  1. Voted durance. Three small reasons and 1 big one. His quest bugged for me. He eventually was such whiny, grumpy old man i got fed up with him and told him to get lost. Loved that the genocidal murderer torched himself in the end slide. And his comments when eder, aloth etc go down. Yeah smart head your next in line now. Didnt you fight in war, zero battle smarts or what? The big one? He admits to have murdered children and is proud of it, i cant stand that. I was gonna kill him when removed him from the party but he didnt walk away so i could target him but vanished. End slide gave him a fitting end anyway.
  2. Sagani would not hesitate. She has seen the watcher slay dragons, mend souls, twist souls and she went on an endless hunt even when the trail got cold. Kana would never hesitate. Nor Eder. Aloth is following you with blind faith after admitting serving the wrong master and pledging himself. Hiravias....he would joke and follow. Durance is insane. GM she is broken and would do anything to end the hollowborns. Pallegina is good and selfless. If you convince here to follow her orders and do a "evil" trade agreement against dyrwood, even though she gets high rank in her order it haunts her for the rest of her days. She would never back down from facing thaos. Pretty much all of the companions are determined/crazy/loyal etc. And of course the watcher has some crazy ass power and inspiration (deeds and prescense) I think it would have made no sense with them fleeing there at the end.
  3. The point isnt that hard is to easy (which it is) The point is easy is not easy. The difference between hard and easy on this game is tiny. But people dont rage quit and skip expansions and new poe games because hard on trial of iron was easy. But they sure as hell does when easy is to hard. This will cost us (who like the game, who play on hard etc) because less cash for obsidian means less games for us.
  4. You Sir havent been in RL knife fight. Anyway when you go behind someone do you stab them in neck or slit their throat? Unfortunately i have. If you ever find yourself in one you better hope that your attacker slashes (hollywood movie fantasy) with his dagger rather than stabs.
  5. Spot on. The difference between easy and hard in this game is tiny. Mainly the first bear cave and the final fight in the temple of eothas is the only noticeable differences (both of which are easy with a 4-6 man team) That is odd. Often hard adds like two trash enemies that gives extra loot and makes the fight feel more epic (bigger) It does not add any real challenge and in contrast normal doesnt make it easier, not even easy makes it easier. Just very odd design choice. Id say someone who plays on hard at the start learns the game alittle better from start and will have an easier time in the end (because thaos etc are the same on the settings) because of this. So maybe hard isnt 10% harder than easy in the end, maybe its 5% easier. I'd say most of the people complaining about the lack of difference between hard and easy never actually tried the difference and just assume things. Hard does not just add 1-2 more creatures on every encounter. It also changes the abilities of enemies. So, a spellcaster on hard does not have the same spell selection than a spellcaster on easy. Thaos has a different spell selection on easy. Obsidian could have went the cheap way, making the difficulty slider only affect stats. Instead, they went through the hassle to design 3 different encounter sets for every encounter. Yes, "hard" is undertuned. We get it. But at least players could show some appreciation for the extra effort Obsidian put into the difficulty settings. Yes it does. Ive played the game on easy and on hard. Most encounters is simply a few more trash mobs. Thaos spell selection and wizards are the same The interesting thing here isnt what the difference between easy, normal and hard is but how big it is. And its a few percent harder each notch (easy, normal, hard) at most. This is flawed.

  7. What a crazy worldview you must have. A very low ranked football team of men crushes the best one of women But you dont seem capable of accepting the truth of that fact without thinking this makes women inferior. So was your mother superior to you when she picked you up when you were 7? Are you superior to your father as he turns 50 and you 20? (A football team of 50+ men would lose to a 20 year old one) Am i superior to my wife because i can lift more than 500 pounds? When i grow old and can only lift 80% of that am i somehow worth less? I just dont agree with your ideas about what it means for value of a human being that men and women have a different gene and hormonal profiles. i think men and women are two halves of one whole. If one were to be removed mankind would end, i do not view men and women as adversaries but as vital support to one another. But this is a waste.of time. I just wantes to say i prefer 1-2 women in my warparty. In PoE pallegina is my favorite woman to include. Would have liked calisca. Im done with this topic
  8. And I love how you are going out of your way to make this an issue of inferiority vs. superiority. It's ridiculous to even imply that women stand a chance when we're discussing relative physical strength, on average. And if we're discussing the extremes, the upper percentiles of either gender, the otherwise relatively big differences turns into a massive gulch. This doesn't mean that one thinks that women are "inferior to men". Really, stop trying to shove cultural marxism and political correctness down everyone's throat. The guy stated his preferred gender ratio, as per the thread, and explained why he felt that way, and it's perfectly reasonable to say that "Hey, I find it a bit ridiculous that somehow the 6 beefiest female meatheads of the continent have somehow coalesced and become part of my party, and I prefer to keep it at a more realistic level". It has nothing to do with misogyny or some other ridiculous cause, it has nothing to do with fireballs or magic, or the fact that it's a fantasy setting. It's a preference based on fact and the universe as we know it, which no-one other than the player has anything to do with. He doesn't care if you fill up your party with pink-haired orlan females that kills dragons left and right because you think they're pretty, why would you care if he prefers 1-2 females because of human gender dimorphism? Other than virulent brainwash through rote repetition and offence by proxy? Just adding my two cents? I personally think how much someone works out or the like is far more likely to play a role in who's stronger than gender is. What I mean is I've known plenty of guys with very arrogant and misogynistic beliefs that they're stronger than women by default....but not all of them bothered working out. Then lo and behold a woman that does comes along and outmatches him. Having said that, I recently saw a statistic that was pretty conclusive. It showed how typically, Olympic runners for example (believe it was runners) will have such a gap that the slowest male runner outperforms the fastest female runner. That's pretty damning evidence that would definitely suggest that yes, of course when you have two people both equally dedicated to a physical activity, the male will have the advantage. Likewise and just as a last example, a friend of mine does judo and haekido I believe. Discovered, to my surprise, that I'm stronger than her. I do not work out. The only work outs I have to my name are that walking with one leg is more taxing on your muscles (I naturally build leg muscle) and when I use crutches around the house or the like, then there's some arm muscle. That's it really. So yeah, that was surprising for me but also speaks quite a bit about the advantage men have. Also, this post is hilarious: *rolls eyes* No, I understood you, the number is still irrelevant. But thanks for assuming I'm just stupid. The point is that woman are in the military at all. You attributing real world blueprints such as HOW MANY WOMEN ARE IN THE MILITARY and WEIGHT to a fantasy game is just... why? If you're constantly on the look out for "inconsistency" or whatnot, how are you possibly going to have any fun? Does it really matter to you that much that there are female wizards in a fantasy game? Does it matter to you that much that other people are playing female PMs that you have to come into a forum thread and state that you think it is unnatural (well, I mean, unnatural except if they are love interests, according to you)? The why is spelled out for you: immersion. He wants the world to feel believable for him, and it loses a degree of that when he has all these stronk women in squad. To everything else? Dude where on EARTH did he say that he takes offense to anyone else playing as females or that his goal is to rain on everyone else's parade? He stated a personal preference because this thread asked for it. You are the one reading too much into things. He only grew hostile after you were already at his throat. Well said. Also if one were to check records between men and women before the dawn of anabolic steroids etc the gap would be much bigger than today (yes both legal and illegal drugs are used when it comes to olympics etc).

  10. Im a youngy then!! : ) No but seriously the game is maybe 10% harder on hard than on easy. That is whack imo. Im not leet enough for potd (i never tried it not my cup of tea) But i can say playing ironman on hard is cake for me but it will cost obsidian money when easy isnt easy.... Just trying to warn them
  11. Some good points. I find that the more such absurd things as turn into a bear, women fighting dragons etc there is the harder it is to suspend my disbelief. This is how all fantasy works. I am sure you would find it hard to accept that your party can fly, use tactical nukes from their fingers, and morph to dragons at will. Its just to much. A cartoon. The difference between us is that my views (which are rooted in the real world) dont think all female parties are the ****. You are however so indoctrinated (contrary to how the real world works) with denying gender difference that you just dont see how absurd such things are Again, I have no issue if an all-female party (or even majority) breaks your personal verisimilitude - its your game and you should play it the way it makes you happy! If that means all or mostly male parties and females only in certain roles - the game supports that. And that's why I think these kind of games are great, you can build what works for you. And while I'll concur that the strength in the top 100th percentile man is going to be stronger than the top 100th percentile woman in real life, I - personally - don't have a problem with superior strength frontline fighter women in a fantasy setting, because its a fantasy setting (and at any rate, the top 100th percentile woman is still going to be stronger than, something like 80 - 90% of dudes anyhow when you're talking about elite levels). I'll also say, I have no issue with a game enforcing gender differences (there have been several that have given a +1 str to guys and a -1 str to gals; the biggest problem is the in game balance solutions to make dudettes still viable as party members are usually not well thought out and/or completely arbitrary). I know a lot of people hate this sort of thing, but I've never found it to break a game. I agree with all said except your real world example. I am a powerlifter and i can tell you that even if a woman trains her whole life she wont be as strong as a big and broad man who spends his time drinking etc. There are unique exceptions were they could get as strong because of their genes and drugs as the big couch man but if that man had the same genetic gifts he would again be stronger by sitting on his ass. When you then factor in martial training and lifting the genes and hormonal profile makes the difference even bigger between men and women. For example a terrible division 12 football team of men would destroy the best female team in the whole world even if they were on drugs (and the drugs even it out alot). And i mean destroy. The women wouldn't stand a chance.
  12. Just because you think you made sense doesn't mean you did. Stop treating everyone else like idiots just because they disagree with you. You say you're fine with other people playing how they want, but then you say crap like this and how they are "indoctrinated" for having female party members. I was willing to let it go, but you keep jabbing at other people for either "playing wrong" or "not reading". My initial comment was about your views on women, but you are the one that keeps bringing up how others are brainwashed for having female party members. You project so much. I never called you an idiot. Relax

You are however so indoctrinated (contrary to how the real world works) with denying gender difference that you just dont see how absurd such things are In the real world having your whole body covered in flames leaves you dead or scarred for life. In the game you shrug it off and keep going. How do you deal with this fact? This is evident in my other posts. Reading is your friend
  14. I feel that we are blowing this out of proportion. The actual differences here are small. I have yet to do a single custom character. So lifeless. Hard time suspending my disbelief when there are such good alternatives. Pallegina, Durance, Eder, Calisca the rogue that you can romance...oh wait the last part was jst wishful thinking
  15. I also prefer this. But im ok with female warriors (yes more suspended disbelief but one i can buy not 6, if it is as well made as calisca, she was perfect as a warrior, maybe could have been rogue) To bad she bites the dust

I dont care if all your npcs are women. Not one bit. However i think its a cartoon with all/majority female parties. I have no problems with your opinion, but you seem to have a problem with mine. I only spoke of the real world combat units because YOU brought it up
  18. Nope im not a cipher! But i will try and make it really simple for you. Me: having many women in a warparty is a cartoon for me i cant play like that. My cap is 2 out of 6. You: women serve in armed forces Me: yeah less than 1 out of 100, and much lower in combat units. Hell there are more children than women in such units. This is why i cant have to many women, my numbers at 2 out of 6 is borderline a joke allready!
  19. You do know that women serve in the military, right?Did you know that they are outnumbered more than 100-1 in armed forces across the globe?I see you missed my point completely. The point was there are. Older than you, apparently. No the point is they are rare, much more rare than my poe party. And you did not even see that your own example shows that. But i dont care if you have 5 orlan females weighing 40 pounds each killing dragons. I however dont enjoy playing like that, its a cartoon to me. So i will never have a 5 women party. Edit And no you are not older than me. Your posts show me that.
  20. You do know that women serve in the military, right?Did you know that they are outnumbered more than 100-1 in armed forces across the globe? The number is even lower if you take armed forces designed for combat, infact there are more children than women in such units! So one in six in my PoE party is pretty absurd.....but i can suspend my disbelief so much so thats ok. 2 is pushing it beyond absurd and makes it cartoonish however.
  21. So, women can't be fighters, but you'll more than happily play out kissy face fantasies with them. Did you also have a problem with Mad Max? I have no problems. But im not enslaved by political correctness like most people are. I feel bad for them, they cant think for themselves and just repeat what they have been indoctrinated with. I find it immersive breaking with to many women in the party. 6 100 - 150 pound women going up against all those enemies. Nah, feels like a comicbook for teenage boys drooling over Sheenas (never watched it, not sure about the name) Why so angry about that, why is this a problem for you? Why cant you handle a different opinion than your own? Madmax was a great movie. One long chase but what a thrill. Edit: kissy face fantasies? Just how old are you?
  22. You dont slash with a dagger in rl. Not that rl really matters to much in games.
  23. And the engwithans thought the souls (energy) was the pathway to the gods but when their scientists showed it was only energy they got crushed. Their science could never get past the deadend of souls, that they are just energy and so they thought there is nothing more. The world is empty and pointless. They used the energy to create the "machine gods" and commited ritual suicide. What they failed to see was that all the energy, the planet etc has to have a Creator. The first natural thing must come from the supernatural. But the engwithans were so sure of their ideas and science and so noone questionened their faith, instead they commited ritual sucide like a sect to try and force their world view upon all others. Thaos then works hard to see it done. But the "machine gods" turn on woedica (the engwithans didnt realise this could happen, they overestimated their machine gods) and so thaos has to work even harder to spread the engwithans "machine gods". He needs more and more desperate measures to stop people from learning what the engwithans learned.
