white march news
Eisenheinrich replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
God, I hated this item! A door for a shield! And you had to it carry aroud half the game till you found a proper replacement. -
I am currently in Germany, and all I can say is kill me. Get me a swimming pool of snow so I can bathe is slush. I'll spend all saturday on the Northsea, as will half of the population of northern germany. But today was a workday and I had to change my wardrobe two times during the day. It's not the heat per se, but the humidity that drives you nuts. So, as I said above: Give us that icy expansion already! Absolutely. I'm in the vicinity of Hamburg (Uelzen to be specific) and there was even a bit of rain today, even though it's warm as hell. When did Germany become the tropics? D: Ah, Uelzen! The pearl of Lower-Saxony. No, not for real, but the train station is by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, famous austrian architect and artist.

Fair enough. Guess I'm more into the sombre, medieval touch of armarent like Neverwinter Nights and that kind of games introduced. While bland in graphics and diversity of enviroment, the atmosphere in NWN was spot on for me. I can't understand how anyone would prefer that Disney-abomination the city of Neverwinter has become in the Neverwinter MMO to the gloomy appearance in the original NWN-Game.

Please STFU! Minsc? Are you kidding me? He was ****e, as was Jaheira as was whiny Imoen as was that do-gooder An(noy)omen! Most of those BG II-chars were stereotypes so bland, I can't even imagine how anybody could hold them in such a high esteem. Maybe you liked them, because you were 12 when you played that game and didn't had a clue about good writing. Durance > Minsc Now get the F out here! Eisenheinrich EDIT: The whole art-style and graphics are **** in DO:S, couldn't even bear those ridiculous charakter-models with their silly "High-Fantasy-Anime-Armour" and oversized weapons. WoW-style crap.

They're not "splitting it into pieces", they're parting it in two halfes due to the urge of the community for new PoE-Material. As long as we don't know, how long each part will be, there's no need for early damnation. If each part is around 10 hours of gameplay, I'm fine. Should the concerns come true, and this "part 1" is more of a DLC 4 hour kind of add-on, I'll chime in with the critics and bash the **** out of it, promised!

From all I heard and saw, this is a proper expansion and not on the level of a random DLC. New areas, new plot, but building upon the main-storyline, new companions, new game mechanics (invidual stealth, Party AI), not only for the expansion, but for the main game (you don't even have to pay, to get those), new talents, new items etc. etc. Couldn't care less, they split it in two parts, as I expect, you only have to pay for ONE expansion and get both parts. They just release the firtst one earlier. No prob at all, you gonna have to be a real pessimist to suspect some sort of scam behind this. It's, by all terms, an expansion in the classical way.

I mostly like the setting. Mostly. Not so fond of Defiance Bay, especially First Fires and Copperlane. Don't like the design and the layout of the map there. Hands down, Ondras Gift is the best part there, followed by Heritage Hill. Everything else looks too broad and empty. Overall, I liked Twin Elms more.

Oh, I just dig IWD-like Settings. With Sawyers work on IWD II, I doubt that there will be any disappointments setting-wise. The beginning reminds me of the city under siege in the beginning of BG II: ToB. For the different parts, I expect the first one to be mostly adventures in the wilderness around Durgans Battery, and the second half to be a dungeon crawl to the White Fortress. Fingers crossed!

Guten Tag, i recently stumbled on this on my 2nd playthrough: Whenever a dialouge starts, the music and all enviromental sounds die down. Most dialouges take place in complete silence. I found this highly disturbing and didn't catch that pehenomen during my firts playthrough (or don't remember it ...). Was this patched into the game or was it that way from the beginning? Personally, I don't like that silence. It's not realistic, and it creeps me out, everytime a dialouge starts. It kills the atmosphere, and ... although I hate the term ... breaks mah immersuuuuhn. And it's a little bit boring. I don't want to turn on the radio, while reading through a massive PoE-Dialouge. Another question: Why do turn most NPCs hostile while you fight a common foe (VIanna or Aranroed for example in the Winds of Steel-Quest)? I can't prevent this because of my AoE-Spells. This is unpracitcal and bugging. Auf Wiedersehen! Eisenheinrich

No, Sarex likes IWD more than BG if I recall correctly. Why do you like IWD better than BG anyway? To me IWD has always seemed really constrained and soulless. Still decent games, but nothing to brag about. Dunno, maybe it's the less epic scope. IWD really feels more like something I could experience at a real D&D session, while BG II is over the top epic. I especially like the dungeons in IWD, those are some great examples on well done megadungeons. The battles were mostly demanding, I hat my fair share of TPKs. Plus, I dig the setting. Icy planes, always a winner for me.

Am I the only one who thinks that Icewind Dale + Heart of Winter + Trials of the Luremaster is far superior to the BG-Saga? I guess so ... b2t, there are many parts in PoE, that did remind me more of IWD than the BG-Saga, even when IWD has the better dungeon-delving atmosphere of dread and terror, hands down. I'll never forget the epicness that was the Dragon's Eye.

Guten Tag! Pardon me, but what exactly is the "RPGCodex" and how is their opinion anymore valid than than anyone else's? I'm from Germany and never heartd 'bout this message board before and just judging by some threads I skimmed, this is just another place for elitist basement-wierdos with obvious no life and some distasteful memes. So, why the fuzz?
