Are souls atomic?
Tennisgolfboll replied to kensu's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Souls are energy. Each person born from the energy is a new person, seperate from the others. But when they die, their memories can remain in the energy (soul) but they are dead and gone. When awakened they think they live again and can drive the new person using the same energy mad. Souls break apart upon the death of a person, mostly energy is lost but sometimes the soul manages to steal more energy than it lost. So the souls are actually many soul parts of different souls. And this doesnt matter because the soul is just energy. In the watchers case however he has a strong soul, it doesnt break apart as much as others. The energy is more stable so he can use it to do things others cannot, namely manipulate energy (souls) in many ways. But someone elses memories is still in the soul. The inquisitiors who argued with thaos. The memories are awakened and it must be fixed or madness will be the end result. Many people of Eora however think the soul is the person (crucible knights look for freedom souls that fought the aedyr empire for example, but souls are fragmented and just because a piece of energy was in a freedom fighter doesnt mean anything but the people of eora dont really understand this but rather think that the "so called gods" tend to the souls and create them, when in fact they are just energy from souls given an agenda like a machine from machines created by the engwithans) -
ingame time

Normal. Time doesnt start at zero -
So im an old gamer. Past 30 and ive played some great games in my time (fallout 1, 2, 3, new vegas, arcanum, bg series etc etc) PoE is great game but having played through it on easy (once), normal (twice) and hard (twice) i can say difficulty settings are messed up. I have abit of obsession of game balance and it is lacking here. Why is this a big problem? Because if a gamer choses easy and cant beat the game when he goes up against thaos, you turn that entertained paying customer into a frustrated ex customer. And that means less money, which in turn means less good games for us who love games like PoE. Now the problem with the difficulty in PoE is that many fights are abit to easy (so the player chosing easy does not learn to use all spells etc) then he goes up against thaos and gets crushed. The design of the final battle and its spike is flawed in that way (the same goes for the adra dragon). This applies to all the difficulty settings. The spike is to big but on hard it doesnt matter to much because a customer can just turn down the difficulty and its fixed (normally) but alas not on PoE because the difference between easy, normal and hard is way to small. In fact its often not even noticeable. This is because you took a bad turn when making encounters only differ by a few more creatures on the different settings. My first playthrough was on hard and i was shocked when i on my second tried easy (balance obsession). The difference was tiny, less loot on easy (less easy enemies) but the big baddies were just as hard (thaos etc). I would strongly advice you to change easy to the same number of enemies as normal and have easy only take 50% damage. Or add +20 to deflection, fortitude, reflex, will on easy. As it stands now the game is to hard on easy (big problem) and abit to easy on hard (not much of an issue). Just trying to help you, so i can see more PoE (from having you laugh all the way to the bank)

You are right. Obsidian needs to work on their difficulty settings. Easy should be easy, hard should be hard. Stuff like 9 spells in a row insta gibs dragon on Potd isnt hard. Its just lame. Getting killed within 2 secs with a casual party on easy isnt easy. Send me a message obsidian ill balance it for you. Problem with having easy to hard is that paying customers becomes frustrated ex customers. And that means less cash, which means less poe for all of us no matter what difficulty settings we play on

Party gender preference?
Tennisgolfboll replied to Nexus0's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If i got to chose id have 4 npcs males (barbarian, warrior, priest, rogue) and mainchar (paladin male) and calisca (as romance for my mainchar) But i dont so i use pallegina and kana, aloth. I dont like to make my own npcs (except for main char) If there had been no romance option with calisca i would still have kept her. Great voice acting and backstory. Otherwise i prefer my "war taskforce" to be made out of men (women are weaker than men and to many women ruin the "suspend the disbelief" for me) -
[1.06] Major bug - bartering is broken

Got this aswell -
This is the problem with difficulty settings on pillars of eternity. Thaos stats and the statues stats are the same on easy, normal and hard. This is terrible game design. Easy should be easy (the game isnt balanced here). Just give double the points for main character at start (156, cap at 30 per attribute) and your whole game would be balanced for easy. (Use the normal setting for number of enemies and types ofenemies). Or have all damage dealt on easy reduced by 50%. There fixed for you obsidian. I do a better job at balancing then your whole team unfortunately And Potd should be insanely hard no matter how you abuse the ai, traps, spells etc (again the game isnt balanced here) That Potd is to easy is not nearly as big a problem as thaos being to hard for the easy setting (which will turn paying customers that was entertained into angry customers who are frustrated)

Romance Packs DLC
Tennisgolfboll replied to GadgetSun's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
KOTR had a good romance with Bastila. Better than most movies. And to longknife. I sure dont need a philosofy lesson from a game (something i know much better myself) and find it pretty simple standard questions thrown in there in games. But i think new vegas is 10/10 for its very good gameplay, balance, story and feel. Kotor2 had alot of philosofy and was worse than the first (worse gameplay than the first, less interesting npcs etc etc) Bg 2 also had good romances. Romance is a big part of storytelling, life etc. To just claim i cant write romance well then id say you need to work on that weakness if you are a wrighter. I bet many of obsidians staff is married (like most of us adults) so they probably have some rl experience of it, atleast alot more than with talking dragons, ghosts etc -
Korgan Bloodaxe is the best npc in any game! Aye, the dwarf will have to do it. I best paid well fer this. The do all the work and we ends up with the gold, the book and the satisfaction of kicking their tails. Ahhh a good day. When you ask Korgan about his past he tells you to mind your own business, seeing as the dwarf is just a necklace short of ears to prove his enjoyment of slaughter you decide to oblige (reading background info) I have had better times drowning face first in gutterwater and bleeding from every orifice (rep to high) He also had great depth, he was chaotic evil but thought that children was innocent and shouls not be harmed. He got along with keldorn etc Poe is a great.game. but a romance would be nice and more options and depth with npcs. Fighting pit i dont care for. Larger stronghold battle would be cool though. 100 men each side atleast
