works for Arkane now.
-
There were two Thief games. Shame no Thief game came out after 2.
-
No, just older. They're doing this chronologically see, starting with Thief, moving on to System Shock 2 and then going on to Deus Ex. Arkane understands they can't begin to match the highs of System Shock 1 so they skipped it.
-
At this point, Prey by Arkane is just another game called 'Prey', like there's a bunch of games called ... ... The same ... Name ... That I'm sure exist but I can't remember any.

Problem with FTL's approach isn't that you rarely win, that's perfectly fine in a rogue-like-lite-like-liek-kek. Problem with FTL is that it's reasonably easy unless RNG screws you over big time and then it suddenly gets super-hard during the boss fight. I'd estimate that good 50% of my FTL playthroughs ended at the final boss fight (a bit less when I was messing around as opposed to being efficient), which is kinda the problem - I'd like to lose because the difficulty would ramp up progressively until I hit the final boss fight which would lead to a lot more even distribution of losses as opposed to the game going "Lol, you got this far, die now."

Nah, Prey is clearly System Shock. Arkane's still building their way towards a Deus Ex.

The last stretch goal for Sunless Skies is ... "Your Inconvenient Aunt". If people keep pledging, that's what we'll get. I love Failbetter games.

Diablo 2 is one of the best action RPGs I have ever played, but not one of the best RPGs in general.

Aww, if screenshots taught me anything, it's that HoonDing is just an old romantic softie. -
Back from second visit to the vet, apparently, rattie managed to cough out most of the fluid in its lungs and should be better now - as long as he starts eating properly again. And if the disease doesn't prove to be resistant to antibiotics.
-
I always wished there was more game in that ... Well, game - the first one at least (still got to try the second one.) Like there's the whole survival metagame which essentially boils down to 'Choose your own adventure' book moreso than anything. Sure, you travel and can run out of resources, but... You're never really informed of any estimates of how many resources you'll likely need to arrive to a destination and while you do sometimes get alternative destinations, this is extremely rare as opposed to being a core part of metagame (which it certainly should be.) That said, music is amazing, aesthetics are amazing and the story was strong enough to carry the game for me. But the experience is certainly very limited.
-
When going for clean hands run, I found sneaking around the guards as opposed to taking them out more efficient anyway
-
Whelp, been at the vet with a rattie whose state was steadily deteriorating past the last week or so. She told us it looks like his organism is completely exhausted due to infection he's been diagnosed with (infections spread really fast in rats), pumped him with strongest antibiotics she can give to a rat and said that if he doesn't get better until the evening, he probably won't get better at all. Cross your fingers.

Yea I finished all of the tutorials. I'm doing pretty good on the battlefield, I just have to figure the metagame out. And yes, I noticed the thing about dem skills :-P Incidentally, I won the mission with daggering archers.
-
So, Mordheim... - I forgot to equip my dudes before a battle so two of my archers came in armed with daggers. Yay! - I misread number next to a skill and suddenly, all of my money was gone - I lost a mission because I had no idea what is it that I was doing Good news is that I somewhat learned the ropes, so it's time to start a new Warband, this time properly.

melkathi... You're not very good at the whole 'Chaos Lording' thing. -
7 takes clear cues from Silent Hill as well as Outlast and Alien Isolation when it comes to building atmosphere. It really is quite tense the first 7 hours or so. It also manages to be cheesy, and does so with confidence.

Oh, I see. Now I wonder where did both draw from... Well, stuff like Alone in the Dark comes to mind I 'spose. I didn't enjoy the original Relevations a lot. The 3 RE games I have really enjoyed thus far was 1, 4 and 7. I played a good deal of 5 and thought it was 'eh', Relevations and though it was okay. As for 7, it's the most old-school modern RE game imaginable (hey, somebody figured out that first person controls are basically tank controls in first person), but... I kinda keep hammering that point over and over. The biggest difference is that 7 is a lot spoopier than the other ones, it's probably the only RE game that I'd find really scary.

Of course not, that would be too functional.
