I quite literally fell asleep after 30 minutes of ME: Andromeda. Say what you will about ME, but this is how you start a space opera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a27IdajHUU That's ... Actually cinematic, masterfully synchronized music, fantastic voice acting and great pacing. Andromeda has... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p_wFVfDxJQ Well, it has a gruff narrator. Idunno. Is it just nostalgia speaking?

Volo made a post that can be interpreted as positive. Okay, which one of you lot broke Volo again? -
So what you wanted to say is that you really liked Sagani too. Great minds work alike.

To be fair, too many trailers are more indicative of PR department being bored than quality of the game

I just woke up. I have a right - no, an obligation - to be grumpy :-P

That's actually what Relic programmers came up with in 2003. Homeworld: Remastered is based on HW2 engine, which is where most of its issues came from. Since the release of the remaster, version 2.0 came out, fixing ballistics (completely) and formations (mostly - large vessels still tend to break out of formations in prolonged fights, favoring getting in range of their weapons to sticking to a formation) - so what Gearbox programmers came up with in 2016 is significantly different. Here are complete patch notes. It's more about majority of actually good developers doing jobs with sane hours and good pay.

True, the song was pretty funny. 'sides, that's not how you do songs for games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InnVzbRK_c4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXD3nm5UVzI

Right? -
This would suggest that the launch was successful. Good.

For reaching a KS social goal for Sunless Skies, this is what appeared in Fallen London: Judgemental Hat

Yeah, even at 15, we did have at least basic critical thinking. I suppose it could also be caused by mainstream gaming media at the time being a wee bit more honest - reading "It looks cool, but it could also be full of ****" certainly helped us see matters a bit more objectively as opposed to "15 reasons why No Man's Sky will be the bestest game evah" The sad thing is that with NMS, it wasn't just inexperienced kids swept up in the hype.

When a construction project manager approaches you and tells you that he'll build something wonderful that's never been built before, answers "Oh just two okay houses" when asked about what his previous construction experience was and then replies with "Sure, why not!" when asked on details on how exactly does he plan to do that and what will this building contain, you don't need a lot of construction experience to tell that he's full of ****. It still astounds me that the opposite applies to videogames.

You actually nailed what bothers me a bit, Eumaios: When everything's 'out of the ordinary', nothing is. You need some sort of baseline 'normality' to compare the weirdness against, and when everything's weird and every other NPC is extraordinary, it all becomes... A bit less intriguing. But yeah, I do think that while the overarching storyline is not as strong as in PS: T, dialogue writing is slightly better than it was in Planescape. But that's mostly because I'm not a huge fan of Avellone's wordiness (funny coming from a guy who loved Pillars of Eternity...)

Eh, Shadow of Mordor got quite samey reasonably quickly, I don't think we necessarily need its copy in the sequel. Ally system could be fun.

Coffee I was just drinking joined my screen and parts of my keyboard in an a thoughtful discussion on how electronics don't mesh well with conductive liquids. Thank you, melkathi. Thank you very much. -
Considering what I enjoy the most about the game is running about and exploring and what I enjoy the least are Crisies (which still could be called encounters :-P), I'd not complain at all about the latter being cut entirely. I'm sure there's a better way to abstract dangerous situations that don't contain people trying to murder you.

Yah, that's how I figured I'd do it.

I just arrived into an area filled with red floating enemies. I ended up losing combat with them. I think I know how could I win, but I just can't be assed to keep waiting for their turns for half a century again. I complained about animation speed in Mordheim, but Mordheim's animation speed is a gaming Valhalla when compared to this.

So you can get such exciting upgrades for your Mak... Eh, Nomad as better shields, better boost or better armor. These cost as much as 120 elfroot. This is fantastic.

How's the solo experience in TES: Online? And have you liked any other MMOs, Hurlshot?

Yeah, it's obvious Pillars of Eternity had been developed by a highly experienced team that already works well together. You can say what you want about the game, but even on release it was already a highly polished title, if not technically competent. Numenera in comparison feels a lot more amateurish. The music feels... Unremarkable. Which is a huge shame, especially seeing what Justin Bell achieved with extremely limited budget of Pillars of Eternity.
