  1. I main monk and one thing I always wanted was my monk's unarmed attacks to have different animations than other classes unarmed attacks. Some more martial arts style attack animations would be a huge thing for making my monk really feel like a monk. Might be a great thing to include in a stretch goal.
  2. My level 16 characters are super powerful, with tons of strong abilities. To take that as a baseline and still allow meaningful progression would be quite the design feat. I'm totally fine with starting at level 1 again. I love getting new levels, experimenting with new builds, and measuring my progress. EDIT: A word
  3. I reached out to staff fairly early and they confirmed DRM free version on GOG.com. I think they should push this aspect a little bit more. I don't think we're quite as small as the "never nude" community but there are a contingent of us who are very opposed to DRM to the point that is impacts our decision to buy or back even games we love, like Pillars. I pledged as soon as I was told it would be available DRM free on GOG.com.
  4. A godhammer to the head, which is something more akin to a contained nuclear blast than a blow from a hammer. Just ask the dozen. Not the baker's dozens, with their half-baked ideas on animancy, but the original twelve who felt it's power first hand.
  5. Are there patch notes I can read? EDIT: I see it will be released shortly. I assume here on the forums?
  6. There is 100% no reason to wait, the game is as polished and feature complete as it will ever be. From here on out the only patches will be minor bug fixes.
  7. I do hope it comes out good. Time will tell.
  8. ...really made my day. I just imagined your monk running around with some prostitutes on his back and shoulders. Lots of opportunities for unique and fun tactics and strategies in this game. I have the White March expansions and I love how the quests are more well rounded out now, it is fun to read the stories and imagine my characters out in the world doing these things, as well some of the items are quite fun. My monk is a female and very into experiencing what the world has to offer, both the pleasure and the pain, so prostitutes are part of the deal. Of course perhaps if she were to lug one on her shoulders she could attack with an extra poison attack, "The harlot's pain" which spreads weakness in retaliation to any piercing attacks. I have noticed a weird bug now, I summoned a delegman during the battle and now on random maps that delegman's corpse is hanging around.
  9. Honestly I thought I would die at least once so I just wanted to see what the fight was like and plan for it on the second attempt but then, mostly due to hold beasts, I survived the first time. I hadn't used camping bonuses either, just the +3 int keep resting bonus and +2 might +2 constitution from one of the prostitutes on my monk. Oh, and that the small shield from the treasure room stacks with the palladin's buckler that gives +5 defenses, so as of right now my whole party has +10 defenses from those two items. Pretty neat.
  10. I just killed the Adra Dragon a few minutes ago for the first time. I put off completing my early play throughs to wait for the White March and 2.0/3.0 patches which is why I'm only now killing the Adra Dragon. This was on Hard difficulty. Anyway, the fight was actually a lot of fun. I was worried I would party wipe and have to try multiple times but actually it wasn't too bad of a fight. I play with only the story companions and they were a mix of level 12 and 13. I had a pretty random party composition, as I like to swap out different characters periodically. My party was as follows: PC Monk, Edér, Sagani, Pallegina, Devil of Caroc, and Hiravias. The dragon's fear aura is a pain because of the debuffs and because I didn't bring a priest I was very limited to deal with it, basically only Pallegina's two uses of liberating exhortation. Furthermore the dragon can blind you, that was again something I couldn't really combat. The fight opened up terrible, literally everyone got hit with a prone, took a ton of damage, and Itumaak died. Then all the adragans and Xurips rushed over. The thing that saved this fight for me was Hiravias and the "hold beasts" spell, which paralyzed that dragon for 10 seconds a pop and only missed once. I definitely would have lost the fight otherwise. All in all a great fight, lots of fun and no one went down even once besides Itumaak. The treasure room at the end certainly had quite a few goodies in it too. Can't wait to do the other dragons now.
  11. Welp I hope it works out for the Southpark guys but not a lot of developers are on the level of Obsidian. If I'm really honest it actually puts me off the sequel a little bit.
  12. I just picked up dichotomous soul and have been unimpressed. Perhaps if the copies lasted a little longer but right now it feels like those wounds are better spent elsewhere. Good thing we can resepc now.
  13. T'is all good and well, but the current game is UNPLAYABLE, at least make a hot fix, and after continue with mayor patch. Its really stupid that you can not play this game, after you bought it. How is it unplayable?
  14. I've already noticed a lot of suppression issues where the stronger bonus gets suppressed not the weaker one. It seems to be with newer items and abilities but I couldn't say for sure. Consecrated ground from Shod-in-faith is suppressed by veteran's recovery even though the healing is much stronger from consecrated ground, at least as effected by the person wearing it in my game.
  15. When my PC monk gets hit by the consecrated ground effect from shod-in-faith it trigger the 10% chance to cast eyestrike on Elryn's jacket. http://i.imgur.com/hk4ZHvv.jpg The combat log shows this. I can't believe that is working as intended. Perhaps this should get it's own post but also when I use the binding rope and an enemy gets hit with it's stuck effect the combat log shows *effect error*. Thanks for your attention.
  16. I have found that if you hover over the icons to the right of the character portrait you will get a truncated description of the various buffs and debuffs that can affect your character. There does not seem to be a way to pull up a full description like you might for a spell or ability. It's good enough for me.
  17. I have a few characters who have the Veteran's Recovery talent, such as my monk and rogue. I also have the sandals which grant consecrated ground when critically hit. When I check my character sheets I see that consecrated ground, despite giving the stronger healing by a good margin, is being suppressed by the relatively anemic healing provided by veteran's recovery. I know typically the weaker bonus gets suppressed, is there a way for this to be fixed?
  18. This is one thing that has been driving me crazy. I can hover over the character portraits and see a list of debuffs, like "body attunement" when fighting Vithrack, but I can't then hover over or click on those debuffs to pull up a description of them and what they do. Is there a way to do that which I am simply missing?
  19. When a character is hit while wearing the belt of binding, inflicting the stuck status, in the combat log it shows "Character affects enemy with *Effect Error*. (Stuck for basexint seconds)" So everything looks fine and appears to work fine, simply *Effect Error* should be binding, or something like that. I've attacked a screen shot. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjiy27dnth10id9/effect%20error%20detailed.png?dl=0
  20. That is cool, I like to see people really dig into the role play aspect of these games. If there were to be an arena with attendant quest lines I would definitely want to see freedom for character expression in it.
  21. Do you know if this will retroactively fix the issue? I've just realized this happens with any Cad Nua defense after that event, so I had to defend against a second attack and now the crowd is back. Thanks.
  22. I'm a little surprised there are so many no votes. This is all speculation but I don't think we really need to worry about an arena "taking resources away" from Pillars 2, as I imagine there will not only be a kickstarter but some of the money that was made on the first game will go into the second. Especially if it is made a stretch goal at 3million or more. The way I would love to see the arena done, if we get one, is integrated into the world. There are definitely places it fits lore wise if you've read any of the extended lore stuff. I would love to see it be viewed the same way a major sport would be, important to the town it is in because it generates a lot of revenue but also because people root for local teams and super star fighters. I would want multiple quest lines associated with it. You perhaps could overhear someone talking about the latest fight and then look for more info. Find out where it is and go there, pay a small amount of pands and watch a match. There you learn a little about the lore and the rules. There could be betting on matches, there could be quests involving fixed matches, rooting out corruption, helping with problems the people running the arena are having or problems particular fighters or teams are having. Of course ultimately you would want to enter the tournament with your party and advance. There would be rewards along the way, from small amounts of pands, potions, and low level gear in the early fights, all the way to a large cash award and some unique gear for the top level fights. After the quest lines are done you can always come back for random battles. Perhaps you could pick the general type of enemies you will fight, the terrain you will fight in, if there are traps or hazards, etc. It would give players something to do in the game even after beating the main story. Personally I really enjoy the combat system. The role playing and characters and narrative are great too, but I would love to be able to just jump in and get some combat in at times. Whether or not we end up getting an arena in Pillars 2 I just hope we get word soon about when the Kickstarter will be and all those details. Thanks for all the replies!
  23. This still happens, running 3.01 and Durance has a permament "Graze - 0.5x raw damage" now. It happened in a REALLY buggy fight, where the new soulbound wand was dominating enemies, several of my party, including Durance, became confused and turned red, and that raw damage was likely inflicted by the souldbound wand. Some really weird ****.
  24. I sometimes find myself just wanting to fight using the combat system and my characters without progressing quests or clearing areas. For me the combat is at least half the draw of this game, with everything that ties into it of course, leveling, items, etc. I've really found myself wishing for a combat arena, either in the game or as a companion module. It would hopefully feature a little bit of procedural generation, so you'd never quite know which enemies and environments you'd be facing. If it was integrated with the main game there could be quest line associated with it that includes betting, match fixing, tournaments and prizes, stuff like that. I know it is probably too late for this feature to end up in Pillars of Eternity but hopefully it can end up in Pillars 2. In fact, assuming there is a Kickstarter for PoE 2 (coming soon? I hope?) where the keep was a stretch goal for PoE the area could be the stretch goal for PoE 2. What do you guys think?
