  1. Fighter is a solid class. One of my favourites in POE2. It's a good all-around class with no weaknesses that multiclass quite good with almost every other class. It requires no micromanagement and has good survivability and decent dps. Single class is also strong because medium to late game skills are very good. It's a simple class to play.
  2. Insulting other forum user for his opinion of a class should make you recapacitate about who is really the idiot.
  3. Marauder is OP. Early game is difficult because you don't have all the shiny stuff you get later but with -50% recovery + dual wield + frenzy + lots of crits you deal an absurd amount of damage. I got bored with a marauder gameplay where I had Eder as a swashbuckler in a similar way. Eder was 2nd rank of dmg dealing with 15k done. My character had 115k. I had Modwyr + whatever you want in your second hand. Don't pick one stand alone. It's a trap for this build.
  4. Serafen is another useless average joe character with horrible stats for both Cipher and Barbarian. As soon as I complete his main quest he's out of my party.
  5. The old & classical problem (since POE1) of every druid build that intends to do damage on POTD with spells that target fortitude. Cipher also suffer from this. The same approach to any kind of build that intends to use brute force as a barbarian. - Debuffs of FT that targets FT: "Useful" against enemies with low to average fort. It's good to stack afflictions but it's not strictly necessary. I used it when I have spells to spare and you want to guarantee some crits with spells like plague of insects or infestation of maggots. Chanter Long's night is of this kind and it's quite useless when trying to use it against very high FT mobs. - Debuffs of FT that targets WL. Arkemir Dazzling lights (-5 Mig), Interdiction, Ryngrim's terror, Secret Horrors. So you need a wizard and/or a cipher in your party if you want to mass debuff FT. Even with a wizard/cipher is not worth it in terms of resources/casting time because you can simply attack WIL (charms, frighten/terrify). My conclusion is that is a waste of time trying to lower FT. Just kill this kind of mobs in melee or neutralize through WL. The pity is that there are awesome spells that are hard to land properly because most of the mobs have high FT.
  6. It seems that AOE radius modified by INT is not showed when using scrolls or explosives. The point is that enemies outside of the displayed AOE can be affected by the radius.
  7. In the end, you want both deflection and DMG reduction. I was playing around (failing by the way) trying your approach with a marauder. But it didn't work because he was receiving a disgusting amount of crits. Which inevitably lead to OP and receiving additional 33% damage. The medium shield modal reduces your incoming melee damage a 33%. Being 4 or more points ahead in armor is also a 75% dmg reduction. All these tools combined and everything you find that can help with it makes a character unkillable. The rest is stacking healing which has no difficulty.
  8. Modwyr is another option but I desisted from this character build. Maybe medium-late game is viable but early on it dies horribly. With high INT-MIG you die from your own raw damage. I tried a streetfighter-berserker but -20 deflection coupled with barbarian base deflection made my character a feast of crits. I'm interested on a how-to-streetfighter-berserker on POTD if someone have an idea. Svef was another trick but I think it no longer works.
  9. The priest is a caster and that's a huge advantage compared to a pure melee class like the unbroken/pally. But don't neglect the permanent +4/+1 AR you receive. Few monsters have 16/17 pen and with the absurd amount of deflection you have they can't crit you so no overpenetration is possible. And it doesn't matter if you have 120 def or 250 if they can't hit you. Grazes are nothing and constant recovery deal with the pitiful damage mobs can do. Another thing you are forgetting are the engagement slots. +3 from fighter stance, +1 from unbroken +1 from shield, +1 from hold the line. I don't know other players but I abuse this from partial party stealth to grab the highest amount of mobs I can before starting the real combat. If you talk about theorycraft of the highest def tank you can build I agree with your post. But it's a fact that the crusader is the toughest class in terms of prolonged tanking. I'm not saying a pally/priest is not a good class. Every class with paladin + whatever you like has good defensive capabilities. And if you can heal/buff at the same time you tank it's quite a good combination. But as I said it's not deflection what makes you a good tank or not, it's the amount of mobs you can disable from attacking your squishies and in this role the crusader is the king of kings.
  10. That's the point. Temporary. You run out of buffs, you die. You have the duration of the buffs to win the combat. The advantage of unbroken/pally is that with some passive dmg/healing support (like dragon thrashed + ancient memory + pale light) is that you don't rely on buffs but on passives. Unbroken reflex malus is negligible if you use "The wall" when you notice reflex attacks.
  11. Goldpact pally + Unbroken. There are other alternatives like generic wizard + paladin but you can be eventually dampened. Herald is a versatile class but no class can achieve the amount of deflection and armor of this combination. Even in POTD this class can't die, it's quite easy to get more than 120+ deflection with 15-16 armor rating + lay on hands for emergencies. I'm not a fank of pure tank classes as your main because it's like playing with a brick. WIth berath blessings something like this works (human): 19-8-8-18-19 + aedyr for a total of 21-10-10-20-22.
  12. I'm still wondering why dev's have not implemented a hold button to tell your dumb party members not to walk inside your own chilling fog. It would be nice. If I recall correctly I remember in BG's there was an option to do it. Please, implement it someday it shouldn't be too hard to do.
  13. Hello! Simple, extremely broken, and a very fun class to play. Multiclass Shifter/Berserker. Race: Nature godlike Stats: (POTD, Berath blessings) Mig: 18 (20) Con: 10 (12) Dex: 19 (21) Per: 8 (10) Int: 20 (22) Res: 3 (5) Skills: Invest in alchemy. Drugs are OP. Abilities: Predictable.. Two-weapon style, one stands alone, bloody slaughter, thick skinned, elemental damage, etcetera. Important spells: Taste of the hunt. Every druid healing available, woodskin/delemgan, storms. The strategy is quite simple, and only changes a bit after the game progress: - Storms - Healing & Buffs - Taste of the hunt! - Frenzy & Spiritshift. And watch mobs explode. Be careful, your companions too :-D Just make sure to counter the confused effect for the sanity of your party.
  14. My favourite list (my playstyle is to nerf mobs defenses to oblivion then critical-nuking all of them after): - Ghost blades: Friendly cone hobbled -5dex. - Arkemir dazzling: -10 will, -4 mig. - Miasma of mind: Best debuff of the game: -10 int- 10 resolve -10 per - Arduous delay of motion: Pair this spell with the previous debuffs and every mob of game becomes a punching bag. - Binding web + pull of eora and you decide how to finish them all with an empowered nuke that depends on your level I'm a fan of fireballs, if one is not enough launch two. There are more debuffs you can apply on higher levels as long as you have spells to spare, specially adragan to help with the crit-feast.
  15. Maia with the frozen bow has done more damage than my sorcerer main. It's one of the best weapons of the game (probably the best ranged one) and you can get it at level 5-6.
  16. It's pretty much what some of us think about this class. Let's take a look of class roles for example: - Paladin: Support/Tank & Viable DPS builds. A good class in POE2. - Fighter: Jack of all trades in combat. Tank, dps, survivability. Another good class. - Wizards & Druids: The same as POE1, with some changes but still viable and fun to play. Caster role. - Rogues: Highest DPS single damage, good multiclass builds. - Rangers: Solid ranged class, good dps, powerful pet, good multiclass combinations. Decent. - Priests: ?? Party support? I doubt it. To explain why priests are probably the worst caster class you can choose in POE2 it's needed to go through the entire spellbook and write a huge wall of text. But you can figure it by yourself if you take a look. I'll try to summarize the problem that priest spells have: - Long casting speed. - Pitiful radius. - Short duration. A good example of a tier A+++ trash spell is Holy meditation. About 6-8s/cast for a 1.5m/radius friendly AOE +5RES that longs ?? 10 secs ??. You spend more time casting the spell than receiving it's benefits. It's pathetic compared for example to wizard self-buffs. And you may say that every caster has more or less useless spells but talking about priests this is not the exception is the rule. There are only two exceptions at low-medium levels. Shining beacon and devotions for the faithful. If the better thing a class can do is to spam the same two-three spells during the entire game it's a sign that this class is broken. The only NPC priest (Xoti) has horrible stats for a single class priest. As useless as Durance in POE1. This is another thing to consider if you like to play with companions, and I do. Priests need a major rework to offer something that other classes can't offer. At this moment, they offer nothing.
  17. Priests in POE1 were the most powerful character at medium-high level you can had. In POE2 there are almost no reasons to have one in your party. Aside from devotions for the faithful their buffs&debuffs are pathetic (with some exceptions) and their offensive capacities are severely limited. Unlike wizards they have no grimories so you have to spend skill points on spells. Since the afflictions mechanics were changed priests also have lost one their biggest strength. Just remember how important was having a priest in the first stages of the white march against those pesky lagufeths. In terms of healing, druid, paladins and even chanters outclass them badly. One of the few times I completed POE1 potd was with a magranite elf priest. During the entire game I had the feeling I was playing a powerful character. One who was able to make mediocre companions (like Aloth) powerful NPC's. I tried the same in POE2. There is no way. POE2 changes has hit priests so hard that outside of roleplay reasons you are better choosing other classes for your party.
  18. Wizards feel "different" from POE1. Multiclass wizards are absurdly broken. I'm playing an unbroken+wizard in POTD and it's funny how enemies that are supposed (by level) to crush you barely does any kind of damage. Lots of buffs at 0.4s/each. I went to Hassango at level 5-6 and I was able to tank an entire group of snakes by myself as long as the buffs were active. No class can do that. +5 STR +5 Dex + 5 Int + 5Con, 11-12 armor value, HP regen and spikes of +50 deflection (veil) with level 2 spells! But pure class casters are kinda weak compared to what they were in POE1. Specially single class ciphers that I find extremely underpowered (the best thing they can do is to spam endless whispers) . Some players says that at high level wizards are good. At high levels every class is broken, specially if you have proper items. I think it's just time to get used to the new mechanics.
  19. Slicken + Chill fog + Binding web + AOE spam solves every kind of druid problems. It's like the dweller bounty. If you let him spam plague of insects and menpgwra's maggots you are dead. If you have a wizard and a druid on your party is easier. Maw's & Slicken just before the prone effect ends and spam all the AOE damaging spells you have. It's a general rule with every AI caster. If you don't disable them first, they disable your party and you lose.
  20. A cipher with a durganized Engwithan Scepter + Sure Handed-Ila + Dangerous implements can generate a lot of focus. It's like a machinegun But nothing beats the stormcaller one, sadly. Forget about 5CON,5RES two stat points are not going to save you. A cipher is frail and if you get focused by mobs you die. Specially since we all love to wear clothes. Wood elf is EVER the better choice and with 3 RES you have the same DEF as no-wood elf character with 8RES. Aumaua quick-switch is viable, I finished a POTD run with it. But that was the last time I ever play a quick-switch char. One time, no more. Outlander's frenzy is not worth the talent IMO. If you want speed, get addicted to DAOM's potions & Svef. For talents, I would go: Biting whip, weapon focus, draining whip, apprentice sneak attack, penetrating shot, h. of storm (if stormcaller), marksman, bloody slaughter.
  21. Developers introduced a change to the loot tables. And it happens every time you roll a character. I started two times the same character (Ranger) to find the stalker's torc on gilded vale and I got different results. While on one I get it on day 17, the other character was on day 19. So fixed loot tables based on daytime won't work anymore. I used the console and advancetimebyhours. So, there is no reliable method of getting what do you want on a certain location without savescumming. If the location of the random drop is not locked the loot is generated when you enter on the area for the first time. Talking about gauntlets of swift speed is not a fixed location. I played again Durgan's Battery Foundry and I got other pack of gauntlets, sadly
  22. You can find gauntlets of swift action on the Foundry of Durgan's battery (WM 1). I have found it every time I played this level so unless I was lucky it appears to be a fixed location.
