Let's be honest, though, if you were God why wouldn't you make giant lizards?

Well that confirms my suspicions about Frostbite. But basically it all boils down to massive mismanagement... Agreed. BioWare has been working with Frostbite for six years or more. I think sins of mismanagement far out weigh the sins of the engine. The fact that Mac 'synthetic-vs-organics' Walters is spoken of by some of the devs as being the guy to right the ship tells me just how dead in the water MEA was.

Nowhere in any of those high concepts detailed in the article is there a description of anything that sounds like a Mass Effect tittle. I see constant downsizing of what was originally supposed to be an exploration game with who-knows-what plot goal.

The sells weren't bad for an rpg, but nowhere near what they were aiming for. More importantly, two out of the four titles in the franchise have been poorly received. That might be enough for EA to put an end to it.

^ yuck. The locomotion clearly wasn't designed with first person in mind.

Both RTwP and ATB can clunky substitutes for turn style combat.

Reading the Other Lands second book in the Acacia trilogy. Starting to feel reading them back to back wasn't a great idea because some of the author's writing quirks are beginning to irk me. Think I'll take a break and come back to it when I'm in a better mindset for it.

Clearly photo shopped, but still hilariously on point.

I don't believe either Brian Herbert or Christopher Tolkien have ever written a book on their own. Both act as 'creative leads', to borrow a gaming development phrase, rather than writers. I imagine it's hard to find a decent author who won't try to take over the project and make it their own.

@Guard Dog: I understand perfectly why the estate would want to add to the original creator's IP. It's only been in the last few decades that hitting the creative jackpot and can make a fortune in a single lifetime has become possible. Traditionally, an IP was a super long term investment so adding new titles after the author dies in like feeding the trust fund. This sounds derogatory but it makes perfect sense if you look at it from the perspective of a family who inherited little more from the author than the IP.

I'm going to rock the boat a bit here, but I actually like MMOs. The problem MEA's knickknacky quests is that many of them require you to travel in between multiple zones to complete the quest. DAI's knicknacky quests were largely contained within the zone in which it was found.

I'd forgotten about the bat credit card. Could've happily lived the rest of my life without a reminder.

Did they just cut the story from the the Silmarillion or is there unreleased material there? Yes, it was originally from the Silmarillion. Good eye.

Just finished reading Acacia (book one). by David Anothony Durham. Not usually my cup of tea, but it makes for a pretty good epic fantasy especially if you like A Song of Fire and Ice (which I don't).

My complaint about Farcry 5 is that it doesn't look like you can create your own crazy cult. That could've been Tyranny levels of awesome.

the_dog_days goes through Witcher school training would make the best training montage.

My sister has three kids. We work in the same area and a banker who knew us both once asked me if I knew that lady with 'all them kids'. After asking her for a physical description, I figured out she was talking about my sister. Three kids isn't a lot, but I thought it was hilarious. So thanks for this meme, rjshae. 'cause I just sent it to her and said it was curtesy of the banker.

I'm hoping this means that Capcom is either going to localize the DD MMO or there's a sequel in the works.

I gave into temptation a month ago, just been holding off playing for the full release. You have been doing missions in Star Crawlers all night. Or at least the engineer version of you on the team in my game. That moment you find out what you were actually doing when you thought you were asleep.

^ Looks like an origin story cliche with the wise mentor using the magical mcguffin to pass on his supper powers.

Hatred of subtitles perhaps. Not entirely sure if you're serious, but Zoraptor was joking; the Hexer sucked. Big time.
