  1. Now imagine solo with all god challenges activated. It's a lot easier if you know the "tricks" with each Megaboss. Also all kinds of cheese make it a lot easier obviously. Like: pausing and switching from Lethandria's Devotion to another weapon setup... and then back and forth and back and forth: you will heal from the Pale Light with every switch even during pause - so after several switches your party is healed up again. Costs nothing... Or using Strand of Favor (unequip/equpi/unequip etc.) to prolong stuff like Blade Cascade until the end of the world as we know it. Or using the good old Gouging Strike or Brand Enemy or Lover's Embrace. Using Salvation of Time + Barring Death's Door + Brilliant or Wall of Draining + Brilliant (or Blood Sacrifice). All that duration-bending stuff. If you want to do it "rightly" without too much cheese then refreshing resources that are not tied to anything like dealing/receiving damage are a BIG plus. For example Psion and Chanter do get resources just from waiting which is very good in those tough boss fights. Especially Psion with Ancient Memory is a great thing to have because he can turn others into resource refreshers, too. If you have passive healing (e.g. from a Herald with Exalted Endurance + Ancient Memory and some regeneration gear) then also a Bloodmage has kind of unlimited resources - as does a traditional Monk (I mean non-Shattered Pillar and -Forbidden Fist). A Paladin with Divine Retribution + a Chanter (preferably Beckoner or Troubadour) with summons (preferably Ancient Brittle Bones + Many Lives Pass by) will also have unlimited Zeal because Divine Retribution grants +2 Zeal for every killed summon - and those die really quickly against most megabosses. It's also all doable with the official companions though. It's just a real drag. Imo Megabosses are not worth the hassle at all.
  2. Depends on your class. But in general sneaking past them should always work: Sparkcrackers or other noisy abilities that can be cast on the ground and out of stealth - like Dazzling Lights for example - to lure the enemies away from the path you wish to take and then sneak past them. If you imported items you can also use Bounding Boots to jump over their heads. If you pause in a clever way you can cancel the leap in mid-air. You will not daze od trigger any effect really but also you won't use up the charge of the boots - and make no noise - but still land at the target location. After finding Oderisi and conversing with Eothas you usually gain a level - that often makes a lot of difference in those early fights so maybe you can take them on on the way back.
  3. Then it's quite tricky to lower enemies' fortitude with Body Blows and then cast a spell that targets fortitude so you profit from the lower defense yourself?
  4. How long does stuff like Body Blows (modal from Morning Star) last in TB mode with decent INT?
  5. Indeed Speaking of Rymrgand, Berath etc.: It would have been a great Blessing of Berath if you could unlock unique companion subclasses such as Harvester of Gaun, Priest of Rymrgand etc. as playable class.
  6. Light of Eothas and Symbol of Eothas are good imo. The +15 to all defenses of the Symbol stacks with individual active defense buffs like Mirrored Image and so on. And the Light has 0.5 casting time. Also the Eothasian Incarnate was quite good because it's 3 dawnstar summons with quite good stats who cast several priest spells, including PL8+ spells (for example Symbol of Eothas). Unfortunately one of the summons is always stuck at casting and never finishes - but it can move and soak damage. If Priest of Eothas had a Spiritual Morning Star instead of a flail it would be my no.1 pick.
  7. That is not correct. Frozen vegetables go into the freezer right after the harvest. When defrosted they contain more vitamins and other nutrients than "fresh" vegetables you buy at the grocery store. Because those are usually not very fresh due to transport and storage time. This doesn't apply to vegetables you buy directly from the farm store (depends how long the vegetables lay there of course). https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/fresh-or-frozen-produce-the-health-benefit-is-all-in-the-mix Also applies to fish and meat mostly. Freezing food leads to less waste, too. However it leads to more energy consumption. One thing that does suffer and which makes frozen vegetables less appealing to me is the altered texture - and sometimes also taste. Some products such as potatoes can't be frozen without making them unbearable - potatoes already start to taste bad under 4°C. That and the increased energy consumption are the reasons why I usually buy fresh products. But if I want to make stew or something like that then frozen stuff is totally fine because it's all mushy afterwards anyway. I also freeze products I grow myself like berries or herbs for example. Some I can dry (like rosemary). I'm the one who cooks in my family and I almost never have to throw away food. Not even the stuff we can't eat gets thrown away: Peels and stems, skin and bone etc. go to the rabbits and the chicken. Rabbits are the best speed composters I know. Two of them is enough to turn all of our household's vegetable/fruit waste into high quality fertilizer. Chicken just eat almost everything - even coffee grounds and tea leaves. What doesn't get eaten by the animals (which is very litte) goes onto the heap of compost. Mostly that consists of cut grass, citrus peels and leaves though.
  8. It depends. Against some Megabosses it doesn't work (or not very well): The big Ooze will die and then split - then merge again and nothing is won. You must prevent the merge which is tricky with a squishy stealth char. I'm sure it's doable - just not with the simple "hit, run and hide" approach. Kiting and using crossbow for interrupts while oozes bleed might work...? It's difficult to initially hit Belranga from stealth because her defenses are so high without killing a few spiderlngs first (but then no stealth). That's why Brand Enemy is so good against certain bosses: it's an auto-hit. Iirc Dorudugan will die without problems, just takes forever (don't put Brand Enemy on him ;)). Sigilmaster might be a problem because you not only have to kill her but also the sigils, sigils first. Don't know if encounter will stop if you destroyed a sigil and then retreat. Maybe not? Gouging Strike is expensive... But iirc there are no unlimited heals involved so it should still be possible with Gouging Strike alone. Then some enemies have unlimited healing capabilities that can counter the DoT. For example some ogres (like Torkar of the Firebrand crew) have an unlimited supply of potions that give them the Robust inspiration. It can outheal True Love's Kiss + Gouging Strike. Then the process lasts forever and you have to do something to prevent him from drinking the potions - like kite him so he wants to follw instead of standing around and drinking potions. I solve that by using an Assassin/Paladin with Brand Enemy to stack True Love's Kiss + Gouging Strike + Brand Enemy which is enough to outperform the healing. If you are not too underleveled you can also use some supporting DoTs (Ring the Bell, Toxic Strike) to quicken the process. It's risky but can really speed things up. Just keep enough Guile for one final Smoke Veil. Or use an emergency potion. Shadowng Beyond (e.g. from items like Poignard) doesn't work because it immediately breaks on DoT tricks. Smoke Veil doesn't. Assassin/Bleak Walker is my preferred combo for this (admittedly lame) approach because you not only have good alpha strikes with the arquebus and FoD but also Brand Enemy which is very cheap, is an auto-hit and has no recovery which lets you put it on multiple enemies in a very short time, then vanish and let them all die. If anybody asks why I am doing this if I think it's lame: It's also fun sometimes because the playstyle is so different. Deadfire turns into a sneaking game. I build a very squishy Assassin on purpose and am often one-two-shotted when I mess up my timings etc. Another reason isthat with such a character I can get to unique gear very, very early in the game without using cheats. And that allows me to export/import the character with the good gear into an uncheated game. That then allows me to build a character around a special item (or specific set of items) which otherwise would come too late to be worthwhile. E.g. Ngati's Tusk is a nice pike for a Barb but comes so late so I will import it in order to get it earlier. It's not OP compared to some other stuff you can get early so it doesn't feel too cheesy.
  9. 1. Best pet: totally depends on your character build. But for melee dps characters usually Abraham is very good. 2. Don't think there is "the best" dual wieldng weapon setup - but for an Assassin the dagger "Lover's Embrace" can be very good because it allows you to kill very overleveled enemies with its neverending bleeding effect. It stacks with the Rogue's Gouging Strike which also never ends. You can sneak in, use Gouging Strike with Lover's Embrace, maybe follow up with a Barbaric Smash and then use Smoke Veil to vanish and retreat out of sight - then and let the target bleed to death. That way you can win encounters that otherwise would be too difficult for you. You can combine this with the dagger Pukestabber in the offhand - it's a very good dagger, too. But there's countless other good weapon setups. For example Rust's Poignard is great, also the flail Ball & Chain, the sabre Grave Calling, the flail Sun & Moon and so on. I have a Discord account but I'm almost never there, sorry. You can reach me here - I don't mind answering public questions and maybe other forum users are interested as well - but you can also write a private message (top right menu besides the bell notification icon). You can also reach me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/boeroer
  10. Yes, stacking works differnently in Deadfire. Gnerally speaking all passive item buffs (+x to y all the time - and so on) and all other passives (right side of the ability "tree") will stack with everything. Active effects (left side of the ability tree, also most often effects that have a limited duration) will not stack. So for example Iron Skin (Wizard active ability/spell) will not stack with Gilded Enmity (Goldpact Knight active ability). But Stoic Steel (Paladin passive ability) will stack with everything. Serafen's cipher subclass isn't very attractive but you can still build a good fortitude-debuffing Witch out of him. Also he brings the AoE blunderbuss "Hand Mortar" and you can get a second AoE blunderbuss from his companion quest: "Fire in the Hole". Both are very unique and awesome weapons. My favorite weapons even.
  11. Little trick: if you took the Bounding Boots from Benweth you can reach most (if not all) chests/containters stealthed without having to use Sparkcrackers.
  12. I don't think you need any stealth for stealing the grimoire. I'm not even sure you need mechnics(?).
  13. My wife had an Indian colleague when she studied in France - he was completely unaware that he shouldn't show the Swastika or else get in trouble. At first he didn't even want to comply because he only new the symbol as one for rising sun/hope etc. After a short history lesson he understood. Since he was/is a well educated lad I guess India in general doesn't really bother. Japan even removing mirrored swastikas is understandable because they were (kind of) allied with the Nazis.
  14. If you mean the Swastika, that's mostly from India. To be more precise: it's mostly used in Hinduism but also Jainism and Buddhism. It's still widely used in India today. The symbol that the Japanese use(d) on maps to mark positions of temples is not a Swastika - because it's mirrored. Of course here in Germany wanna-be Nazis even get that wrong so...
  15. We had the same discussion with Google in Germany/Europe which lead to the "Leistungsschutzrecht" - basically a law that's supposed to protect the effort that was put into researching and, writing and publishing articles and such. It got canceled by the EU in its current form but the discussion is not over yet. Something will come out of it. Afaik Google never threatened to leave Germany or the EU - would be like shooting oneself in the foot I guess.
  16. "Zykon B was used as a delousing agent - thus it can't be deadly unless you get it all over yourself". Perfect reasoning. Maybe somebody should put that weak excuse for a human being into a chamber with Zyklon B and check if what he said is true - just to demonstrate how "harmless" it is of course. Along with the Hawaiian GOP member who share the evil nonsense of such scumbags. For science! By the way: concentration camp prisoners were also mass murdered with engine exhaust gas. Which - as we all know - is used as a demousing agent and is mostly harmless unless you get it all over yourself. Jeez I have to go puke now.
  17. RFID injections are possible. They just don't make sense. Like most conspiracy theories. So that fits guess. Yeah 5G... what about chemtrails? Poor things - all alone and forgotten...
  18. I once worked on a RFID project for navigating in big gas-fired power plants. You need big coils to induce enough power into the passive chip in order for it so send its number (and that's all an RFID does) with enough range. That range was about 1 meter. You can use active RFIDs which have a longer range - but those would require a battery. The range is also determined by the size of the RFID antenna. If you look at cheap RFID stickers in shops you'll see that "printed" spiral. That's quite visible and yet the range is very short. The coils you sometimes see at both sides of shop doors that will sound an alarm if you try to carry a tagged item outside: those coils will induce power into the passive RFID so it can send its number. If that number isn't cleared the alarm will sound. That's why pets' subcutaneous RFID can only be activated by a rel. big coil that you hold right over the chip. The needle used for chipping pets is huge compared to a needle you do vaccinations with. Those RFIDs are rel. big as well. Try to inject something like that into human muscle tissue... ouch. Subcutaneous chips wouldn't be good because you would be able to see and feel it. I don't believe there is any passive RFID that can be activated and read by cell phone towers. But that project was some time ago... so maybe some cool new RFID tech was invented that I don't know about. But even if that would be possible: you'd only get a number. All that effort to just get a number and maybe build some movement profile with it? And yes, exactly: Nowadays everybody has something like a cell phone, tablet, smartwatch etc. which is sending a ton of information via cell phone towers and emits a lot of information via Wifi and Bluetooth for example even if you are not connected to anything. In that project we could create a unique fingerprint and movement profile that was accurate to the meter just by analyzing some emitted cell phone signals - and that was 10 years ago or so. Seamless surveillance is already possible - why would anybody go through great lengths in order to plant a dumb RFID when everybody is already wearing the perfect bugging device with them already - voluntarily? If pets could carry smartphones... I mean these people fearing they might be getting tagged with RFID-vaccines are the same that do selfies in Nancy Pelosi's office and putting them online...
  19. A bit? According to my brother-in-law who holds a PhD in nanotechnology (and works at Robert Bosch GmbH) we are still far, far away from that - at least the monitoring and repairing part.
  20. It also depends on your PoE story. It only occurs if you did some special things with Durgan's Battery I believe.
