When I worked in an office people would always come in sick (unless they were on death's door and sometimes even then) and we got a little more than a week of paid sick days a year that are separate from vacation and whatever else. But like Gfted1 said nobody wanted to burn on day off on being sick and would save those sick days and instead use them as an extra week of vacation

I'm with Walsingham on this one and I've mentioned it before in one of these Oby threads* I'm also of the belief that racism doesn't need to be so specific to be considered racism. In my experience the people who I have encountered that I would consider to be racist don't necessarily hate other races but view them as inherently inferior. The missus and I went out to a place called Panzano for their happy hour They have these really delicious small plates and a good wine selection on the cheap This is what we had (yes, all of it. They are really small plates) 2 orders of Crespelle ai Funghi - Hazel Dell mushroom stuffed crepe, fonduta sauce and white truffle oil Tartare di Tonno - Tuna tartare with lemon, capers, shallots, micro basil, and chili threads served with piadina crisps Ragu di Cinghiale Farro - pappardelle tossed in wild boar Bolognese;topped with Grana Padano Acero Agnello Costole - Lamb ribs in a fig maple glaze, goat cheese, walnuts Pollo al Marsala - Chicken scallopini served over mushroom risotto in a marsala demi-glaze and topped with fried prosciutto Gnocchi al Coniglio - Sautéed gnocchi with rabbit confit, leeks, shallots,mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and gorgonzola cheese Capesante - Pan seared sea scallop with grilled asparagus and prosciutto risotto, over a basil leek nage topped with parsley Budino de Caramelo - Butterscotch pudding topped with salted caramel and whipped sour cream, topped with a rosemary pinenut cookie

In general, yes In most of these examples there seems to be an unreasonable escalation of force and at some point firing a weapon near people may be more dangerous to the public than the person they are trying to stop. In this case there were 3 stray bullets which luckily didn't hit anyone but it's not like there was a shoot out or a struggle or even any immediate threat. They just walked up and shot the guy then lied about it I don't know if it was just indifference, laziness, blood lust or something else entirely

a few bad apples spoils the bunch They have much more power over the lives of others than a normal citizen, including life and death. I don't take issue if something bad inadvertently happens but when something such as this happens I do take issue. I think it's important to hold police to a higher standard as they have been given power and responsibility that I believe warrants such scrutiny. In this case you can see the officers pull up and get out of their car walk over and shoot the guy standing in the middle of the street. All happens in just a few seconds. The police said that the man charged them with a knife but you can clearly see that he is standing in place with his arms at his side.

I believe they said the man that was shot is expected to live
